In the mid 20's the majority of the western world was against African Americans being treated equally to whites.
There is very much a difference between marriage and civil unions/no marriage. You lose a lot of benefits, including the right to visit your loved one in the hospital. Ergo, if I'm badly injured while practicing martial arts, if I'm comatose or whatever, my girlfriend could make no choice for me and probably not see me at all. It also matters to adopted children, who WILL experience confusion as to why their friends' parents can marry but their own cannot. It encourages their exclusion.

and started to wave signs that read "Aids cures fags, and God hates fags"

Im straight, I have nobody in my family THAT I KNOW AND LOVE that is gay,
I only have 1 uncle who is atleast 3 times my age ....who I hardly ever met ...who IS gay.
I am not atheist by any stretch of the imagination....I believe in god, I believe in Jesus, and I have almost as much of a fascination with jews as I have with brits.

The point is (including the offense regarding the analogy) that there shouldn't have to be any kind of incentive to defend gay marriage. We have no reason to defend because there are no valid arguments against it yet we are forced to anyway because powerful religious lobbies have contrived arguments against it with no real substance to protect from the religious arguments against it that have no substance behind them at all.

I like this video, it's very deep and insightful, and put together very well. Good job. My personal comment is that me and my fiance have discussed gay marriage (We're in a heterosexual relationship) and while I support it, he doesn't mind, but doesn't really want to see it. But since certain members of my family are gay and a good percentage of my friends are, he's slowly starting to realize that homosexuals and lesbians are good people, just misunderstood by southern society. (I live in NC)

I am totally for gay marriage and I actually got into a fight with my boyfriend because he believes gays can be together but should not be allowed to call their union a marriage. He believes this because he is a religious person. But you are so right. Thank you for posting this video. Hopefully people will see it and actually make them think.

I agree with you. Who's to say that we can control who loves who? If people are born with the preference toward their own gender, then that's just how it is. It's not something that a God can control.
I am good friends with people who are gay, a sibling of mine is, and hell, I believe I'm bi-sexual. To say that people are "sick" and are "sinners" for who they love is wrong.

Well, I'm no American however I believe the first amendment details that.
Also the very fact there is a constitution detaisl the fact of the separation.
And other unanimously signed documents on American foundation clearly detail it (such as the Treaty of Tripoli)
Even if none of those things exist, it is clear America is separated from the church as it has no church. It is multi-religious and you can't have freedom of religion without freedom from religion.

There is very much a difference between marriage and civil unions/no marriage. You lose a lot of benefits, including the right to visit your loved one in the hospital. Ergo, if I'm badly injured while practicing martial arts, if I'm comatose or whatever, my girlfriend could make no choice for me and probably not see me at all. It also matters to adopted children, who WILL experience confusion as to why their friends' parents can marry but their own cannot. It encourages their exclusion.
