well the Joanna spin is not as old as this showdance.

I would like to say that Im Brazilian and I do recognize part of the melody. It is called "Tico-Tico no Fubá". Of course... there is some changes in the body of the song... but I am sure that I can hear this music into it.

Yeah I'd agree that this is a little weird, but let me point out... mostly because there's always someone who points out that "That's not samba!" in every ballroom dance video.

There are a number of BALLROOM samba moves in this dance. Volta movements, shadow rolls, bota-fogos and I think a corta jaca at one point. As well as a lot of paso-doble.

However, for the love of god, do not EVER compare ballroom samba and Brazil samba. They are totally different dances!

Maxim and Yulia are role models for younger dancers who are looking for fresh, creative and daring choreography. They are so talented at combining the 'old school' with new, fun routines that display quality technique. This also applies to Yulia and Riccardo. It is quite easy to forget about the male dancers because the women wear the fancy costumes etc but males are the frame for which the females are able to create all the beautiful movements that they do. Well done Yulia & boys.

OK the intro is hardly recognisable as samba (but the dancing sure is) but at 0.58 it's very clear that it's samba, if you ask me.

as most latin ballroom dancers will know, there are 3 different samba rhythms in latin ballroom samba... but for beginners hard to recognise, that's right :)

I think max and yulia are perhapse one of the best couples ive ever seen, and although they dont dance together anymore their routines will forever be remembered.

Maxim is wonderful..... truly... My mother competed for years.... My last ballroom event was about 15 years ago... I stuck to hip hop and jazz, but still love it.
