check out my video, "I went to College, now I'm HOMELESS" college didn't do shit for me but put me in debt and in poverty. where's the american dream? you have to be asleep to find it. and you can't make money while asleep
technical skills are far more valuable these days. The biggest problem, though, is corporations that outsource jobs to other countries.Even legal work is being outsourced now.This should be truly frightening to all Americans.
@mochafudgetruffle almost everything is being outsource to other countries because its cheaper... those companies are becominig richer and richer while vast majority of americans cant find jobs because why do they want a computer engineer where they can go to india and hire him with less cost
I agree with most of your video. However I don't believe a job in healthcare or law is an excellent alternative for a career. Healthcare requires more and more CPD, and some debt occured can stop you treating patients. Law is extremely costly, and tooo many lawyers in this market. The problem is the American system. Degree is gold. No degree no job brainwashing. Germany seems to be doing well without university.
Respectfully, all I was replying to was based on which degree you take :) When you were talking about Computer Science, and that you could buy a book, or look information up on wiki and google, all I was meaning to state was; even with a healthcare degree or something similar, its all a con. Money goes to money. Best wishes with your studies.
@TENNSUMITSUMA I'm also a Computer Science major, i went to a "technical school" and got an associates degree, and now i getting my BS. i now owe $15,305, and i'm only a upper freshmen. remember you will learn way more on youtube/google then you will in the classroom. and if you get stuck on something, you can go to a good forum for help. as a matter of fact you can see many MIT computer science lectures on youtube, FOR FREE!
THAT'S EXACTLY WHY I DROPPED OUT OF COLLEGE AND STARTED AN ONLINE BUSINESS AND NOW IM MAKING 300%+ MONTHLY RESIDUAL PROFIT ON MY WORK.. IF YOUR INTERESTED IN KNOWING WHAT I AM DOING CALL... (646) 255-9054 ill be happy to take your call
Waw, the subjects they make you study, nothing that matters... and I thought my college was bad.
I like that you study in you free time. As a suggestion, there are free video courses from MIT, Stanford, etc... and I must say most of them are pretty good, and the good part is that if you already know something you can just skip the video.
Also another suggestion (this worked for me) was to work in the field, while studying, this meant I learned stuff (from the real world) and earned money.
During the second year the students in animation got so pissed we went to the accreditation board about it. And the women in accreditation told us if we drop out it will look bad on our resume. I barely made it through that year cause of depression from spending so much money and not learning skills to work in my field. I dropped out 2nd year and worked at a design company and moving home a year later. I haven't found a job since then. I am currently a substitute teacher.
I had to take a lot of classes I wasn't interested in and ended up having to go back to school again for animation in another state where the School sucked. I tried to specialized at a trade school for comics and animation and the school didnt even teach the basic necessities for getting work in animation. For example 3d animation, digital drawing and storyboads. All that! Not a single thing was taught. I learned the very very very basics of animation and I went out and found animation books.
I don't even think you should go up to 40,000 if you can help it. When I was coming up I was having it pounded into my head that the only way to be anything is to go to college. I wanted to study animation and my family didn't want me leaving the state and I went to a local college on scholar ships and studied art for 4 year and never learned a single thing about animation at all. Not only that, I didnt even learn how to thrive and make money as an artist.
I'm making a video similar to this soon. I did CC for 1 full year and the second year I ended up dropping most classes halfway through cuz everything felt useless in the end. Thankfully, I had a partial scholarship that paid for half so I only had to shell out ~$500 plus books [$300+ my first semester] and when I tried to resell, they wanted to give me $15 for a book rarely used, worth $45 originally. Now, I'm doing an apprenticeship in my desired field through a program NOT COLLEGE and..cont'
cont'...I'll graduate next year. I wish I would've taken a break for 1yr after high school to figure out what I really wanted instead of going to school being undecided. Sadly, most parents want their kid's next step to be college after HS grad. My field isn't easy and won't pay much unless i work my ass off but it's what i truly want and i only had to invest $7750, including books, tuition, programs for my comp., etc $7k compared to the thousands you all paid plus the debt you'll work the rest
College is the biggest scam in our time .... their is more college debt then there is credit card debt. Overpriced for what you actually get. Some of my books I never even opened! What a joke. I'd rather buy a book and read it and not put myself in debt doing it. When I do read I actually read things that interest me.
when you go to a cheaper college,you take all these bullshit classes.when you go to a specific college for your degree you don't take any bullshit classes but the price is gonna be 3 times as much as the cheaper one.either way there will be a problem.Most companies will not even consider looking at you if you do not have a degree.you can get knowledge in a book,but if your trying to get hired somewhere,the company is gonna take its chance with the one with the degree before someone with a book
I am in America. I have been in college since January 2006. I have a single class to graduate. I also have an IQ of 160. Yet, I would say most of my time in college has been a waste. I am in massive debt just to get knowledge which most of it is useless. College is a conspiracy, else they wouldnt have to use hype and marketing to reel you in. You can get all the skills you need online through Google and DVDs. There are better alternatives than college. It's a scam to me.
