  • Walter, this is an awesome video! Great job catching the high rail vehicles and especially the big rig high railer! I was very surprised to see that the big rig actually has a horn mounted and can haul those flat cars rather easily (or so it seems)! Question! Which is more comfortable? The cabin of a big rig hi railer or of a diesel locomotive? ^^

  • Wish I knew buddy I never rode in one of the trucks

  • now that's a truck

  • Thanks I agree with you on that :-)

  • I like how the brandt truck can all of this stuff I espesailly like ur ford there in the begining Pwalpar!!

  • Thanks I do like Ford. I have two, an Expedition and an F-150 Truck

  • OLD Cast P3 Nathan Airchime !! I Live near the old I.C (NOW C.N.) & I.C Used Nathan P5's P3 & P5 Nathans are my favorites . The CN Has a Western Star here in the Memphis area like that . thats got to be 1 tough drive train . & like the old slogan goes : if it anit Allison it anit Automatic !!

  • LOL Thanks Im betting your right and its a tuff ride

  • Now there's something you don't see every day, lol. A truck locomotive! LOL Cool video Walter and yes, I'm still playing catch-up on your video list, lol.

  • Thats OK my friend, Take your time. I appreciate it me amigo

  • another great place to see these trucks is down under in Australia..they have a whole bunch of them...they are mostly Western Stars but i think they have a few peter builts also..its most cost effective to use these rather then a whole locomotive they have the same capabilties but are more mobile since u can drive them to any location via the road to get to the next rail line..another awsome vid..love tht old cast SP horn..i think its a P3

  • Thanks, I appreciate the info.

  • @pwalpar anytime..i forgot to metion tht transit systems in california/Oregon also have these cool trucks...they like them because they can tow 2 LRV's as opposed to one using their standard mover

  • Just looks so odd seeing a road going car on railway tracks, and as for seeing that truck on rail tracks, wow!!!! you guys in America seem to have everything, no matter how odd it looks, a tool for every occasion eh? LOL - I certainly have never seen anything like that before in my life.

Wold love a close up shot of the wheels etc just to see how it all works...

Best catch from you for me Walter :-)) 10*****

  • Thanks Paul, if I get around one stopped, I will video it for you

  • Nice Car Walther

  • Thanks Chris

  • @pwalpar Do you know the guy who drives that truck?

  • Why didn't the first truck trigger the crossing gates?

  • I noticed that as well, perhaps its designed differant so as not to set ot off

  • @pwalpar they have insulated axles on the hi rails on most maint. machines and trucks so they dont shunt the tracks. the brandt road railer truck will shunt especially if they are pulling rail cars.

  • that first bus to cross looks like the one I drive. I notice the second bus left his doors open when he crossed the tracks. That would be a safety issue with my bus company. We have to shut the door before we cross the tracks. CN Railroad has a truck just like that...I have a video of it...

  • Thanks Micah, I saw A church Bus full of kids the other day cross here and not even stop

  • Thanks for the info

  • Bet that turned a lot of heads. Another great catch, Walt. 5*****

    Cutter

  • Thanks Cutter, It was noticed for sure LOL Steve probably thought oh no theres Walter with his camera LOL

  • Interesting I have never sene anything like that!!!!!! gees thats allot of wait for that truck I guess you would need a tone of Horse-Power!

  • Thanks Pat, it is A lot of weight but this truck is special built to pull all that tonnage.

  • I concure with the rest of the You Tubers. Great catch. Never seen a setup like this before. Interesting. Excellent video Walter, as always.

  • Thanks Hans

  • A first for me also

  • Thanks for watching :-)

  • Ohhh trucktrain Very Cool :D,, Very nice Video

  • Thanks very much

  • Walter

I have seen this downtown Toronto a few years back like that pulling box cars.

    Its called saving money LOL

You don't have to pay the driver engineers pay and the operator only needs to have a license to operate a truck.

You don't have to use a multi million dollar locomotive just a cheap truck.

The same as shunting in the yard a man wears a body pack with all the controls.

He rides on the outside of the locomotive and operates it so you don't have to pay

    him engineers wages.

  • Thanks Wayne, I have seen those remote units in operation at some grain elevators

  • wow nice catch! never seen a hy railer pull cars like that lol
