The reason there are SO many wicked falls shown with eventing horses is because English riders genrally show in more dangerus events like jumping cross country and steeple chases. Everytime my friend falls off her horse or almost falls off I always say "No try that move without the horn there!" XD

@BSVmaid1991 Looks like her horse bolted, and she bailed. nothing wrong with getting out if you feel like it's going to be dangerous. I had a friend do that, and she avoided getting slammed into a wall.

@TheJumper64 I respectfully disagree. I feel that a crop is meant to be used as a 'forward' aid when the horse is not listening to your leg. Therefore, if you approach a jump and your horse is backing off of it (or one you know your horse will back off of - it was a liverpool jump) and the horse is not listening to your leg, it makes sense to use a stronger 'forward' aid, in which case the proper time to use a crop is coming into the jump.
half the people are just bad riders and cant sit up but others in the video i give them credit because they are jumping huge cross country jumps but the one girl whiping her horse before a jump im glad she fell off! but this is a good video :) hahah
@kyonagirl1998 No she was trying to keep the horse going so it wouldn't refuse, but it did. I know it looks like shes being all 'keep going cuz im smacking you!' but she wasn't. If u ask me. I would have put on more pressure in the lower leg though before going for my crop, but I don't know what that horse is like. It may refuse a lot and the crop works best. :)

The people here are all under the tutelage of a trainer, and likely know EXACTLY what theyre doing. Its a sport, and a wonderful one. Accidents happen. god! at 2:20 that would just piss me off. That wasnt the first time that happened and if i were that rider i'd grab my horse and walk away. even tho you can't get back on after a fall now its just not fair when a jump KEEPS on taking riders/horses out like that. that's when i hate the xcountry part of this. If they cant get the right course designer in there to get the job done then DONT host trials.
@Rachel7861 The jump was closed after that fall and is being removed from the course. They have been using that jump for years and it has never created as many problems as it did that day. The horses that did have trouble on that jump all tried to jump over the bank instead of jumping up and down. Dont know why. Poplar is an extremely tough venue and they have an amazing curse designer. It was an unfortunate event but they did the right thing by closing it to prevent more falls and removed it.
@Fall0utAtTheDisco Yeah i do too. I plan to do Eventing next year but I just hate it when they get hurt over such dumb things. I know they could get hurt on a trailer or on a trail ride etc... but to see this over and over again just makes me hate it! I mean at that level they really need to start making these jumps fall apart and not make them too crazy. These horses are pets too, and i'd hope part of someone's family and life. I know mine is.

I've heard stories of some horses falling when they are whipped sideways at speed, and I would prefer to bail and fall off myself rather than risk the horse falling with me: or else, try to take a larger circle and gradually make it smaller, rather than a sudden, sharp turn.

The people here are all under the tutelage of a trainer, and likely know EXACTLY what theyre doing. Its a sport, and a wonderful one. Accidents happen. Watch some GOOD eventing videos and dont judge something you dont understand.

god! at 2:20 that would just piss me off. That wasnt the first time that happened and if i were that rider i'd grab my horse and walk away. even tho you can't get back on after a fall now its just not fair when a jump KEEPS on taking riders/horses out like that. that's when i hate the xcountry part of this. If they cant get the right course designer in there to get the job done then DONT host trials.

@Rachel7861 The jump was closed after that fall and is being removed from the course. They have been using that jump for years and it has never created as many problems as it did that day. The horses that did have trouble on that jump all tried to jump over the bank instead of jumping up and down. Dont know why. Poplar is an extremely tough venue and they have an amazing curse designer. It was an unfortunate event but they did the right thing by closing it to prevent more falls and removed it.

@Fall0utAtTheDisco Yeah i do too. I plan to do Eventing next year but I just hate it when they get hurt over such dumb things. I know they could get hurt on a trailer or on a trail ride etc... but to see this over and over again just makes me hate it! I mean at that level they really need to start making these jumps fall apart and not make them too crazy. These horses are pets too, and i'd hope part of someone's family and life. I know mine is.

@arablover123 I know it, but I personally wouldn't use it. I've heard stories of some horses falling when they are whipped sideways at speed, and I would prefer to bail and fall off myself rather than risk the horse falling with me: or else, try to take a larger circle and gradually make it smaller, rather than a sudden, sharp turn.