Between Google, YouTube and Wikipedia I learned how to take apart and reassemble my computer, represent myself in court and how to make some awesome lasagna :)
i dont know why people think wikipedia isnt a reliable source. over 95% of it is fact and the part that most of the time is wrong when anything is wrong is the pages on celebrities
@ThatAngelGurl this is one thing that is wrong, there are almost no schools left in the USA that teach you skills that may be useful or even important skills that you need, like how to get good credit or how to fix and maintain a car or like you said building computers understanding legal documents and cooking.
College is FRAUD, FRAUD, FRAUD. unless you GO for MEDICENE, DENTISTRY OR ANY SCIENTIFIC DESPLINE SUCH AS THOSE THAT WILL QULIFY YOU TO BE A LAB WORKER IN A HOSPITAL. OTHER THAN THOSE MENTIONED DON'T BOTHER GOING TO COLLEGE. This is coming from someone who does computer science and I will tell you my degree is a total waste of money and time. That is why it is hard getting to get in to those college degrees such as medicen , dentistry if you finish them you are almost guranteed to get a job.
I keep saying it's a fraud and my parents think I'm being ridiculous, but really this is my opinion that it's just an excuse for some guy to sit in a chair, call himself the President, and make millions off of tuition, when he or she never made it passed the 11th grade.
To make a living off of your "skills" you must "produce" something! There are plenty of college graduates working right now at Wal-Mart operating a cash/credit card machine. They have nothing to offer the people. On the other hand, I have a close friend who has never attended college and makes over two grand a week repairing automobiles! He has a skill that is in high demand! This is the secret to success!
A "million dollars" is a lot. If it were not, your parents would not have had to work so hard just to save what they did for your college education! Many people of color do not even earn HALF of that in their entire life due to the various socio-economic and political conditions that exist here in the U.S.
As for college being a "waste," it depends upon why you went in the first place. According to you, you did not know what you wanted to do! That is a very naive reason to go to college!
where exaclty did i say i 'did not know what you wanted to do!'? i went in doing computer engineering and science, and havent changed majors once, how is that not knowing and being 'naieve' exactly?
@TENNSUMITSUMA sorry man i dont get what "college" is (im from the UK), i assume its the equivilent to university, because computer science is a degree subject right? so whats with the "major and minor" thing and weight training??? im very confused, over here you do a maths degree, you do maths, you do elec eng and you do just that (including opinal extras relevant like for eng ect. languiges, extra maths for physics ect) isnt school where they force you to do a load of unrelevant bullshit?
yeah its for the most part the same thing. college technically is like a sub univeristy. not as big in any way and less majors, and it is cheaper. sounds like uk is where i should have been. all the required stuff and none of the irrelevant stuffing bullshit.
@TENNSUMITSUMA damn man the more i hear about america the more fucked up it seems (no offense). im sorry to hear about your situation, its fucked up that your actually doing a *good* subject for your degree, over hear its normaly art students that have trouble and they have to earn over "X amount" before they have to pay back any tuition fees.
what are "majors and minors", they like a joint degree?
@jack01237 yes thats true man. America has things that definitely need to be fixed. Also the more I hear about Japan the more fucked up I think it is too. (I am studying Japanese because I chose to take a japanese class and plan to visit there) however yes american schools need to be fixed and What I think is the most fucked up thing in america (regarding college) is that employers always want to see if you have a degree or not.
my parents didnt contribute 1 cent to my college education ever., the reason im in college is cause of grants, scholarships and loans.
a million dollars isnt alot of money, especially in todays day and age ad once inflation is factored in. most people could go through a million dollars just getting out of debt and setting themselves up properly with house car etc, once you get them all then them money to maintain it all isnt there.
@MrTerrificII "Many people of color do not even earn HALF of that in their entire life due to the various socio-economic and political conditions that exist here in the U.S."
u brought up race...for reasons i have no idea. why is race factoring into this
hey ima marylander as well, sorry to here about your situation. ima mech e at umd and im fortunate in that im to be able to go there without accumulating any debt, but i still feel like the cores like sociology are such time wasters
I felt this way around the same time when you made this video. I am majoring in computer science and I still have not taken any relevant courses. A lot of things can be learned with just using books. However, I do believe that the CS degree is just to get you started on the concepts. Structured Programming, Object Oriented, Algorithms, Programming Logic. The rest can be learned on your own. Also! From what I've heard, Graduate School in CS is mostly theoretical if not all.
