  • can soneone say to me what's the point of a stirling engine?

  • fapfapfapfapfafpfafpfapfapfapfapfap

  • this sounds stupid but could you also make it run in reverse with cold water, the temperature difference which changes the pressure allowing the engine to run makes sense

  • @Rannyfash it will run in reverse if you spin it the other way can't use cold water to power it.

  • @Dillon12123 lol, not the spinning the other way around, imeant using room temperature air in a cold environment,it would have the same effect as hot air in a room temperature environment, its the temperature difference

  • Could you PLEASE post a "HOW TO" video? Thanks.

  • wheres the DIY?

  • Come on drawings plea se

  • can i use pepsi can?

  • great little sterling engine - love it

  • How you do it? Please I need help D:

  • what is a stirling engine???

  • How does it work?

  • what the principle for that in simple?? how that work like that??

  • so is that brass tube thats the same diameter as the post holding the wheel up where the piston is? and is that the only piston? or is there another piston or a rubber diaphragm in the can?

  • Nice!

  • ive always wanted to build a stirling cycle engine do hace like plans for it you can send me

  • @Adawg4008 -- its a stirling engine you retard. are you in the second grade. fucking die idiot. fucking third world asshole. ever seen something spinning before?? amazing huh?!

  • You need to hook this up to a dynamometer!

  • awsome job! how about posting any plans or diy instructions of this engine?

  • that is cool

  • AWESOME! great work on this one .

  • Man look at that thing go!

  • Splendid build! Runs like a charm and on only a cup of hot water! Amazing

  • 12 people have no warm water..

  • it's so cool! what how you did that?

  • how many horsepower?

  • @johnevon1 The Stirling engine will run off of almost any external heat source, including warm water.

  • what does this do

  • Definitely bought that

  • "A novel way to recycle aluminium cans"

I prefer recycling aluminium cans by manufacturing cars' engines.

  • cute lol

  • what did u use as a support?

  • what did u use to make the flat top

  • I am thinking that is a purchaced stirling engine with a coke can wrapped around it............what a complete tosser !!!

  • so the smaller piston is cinnected to the displacer on the inside and the larger piston is connected to what?

  • how can you make the coke can a little bit more solid ?

i wanna do a stirling engine with a coke can and i want to have a piston in there

can someone help me what to remember when doing this ?

  • Ya knows what dis means? I means we has to go back, BACK TO DA FUTURE!

  • MMM, perpex ring yes we all know what that is.

  • sweet i wonder how the guy who invented felt when he did it i think that he would cream like crazy saying" IT WORKED IT WORKED !"

  • Can i use a lipstich for the small piston?

  • @technology49 If it works, yes. If it doesn't, try something else.

  • free energy.......just heat uo the vodka and place a cold water cup .and ops

  • II bukid a wind generator .byt this is just so simple and awsome.

    thank you for the video.

  • hey 1967geezer i was wondering if u can show an intro on how to build it because im doing this for a science fair and i'm having trouble building it

  • how dose this work?

  • nice what did you use for a displacer?

  • @wristp1n The displacer is a closed cylinder of styrofoam, the blue type used in building insulation.

  • @1967geezer nice and lightweight

  • @1967geezer that's a good idea..

  • Looks really nice!!! I advise you paint it;) Ppl will think it's a professional engine!

  • very cool good job dude.

  • its magic

  • I searched a long time to find some plans to build one of these can stirlings. In the end there was just one Tutorial existing of this certain type.

It is: "Der Stirlingmotor einfach erklärt und leicht gebaut" from Dieter Viebach.

The book is in german and i never found a pdf or other free tutorials to build one. If you know a good link, you are free to send it to me or post it on this wall.

  • Wow. This is the first time I've heard of this. I'd like to make one but I don't have a clue how to make the parts...

    Off to the internet!

    Nice vid.

  • O MAH GAWD TEACH ME!

  • :D oh Nice :3

  • I can't understand how to make that engine, but who cares.. as long as there is a spinning wheel it looks cool....

  • Nice one ;)

  • nice job 1967 geezer...by the way is the your birthday? well....to bad the youth of this generation has forgotten the joy of these sort of things alas its kinda appalling ....I'm a child of 13 and i love these sort of things and as u can see I'm very smart...can u please befriend me.id love to be friends with you...i suppose your good with your hands since you take the time to build things

  • @chickenpoper Sound like a plea to get abused

  • @kel1981 hey dude i may be able to talk as if i was from along time ago but i usually dont...im actually like any 13 year old im just smarter

  • @chickenpoper Well, if you are 13, you sound like an interesting kid with a decent head on his shoulders.

  • What's this used to anyways :D

  • Hey! You could attach a fan to that and on hot days sit it in your coffee

cup on your desk and COOL OFF! NO BATTERIES!

  • Buddy now that's a WORLD BEATER if I ever saw one!

  • That is mondo cool. I want to make one as a tea steeper lid for a tea fanatic friend!

