I bought Born Slippy Nuxx and Born Slippy a while ago. Born Slippy Nuxx is like 11:38 and Born Slippy is 7:14. This is a shorter of Nuxx. Since the original doesn't have a crash and has a break from the bass drum around 4:20 and is a bit less creepy...
@mariosonic66 It does as i no longer use them links :) No seriously though this was ripped from a compilation CD Zombie Nation was the next track that was coming in
, Karl Hyde said: "We used to go out drinking in Soho and I ended up in the Ship on Wardour Street. All the lyrics were written on that night. A drunk sees the world in fragments and I wanted to recreate that. I was inspired by Lou Reed's New York album and Sam Shepard's Motel Chronicles."
How can anyone not love this song? As someone with a chequered past this song has so many memories both good and bad. Clubbing, loving, just being me. Of course there will always be the Trainspotting connection and as someone with a knowledge of such things and having come out the other side of a very dark place this song is a triumphant anthem for me! Classic, massive and the consumate clubbing tune! Loving it!!!!! :-P :-)
dj dean0 i kno were ur coming from man ... born slippy ... no,. if's and or buts... one of the most if not the most iconic tune of that glorious decade the 90's . . . .
The band has stated that the pounding, relentless rhythm and shouted lyrics of the track were originally meant "as a joke"[1], and the single received little attention. They have also said in a Guardian interview[2] that the song is intended to sound like an alcoholic's internal dialogue and that Karl Hyde was a functional alcoholic at the time.
I reckon its about taking ecstacy on a night out. Musically, the song starts off with the anticipation then everything starts to kick in slowly (when your coming up) then it all just kicks off when the drumbeat comes in (when you've actually come up) "You had chemicals boy I've grown so close to you" its about the loved up feelings you get when on E. "Mega mega white thing" talking about the actual pill itself the last line is about the comedown of E. hence the headache!!
@djdean0 i think hes talking about himself he is clearly gay and when he says lipstick boy and bio boy it makes sense, i think the head ache part is possibly when he came out the closet i defo think the white thing is drugs tho could be wrong never the less unbelivable song!
This band has existed since the 70s, during a time when alot of dance music was associated with homosexual clubs, plus, In an essential mix, he repeated "I need a penis" I think 6 times when he was performing King Of Snake in Creamfields......yeah, he is clearly gay
To me its the about the hole night.. The drugs the beers, the moozik. the meating someone you really fancy that lives miles away. The headache. Stuff like that.
Thanks for the lyrics. Does anyone know what the meaning of them are though? Like was Underworld thinking of a certain person or something while writing the lyrics/song?
Not a problem, I thought it would be great idea to find the lyrics to this belter of a club tune and put it together in a video for those that never understood the song.
Now i can sing the whole thing espicially on a friday night whenever it's played on Dance Anthems and im at work lol