Yea, Normally, some people who can't get into college or are physically unable to do a job like McDonalds go in the black market and make more money can a rocket scientist, but its illegal though.
its all about making money. doesn't matter how, as long as you do so you can live. i can make money in computers studying myself with a few hundred dollar books than by going to a 'college' or 'university' to rack up 10-100's of thousands
Couldn't agree with you more man. I am teaching myself web design and internet marketing and enjoying it. I looked at web design degrees which has a tuition of 40-90k a year at different schools. I literally just laughed, I can learn all that for free in less time with books and experimentation.
why remove the comment. and i already did get self employed (in addition to my paying job) started my own computer repair company. im making the website right now
Lets face it. There are thousands of careers in society today. Yet the LIE continues to be enforced by government that three of these careers need to be protected and everyone working in the other careers need to pay more and more taxes to ensure the pay, benefits, and retirement of those working in the "Holy" careers. This has got to stop. Government should be an ally for all careers equally.
I was grateful that I only purchased about Three Hundred Canadian Dollars on college books when I was in college. Unfortunately, I don't work in the field where I've learned these courses. Plus, I need to learn how to speak French. It's generally frustrating. I am not against the French people though, I just have a difficulty speaking the language.
Speak your mind brother, it's about the information that you're presenting and not so much bells and whistles to keep people's focus on this video. Great video and please do more. Peace CG
All I got to say is good luck to you. I have a BS in Computer Science, I also have A+ and N+ certifications. Here's the catch, with the economy the way it is right now, you're lucky to even get a job with sustainable pay and be able to keep it. It's a joke out here in the workforce, in order to make good money, you need more certification and experience a HUGE plus!
I hear what your saying. It depends on your situation man. I never finished high school. So my AA in IT/Computer networking got me a start in the military and I then made a bit more money since then, but then I lost just about everything in the recession. LOL. I now have a BSIT/SE and I am going to see how far that can take me. Don't throw the baby out with the bath water. Change schools until you find one you like and graduate. Once you have a degree people WILL give you interviews! For sure!
The credentials you receive at college and university allows you to immigrate quickly into other countries.:) Especially when you get applicable degrees like your own, computer science, engineering, doctor. :) Definite investment.:) Or you can build your own company like Michael Dell, Tyler Perry and Bill Gates.:) International awards are equivalent to degrees. Degrees are less subjective and easy to attain, :)
The bachelor's degree is still relevant.:) I've met many who left the USA and immigrated to Canada with a BFA, or BsC. It's recognized pretty quick when a company wants to move you across borders.
For example without a degree, Chinese immigration policy won't even allow a company to bring someone in unless they've won international awards. Having a degree is still an international all access pass.:) It's proof you went for higher education.:)
As for Tyler Perry. The plays are beautiful and the shows "Meet the Browns" and "House of Payne" are reminiscent of the Cosby Show.:) You don't build an empire by providing the least amount of value. The movie adaptations of his plays sadly, pale in comparison to the original source material. The plays are almost 3 hours, the movies are 90 minutes with camera changes, scene cuts, editing...recommend you see the plays. YOu may walk away with a different opinion
hes the one that directed those movies, he had some if not all say and what he said was that 'black men are gonna look like shit to the entire world in all his movies'
People, PLEASE understand this,Colleges and Universities are BUSINESSES!!!! which means they are just as "Pie In The Sky" and "Get Rich Quick" as any other Infomercial you see on Late Night TV,and remember this,If you have to pay money to do it ,It is a business
and I still got just under 20,000 left to pay and yes humanities, biology, social studies, history, music, english, is bullshit selling of an ideology for 2 yrs. then you get a half ass 2yr tech course on the back half of a half ass tought major was sad and expensive for me, so I read 350 how to do books of 30 different subjects and the ones I was the best at I did for a living and am good at 3 or 4 of them now and can make the cash i need to live not lazyily but ok and still learning every day
wow someone who has figured it out like my self friend tv0039 here keep it upI did 4 yrs and trust me I am still in debt and will be for a while and am only working in the one assit. degree in my pcb repair & OS + software applications. and my other is major was in arch & mech design so am pissed but now I am using one to make a living and the other to invent or build things for me and for selling out right tax free bro with green tech like solar heaters, solar pannels, raised gardening boxes.
@TENNSUMITSUMA mate , I can't write PMs to you , and I can't seem to be able to send you a friend request , so can you give me any contact info? I rly want to talk to you about a similiar situation I'm facing and ask for advice on what can be done , as well as rant about it beyond a youtube comment I guess :)
@TENNSUMITSUMA nah , you need to add be but nvm. I guess I would just like to say how angry I am with the system and the way older folk think about these issues. I study Computer Games Design , and I realized half-way through that what I want to do is programming , and that I don't need a colledge for that so... If I drop out I will have to pay all the money I own so I must graduate... It's just very arrogant how they assume that if you drop out you are some sort of failure...
