i have the good fortune of having two of the teams in the competition located in my hometown. screw Texas and his stupid gun Q's! lol Go Kinder's and Back Forty!
@16JAM77 you don't get it because you know nothing about smoking ribs. It's the title they take home to their restaurants to boast so customers will continue to return. In addition to this, they sell the ribs at these contests and make boat loads of money.
My god I cant stand American television. Everything is repeated so often and dumbed down. Nothing against the people but jeez your television is hard to watch for europeans. I want some ribs now though....sniff...
@16JAM77 Not to pile on you but last year there were 500,000 people who attended the event. 25 teams have five days to sell to those folks. i would say they came out ahead!
Fat white americans in Texas. Many people would call this uncivilized but I think this is great. Its just jewish liberal New York -America that hate the white gentile Cooking culture in Texas.
Have to agree with UrbiGman55 on that. I love eating the food you just mentioned. What's the use of living long if you're going to be miserable by denying yourself the simple pleasures in life.
Who cares. Everything causes something now days. Stop smoking and get hit by a tobacco truck. We'll all die from something. The trick is to cook it till it's not red anymore.

"Red & processed meats cause bowel cancer, explained Amanda Cross, an epidemiologist at the National Cancer Institute (NCI). "This is the largest study to look at the effect of red and processed meat on multiple cancer sites, such as bowel/colon, laryngeal and liver cancer."
Red meats included beef, pork and lamb. Processed meats included bacon, red-meat sausage, poultry sausage, luncheon meats, cold cuts, ham, hot dogs and low-fat hot dogs