Sorry but A Plus, Network Plus, and Security Plus don't mean a secure PROFITABLE job anymore. 20 years as a radio-telecommunications and information systems tech with those 3 certs plus MCP/MCSA and experience mean nothing when IT service jobs are mostly overseas now. Money is in database programming, servers, computer programming.
TENNSUMITSUMA, well, a "liberal education," represented by the bachelor's degree, is supposed to produce a well-rounded person. The problem is that colleges keep their students WAY TOO LONG. A BA/BS should not take more than TWO YEARS of full-time study. This FOUR, FIVE, SIX (AND MORE) YEARS is far too long and must go. An alternative would be a vocational school where they dispense with those "electives" that you hate.
@tabletalk33 I agree... too many BS courses designed to subsidize the system from the gov't teet. I am a physics student. It pisses me off that I have to take so many BS courses like writing, public speaking, history, etc. that should be taken care of in the secondary schools. Those BS courses just take time away from my learning physics. Incidentally, physics is one discipline that should best be learned in a controlled environment like a univerisity as it requires a great deal of discipline.
the largest employer in the world is walmart, largest in usa is government. Mostly buracracys that require degrees for people who temp learn for those multiple choice test. Oh then all gov programs/buracracys don't work as they preach they will. they cost us taxes, private and fed personal debt. USA is screwed!!!! Fuck buying parts for cars I'm so screwed I need a horse that eats grass but oh wait buracracys regualate me out of property rights such as having a horse!!! fuck the government
The same thing happened to my son with Japanese language even in high school. He transfered from a great high school to a substandard one, the Japanese class-a language that would actually help him make money later,the new school did not count it as having taken any foreign language course. But Latin does? Gimme a break!! Yes college is a scam!! Great video!
I understand college is a scam. What else can I do. There's a lot I want to do, but everyone is shoving college down my throat and will not support me unless I get in college.
support yourself. or tell them that unless they are giving you an all expenses paid trip through college so you dont have to rack up loans, they can f off
@TENNSUMITSUMA Sheesh, wasn't trying to be taken seriously. Nasa let go a couple thousand people related to the shuttle program, hence the irony being rocket science isn't a good field.
Extortion is contrary to education. Quality of life depends not on jobs so much as the lack of necessity of a job, i.e. - no income extortion, land/home extortion, food/land extortion, monopoly extortion, transportation extortion, etc... If all educated people learn that, there will be no poverty. Schools paid with extortion money promote extortion.
I am an IT professional with 32 years of experience developing software. I got my first job programming assembler language after dropping out of community college. I have always made good money, from 1995 through 2001 i had two employees and was clearing about $230,000 per year. Now I work for a large corp making about $150,000 per year with benefits (post 911 and in a bad economy). I have a HS degree, but love what I do and pursued it with passion.
thats nice, what is this 'cognitive disability'? add? adhd? yeah those are bullshit 'diseases'. its called being bored. one of my fat cow bitches of a manager i used to work with got her degree somewhere in computers and she has dyslexia. there is a guy that is physically and seemingly mentally challenged in my biology class.
2. I think you should talk to an academic adviser at the very least.
3. Maybe you should not go college and instead get the certs. School isn't for everyone much less college nor is everyone ready for it or can afford it at all.
4. It does not mean all schools suck or is a scam.
5. You should have went to a community college and paid less then transfer.
Like make sound ethical decisions, make informed political decisions, understand related fields to your major. In this aspect, I take electives and classes that relate to my major. Things like informal logic really help in computer science and if your school offers it as a social science intro to game theory.
These humanities and social science classes are not specific they give you a wide range of choices to pick from. You just happen to pick useless classes.
'Like make sound ethical decisions, make informed political decisions, understand related fields to your major'
- who the fuck do you think you are tellin me this? you might live in your parents basement with everything paid but i dont. i go to school and work both full time, and have to. i took the classes that fill requirements that also let me work my mandatory schedule. then there is the fact that half the shit you mentioned in your infinite posts aren't even offered were i am
Then you should blame your work schedule itself rather then your college. Did you ever consider that you can't work full time and get a sound education at the same time? Obviously making money to pay for costs is important, but it seems counter-intuitive when it hampers the education you pay for.
2. Next are your Humanities and Social Science requirements. You have to understand you are not going to a vocational school somewhere in the next 50 years of your working career you might actually need to some of the stuff you might have learned in these classes.
i dont have to understand anything. i dont know why youre saying all this cause i dont need you to tell me
'You have to understand you are not going to a vocational school somewhere in the next 50 years of your working career you might actually need to some of the stuff you might have learned in these classes'
- that made no sense. and if i need anything apart from whats needed for my degree ill pick it up myself. i dont need to waste money being forced to take useless classes
@TENNSUMITSUMA I meant school, not vocational school. You do understand that people use computers right and therefore sociology relates to computer science?
And from your other posts it doesn't seem like anyone forced you to take these electives, but rather the relevant ones weren't within your time schedule.
that logic makes no sense. just cause people use computers doesnt mean that its related to computer science. garbage collectors use computers as well, under your logic that means trash collecting is relevant to computer science as well. as is drug dealing since they use computers as well.
where did i say that anyone forced me to take them? if you bothered to listen any at all, youd see that my point is that i shouldn't have to take general classes at all....
@TENNSUMITSUMA Why yes computer science is relevant to garbage collecting both in the algorithms of automation garbage collection simulations computer programs and in designing computer programs that aids in garbage collecting. There's a reason why computer related jobs are in higher demand then other jobs, because they are need anywhere there's a person doing something, from McDonald's cashier to even Garbage collecting (the truck has a computer).
aiight look fucker, you know damn well what i mean. ive worked at mcdonalds when i was 16 (unfortunately) and you dont need computer science to work the register, or say 'medium or large'. the people at mcdonalds arent building the machines or the programs. and the garbage colletors arent building the programs that run the ecu and ecm, etc in the truck. thats what i mean, and you know it.
@TENNSUMITSUMA I never said you need computer science to work at the register I'm saying you'll be designing programs that PEOPLE will use therefore there is at least some small relevance of sociology to computer science. As a basic programmer you need to understand their needs as individuals, how to make sure a program is idiot proof, what the human requirements are, like how best to create a easy to understand user menu for mickey dees.
1 that menu at mc donalds was bullshit when i worked there, and wasnt efficient at all. same thing with the restaurant i used to work at
2 no program is idiot proof as anyone that uses windows, mac or linux will tell you. all you do when you tr to make something idiot proof is you make a better idiot
it doesnt seem like any of what you said was actually used by the people that make these programs or they wouldnt suck as much as they do
@TENNSUMITSUMA 1. Exactly, a Comp Sci.'s job is to make better one or improve that program.
2. I agree but that doesn't mean you stop trying to make your program more intuitive or easy to use.
3. Lol, you have no idea how much debugging is required to make a program ready for commercial use and yes debugging requires a programmer to use the program.
@movcrit Additionally, I'm not here to tell YOU what to do (why bother over the internet anyways between complete strangers?) the only thing I've done is suggest what you "should" do (its your life and I don't know you so I don't give a rats ass what you really do). I obviously have a different opinion on college then you do but that does not mean you need to get angry at me.
the fact that some specialist schools put u right in 2 the classes that are needed 4 the degree, proves that the general classes arent needed. when i was going 2 morgan i was able 2 take computer programming the 1st year i was there, here i have 2 take 4 math classes as 'prerequisites'. my point is, all the bs 'humanities', 'social sciences', etc isnt needed. it doesnt matter what class is taken 4 them.
ps there arent any relevant 1s that my schedule stopped me from taking.
@TENNSUMITSUMA That's because University education's goal is produce well rounded graduates who have a small bit of knowledge in all the other fields hence name "Univers"-ity. Like I said while this knowledge may not benefit you in terms of furthering your career it could benefit you by expanding your view "ethically, philosophical, and politically." If you dislike that approach a different school such as vocational or cert. programs would serve you better if you don't like it.
1. You have a list of classes you have to take in other to enter your department, computer science for the last two years in college. This is usually just Math up to Calculus for most majors. English 1, some Science with a lab, in your major which would be physics and chemistry
I have no idea why you would need to take biology. I used to be a computer sci. major and Biology was never the required.
10. I don't think anyone expects to be paid 6 figures, I sure as hell don't think so but I still pursue my degree because I know my career is.
11. Drugs dealers make a lot of money, big surprise? Is this your evidence? Why mention it in the first place?
I think you should either retract or amend your position its that college is a fraud its that your college sucks and you should have seen a academic adviser before you picked useless classes. Here's how college really works:
11 evidence of what? & i mentioned it cause its true & it disproves the indoctrination that u have 2 go 2 school 2 get money & a good life
i think u shouldnt tell me what 2 do. seeing an academic adviser doesn't mean shit (considering its mandatory 2 c 1, show me were i didnt, leading u 2 tell me i should). all general requirements r useless. i dont need u 2 tell me how college really works, im in it now.
click on all the vids on the side if u think im the only 1 that thinks all this
11. You could have just mentioned real examples of people doing legit work without college degrees like trade work. Plumbers, federal/state workers, some military, and apprenticeships (which you did also mention)
LOL, I am using the word "should" so unless your telling me what to do with ur "i think u shouldnt tell me what 2 do" If I wanted to tell you want to do I would say this:
"You will do X." Rather then "I think you should do X".
7. Why are you taking bio for a technic degree? Bio does nothing for me, even as an elective, and I am an engineering major.
8. Tests prove to employers that you actually knew it?
9. You show 2 books that are probably IT related or programming related since what you describe fits how IT/admin cert works (taking tests) which isn't exactly computer science in a nutshell or something.
@TENNSUMITSUMA 7. It sounds like your work is deterring your education then because physics and chem are very relevant classes for comp sci with labs.
8. You get a degree to prove to employers that you have the skills and knowledge to do the job. They can't tell otherwise especially in just an interview.
5. Why did you take those classes? You can fulfill your social science/humanities credits with major related electives not random Music History classes that sounds easy to do.
For social science I would take Game Theory and Economics. For humanities intro to symbolic or informal logic classes help computer science majors a great deal. For English 101 you need it to basically do basic writting.
6. Music History has to be taken? In what school are you going to.
5 i took those classes cause thats what fit my schedule. what makes you thin that 'game theory' and all that is offered where im going? what makes you think that its accepted as one of my requirements? i dont need english 101 do do basic writing. ive been doing that since elementary school and all thorough out my life
@TENNSUMITSUMA Because game theory is a class offered at least 1 University that I've attended? Obviously I only assume it is offered, if not fine. With the way you are typing I highly recommend you take English 101 again.
6. You asked how music history was relevant to comp. sci. at 6:30. Why would you take it if wasn't related to your Major and not to meet a requirement?
if u dont like the way i type then fuck off. no one is forcing you to be here. insult me one more time on my fuckin channel and ill delete all your comments and block you. i dont need your high recommendation, i didnt ask for it. this isnt english class or a fuckin resume.
6 try listening instead of running your mouth and u wont need to ask such stupid questions. it met one of the general requirements. its not related to computer science. i dont see the point in takin general classes
1. Millions Dollar's not worth much? $20 isn't worth much either then can I have some?
2. You are speculating and asking rhetorical questions about schooling and career choice. You haven't brought up any statistics about schooling and career choices.
3. English 101, some humanities, some history English 101
4. About 24k debt isn't bad over 4 years. A lot of students accumulate more.
1 yeah its not worth much. and why you askin me for some for, what makes you think i have it
2 what the fuck are you talkin about. i didn't speculate anything and none of my questions are 'rhetorical'. i dont need to bring up and stats to be right. ever heard of logic
@TENNSUMITSUMA 1. Because you mention a million dollars not being worth much. It isn't worth as much as it used to be of course but it stil has a lot of worth.
2. All your generalizations are speculation until you can bring up quantities that proves your claims. This is called statistical evidence.
3. Certs or school?
4. Ok, so you plan to go school for 5 years I'm assuming?
i agree with everything said in this video
its all about the benjamins baby

Thatmainchick 3 weeks ago
I had to take a lot of classes I wasn't interested in and ended up having to go back to school again for animation in another state where the School sucked. I tried to specialized at a trade school for comics and animation and the school didnt even teach the basic necessities for getting work in animation. For example 3d animation, digital drawing and storyboads. All that! Not a single thing was taught. I learned the very very very basics of animation and I went out and found animation books.
Thatmainchick 3 weeks ago

Now, I'm doing an apprenticeship in my desired field through a program NOT COLLEGE and..cont'
pixelperfect09 3 weeks ago
cont'...I'll graduate next year. I wish I would've taken a break for 1yr after high school to figure out what I really wanted instead of going to school being undecided. Sadly, most parents want their kid's next step to be college after HS grad. My field isn't easy and won't pay much unless i work my ass off but it's what i truly want and i only had to invest $7750, including books, tuition, programs for my comp., etc $7k compared to the thousands you all paid plus the debt you'll work the rest
pixelperfect09 3 weeks ago

That is a very naive reason to go to college!

i wish you the best of luck mate.

From what I've heard, Graduate School in CS is mostly theoretical if not all.

MrRossT1 2 months ago

'Tyler Perry'
-that imbecile? ha what did he make except anti-black male movies?
as far as 'The credentials you receive at college and university allows you to immigrate quickly into other countries'
- in alot of countries the education thats a phd in america is a batchlors overseas
TENNSUMITSUMA 2 months ago
@TENNSUMITSUMA
MrRossT1 2 months ago
@TENNSUMITSUMA

An alternative would be a vocational school where they dispense with those "electives" that you hate.
tabletalk33 4 months ago
@tabletalk33 I agree... too many BS courses designed to subsidize the system from the gov't teet. I am a physics student. It pisses me off that I have to take so many BS courses like writing, public speaking, history, etc. that should be taken care of in the secondary schools. Those BS courses just take time away from my learning physics. Incidentally, physics is one discipline that should best be learned in a controlled environment like a univerisity as it requires a great deal of discipline.

3. Maybe you should not go college and instead get the certs. School isn't for everyone much less college nor is everyone ready for it or can afford it at all.
4. It does not mean all schools suck or is a scam.
5. You should have went to a community college and paid less then transfer.

@movcrit
this is why i hate when people come on here and start tellin me what 2 do
1 no one said it didnt, i made a fuckin video about it
2 thats a waste of time. considering they didnt even tell me 2 mix in math classes with the bullshit & now everything is bottle necked
3 those books that u didnt know what they are 4, thats what they are 4
4 again look at all the other vids from other people
5 i am at a community college
all ill say is watch this and maybe youll get it
watch?v=zbiGp39ML_0

Like make sound ethical decisions, make informed political decisions, understand related fields to your major. In this aspect, I take electives and classes that relate to my major. Things like informal logic really help in computer science and if your school offers it as a social science intro to game theory.
These humanities and social science classes are not specific they give you a wide range of choices to pick from. You just happen to pick useless classes.

@movcrit
TENNSUMITSUMA 4 months ago
@TENNSUMITSUMA Well didn't you ask for a response?
Then you should blame your work schedule itself rather then your college. Did you ever consider that you can't work full time and get a sound education at the same time? Obviously making money to pay for costs is important, but it seems counter-intuitive when it hampers the education you pay for.
movcrit 4 months ago
2. Next are your Humanities and Social Science requirements. You have to understand you are not going to a vocational school somewhere in the next 50 years of your working career you might actually need to some of the stuff you might have learned in these classes.
movcrit 4 months ago
@movcrit
i dont have to understand anything. i dont know why youre saying all this cause i dont need you to tell me
'You have to understand you are not going to a vocational school somewhere in the next 50 years of your working career you might actually need to some of the stuff you might have learned in these classes'
- that made no sense. and if i need anything apart from whats needed for my degree ill pick it up myself. i dont need to waste money being forced to take useless classes
TENNSUMITSUMA 4 months ago
@TENNSUMITSUMA I meant school, not vocational school. You do understand that people use computers right and therefore sociology relates to computer science?
And from your other posts it doesn't seem like anyone forced you to take these electives, but rather the relevant ones weren't within your time schedule.
movcrit 4 months ago
@movcrit
that logic makes no sense. just cause people use computers doesnt mean that its related to computer science. garbage collectors use computers as well, under your logic that means trash collecting is relevant to computer science as well. as is drug dealing since they use computers as well.
where did i say that anyone forced me to take them? if you bothered to listen any at all, youd see that my point is that i shouldn't have to take general classes at all....
TENNSUMITSUMA 4 months ago
@TENNSUMITSUMA Why yes computer science is relevant to garbage collecting both in the algorithms of automation garbage collection simulations computer programs and in designing computer programs that aids in garbage collecting. There's a reason why computer related jobs are in higher demand then other jobs, because they are need anywhere there's a person doing something, from McDonald's cashier to even Garbage collecting (the truck has a computer).
movcrit 4 months ago
@movcrit
aiight look fucker, you know damn well what i mean. ive worked at mcdonalds when i was 16 (unfortunately) and you dont need computer science to work the register, or say 'medium or large'. the people at mcdonalds arent building the machines or the programs. and the garbage colletors arent building the programs that run the ecu and ecm, etc in the truck. thats what i mean, and you know it.
TENNSUMITSUMA 4 months ago
@TENNSUMITSUMA I never said you need computer science to work at the register I'm saying you'll be designing programs that PEOPLE will use therefore there is at least some small relevance of sociology to computer science. As a basic programmer you need to understand their needs as individuals, how to make sure a program is idiot proof, what the human requirements are, like how best to create a easy to understand user menu for mickey dees.
movcrit 4 months ago
@movcrit
1 that menu at mc donalds was bullshit when i worked there, and wasnt efficient at all. same thing with the restaurant i used to work at
2 no program is idiot proof as anyone that uses windows, mac or linux will tell you. all you do when you tr to make something idiot proof is you make a better idiot
it doesnt seem like any of what you said was actually used by the people that make these programs or they wouldnt suck as much as they do
TENNSUMITSUMA 4 months ago
@TENNSUMITSUMA 1. Exactly, a Comp Sci.'s job is to make better one or improve that program.
2. I agree but that doesn't mean you stop trying to make your program more intuitive or easy to use.
3. Lol, you have no idea how much debugging is required to make a program ready for commercial use and yes debugging requires a programmer to use the program.
movcrit 4 months ago
@movcrit Additionally, I'm not here to tell YOU what to do (why bother over the internet anyways between complete strangers?) the only thing I've done is suggest what you "should" do (its your life and I don't know you so I don't give a rats ass what you really do). I obviously have a different opinion on college then you do but that does not mean you need to get angry at me.
movcrit 4 months ago
@movcrit
(cont)
the fact that some specialist schools put u right in 2 the classes that are needed 4 the degree, proves that the general classes arent needed. when i was going 2 morgan i was able 2 take computer programming the 1st year i was there, here i have 2 take 4 math classes as 'prerequisites'. my point is, all the bs 'humanities', 'social sciences', etc isnt needed. it doesnt matter what class is taken 4 them.
ps there arent any relevant 1s that my schedule stopped me from taking.
TENNSUMITSUMA 4 months ago
@TENNSUMITSUMA That's because University education's goal is produce well rounded graduates who have a small bit of knowledge in all the other fields hence name "Univers"-ity. Like I said while this knowledge may not benefit you in terms of furthering your career it could benefit you by expanding your view "ethically, philosophical, and politically." If you dislike that approach a different school such as vocational or cert. programs would serve you better if you don't like it.
movcrit 4 months ago
1. You have a list of classes you have to take in other to enter your department, computer science for the last two years in college. This is usually just Math up to Calculus for most majors. English 1, some Science with a lab, in your major which would be physics and chemistry
I have no idea why you would need to take biology. I used to be a computer sci. major and Biology was never the required.
movcrit 4 months ago
Here's how college really works:
movcrit 4 months ago
@movcrit
11 evidence of what? & i mentioned it cause its true & it disproves the indoctrination that u have 2 go 2 school 2 get money & a good life
i think u shouldnt tell me what 2 do. seeing an academic adviser doesn't mean shit (considering its mandatory 2 c 1, show me were i didnt, leading u 2 tell me i should). all general requirements r useless. i dont need u 2 tell me how college really works, im in it now.
click on all the vids on the side if u think im the only 1 that thinks all this
TENNSUMITSUMA 4 months ago
@TENNSUMITSUMA
"You will do X." Rather then "I think you should do X".
movcrit 4 months ago
7. Why are you taking bio for a technic degree? Bio does nothing for me, even as an elective, and I am an engineering major.
8. Tests prove to employers that you actually knew it?
9. You show 2 books that are probably IT related or programming related since what you describe fits how IT/admin cert works (taking tests) which isn't exactly computer science in a nutshell or something.
movcrit 4 months ago
@movcrit
7 because it has a lab, and fit my schedule since i also work full time
8 knew what? i dont get the question
9 what
TENNSUMITSUMA 4 months ago
@TENNSUMITSUMA 7. It sounds like your work is deterring your education then because physics and chem are very relevant classes for comp sci with labs.
8. You get a degree to prove to employers that you have the skills and knowledge to do the job. They can't tell otherwise especially in just an interview.
9. Nevermind, besides the point I guess.
movcrit 4 months ago
In what school are you going to.
movcrit 4 months ago
@movcrit
5 i took those classes cause thats what fit my schedule. what makes you thin that 'game theory' and all that is offered where im going? what makes you think that its accepted as one of my requirements? i dont need english 101 do do basic writing. ive been doing that since elementary school and all thorough out my life
6 no one said it hasto be taken.
TENNSUMITSUMA 4 months ago
@TENNSUMITSUMA Because game theory is a class offered at least 1 University that I've attended? Obviously I only assume it is offered, if not fine. With the way you are typing I highly recommend you take English 101 again.
6. You asked how music history was relevant to comp. sci. at 6:30. Why would you take it if wasn't related to your Major and not to meet a requirement?
movcrit 4 months ago
@movcrit
if u dont like the way i type then fuck off. no one is forcing you to be here. insult me one more time on my fuckin channel and ill delete all your comments and block you. i dont need your high recommendation, i didnt ask for it. this isnt english class or a fuckin resume.
6 try listening instead of running your mouth and u wont need to ask such stupid questions. it met one of the general requirements. its not related to computer science. i dont see the point in takin general classes
TENNSUMITSUMA 4 months ago
A lot of students accumulate more.
movcrit 4 months ago
@movcrit
1 yeah its not worth much. and why you askin me for some for, what makes you think i have it
2 what the fuck are you talkin about. i didn't speculate anything and none of my questions are 'rhetorical'. i dont need to bring up and stats to be right. ever heard of logic
3 what about them
4 its not over 4 years its 3
TENNSUMITSUMA 4 months ago
@TENNSUMITSUMA 1. Because you mention a million dollars not being worth much. It isn't worth as much as it used to be of course but it stil has a lot of worth.
2. All your generalizations are speculation until you can bring up quantities that proves your claims. This is called statistical evidence.
3. Certs or school?
4. Ok, so you plan to go school for 5 years I'm assuming?
movcrit 4 months ago
@movcrit
you might need stats and science to tell you what to think and what to believe, i dont. everything i said is fact. you can call it what you want