  • Mr.Stirling will be happy with people like u :)

  • Is this a beta type stirling? I was just wondering because of the external piston.

  • @legox50 gamma

  • @legox50 gamma. beta doesn't have an external piston.

  • This looks so cute ^^

  • Umm...How is the bottom side of the displacer you used in this particular model...AFAIK, the smaller the gap between the hot plate and displacer better the performance...So, did you shaped bottom side of displacer to fit to coke can bottom? If not, i'm thinking to glue some sandpaper to cut can bottom and sand a foam displacer...Does it make sense? Thanks for the video...

  • @sizenevermatters The bottom of the displacer is shaped to fit the can. It's true that the smaller the gap the better, but as I recall in this engine the gap is about 2-3mm. That's quite a large gap within the scale of the engine, but it still runs. If I ever make another I might try to reduce the gap and try to get it running off hand heat.

  • very cool

  • Coca-Cola. It will save the world.

  • Coke is sweetened with corn syrup, which isn't healthy.

  • man geezer, i feel your pain. youtube isn't the place to gain detailed information, its a place to share ideas. then, if your interested enough in the idea presented by others, dont ask them to be some probono professor, go out an do a bit of research. heaven forbid people have to stray away from the web page there on to get a little more information.

  • In the time it took that guy to complain, he could have typed in the goodle search bar " how a sterling engine works". globallywarmdude, you represent all that is wrong with todays youth. and being apart of todays youth, i am greatly offended.

  • @honorablebradio Thank you for your support.

  • @honorablebradio Thank you ;-)

  • Fantastic video, it is a shame there are too many stupid comments from lazy people who can not be bothered to google "Stirling engine". GloballyWarmDude, i suggest you purchase Applied Thermodynamics by T.D.Eastop if you require more of an explanation

  • @mirek11111 Thank you for your support.

  • wow i love it, it's such a meticulous thing (y)

  • can u make a vid on hoe ot make it

  • thats a very nice engine did you build it totaly from scratch? how long did it take you to machine all the parts?

  • yours is one of my favorites

  • My goodness why don't you say something. Why would you go to the effort of making a video without explaining anything? What a waste of my time. I came here to learn something not watch a hand moving a coffee cup with a spinning thingy on top.

  • @GloballyWarmDude There is no voiceover on this video. I didn't put one one for a number of reasons, none of which I feel inclined to explain to you.

  • I certainly respect your right to remain silent, perhaps you are in the witness protection program or your voice is like nails draged across a chalkboard. But try to see this for a viewers perspective. I don't know what I am looking at, I am curious and I want to understand. So perhaps offer some typeover or something.

  • @GloballyWarmDude Some advice for you.... If you come across something you are curious about, go and research it, like I did. If the information is not all there on a plate for you don't complain, just go and find it somewhere else.

  • @1967geezer thanks for the video. Keep them frustrated, its funny to read.

  • @GloballyWarmDude What is there to say? It's a stirling engine made out of a coke can. That's what the title says, and that's what's in the video. The title was not "this is how a stirling engine works" or "how to build a coke can stirling engine". If you want to know how it works, it's very easy to google or even find on youtube. Even just look at the recomended videos on the right.

  • @GloballyWarmDude hey perhaps hes deaf so am i so just respect his wish :-)

  • @GloballyWarmDude hey perhaps hes deaf So am i Just respect his work

    @1967geezer nice work ThumbUp xD

  • is this how crank cars were powered?

  • @SomethingSimples Not sure what you mean by crank cars??

  • @SomethingSimples

No, "crank cars" were cranked because the electric starter had not yet been invented. The crank started the internal combustion engine going until it could run itself. This is an external combustion engine.

  • pls show us how did you do that... thnkz

  • @darksatelite01 He made this, didn't buy it.

  • Hey!! Really cool Stirling engine!!! =D

I am currently doing one for a thermodynamics class, and I reaaaally need it to work hehe, so I was wondering, you used a regular coca-cola can for the pressure vessels, right?? what type (e.g. trademark or anything XD) of can did you use for the displacer inside??? and another thing, did you sealed somehow the piston?? I mean, for no pressure losses?? thank you very much for your help and again, congrats =)

  • @JDORJUELA The displacer is made from a hollow block of styrofoam. The piston is a very close fit but still slides in the cylinder, this is all that makes the seal.

  • please, how to make a tutorial

  • @willilover one day maybe

  • How to make that??

  • and the use?

  • @railrdr523 Not taken from any website, designed myself.

  • This is freaking awsome... where can I buy the small components???

  • @yumyumluckycharms All designed and made by myself, you can't buy the parts anywhwere

  • so cute and busy

    I like it

  • Stoer

  • put a fan blade on it

  • A fan blade, and some heatsink fins. It'll help the "cold" side of the motor shed heat and stay colder than the "hot" side, and more temperature difference = more power!

Of course, adding the fan means adding more work for the motor to do, so it's hard to say if you're actually coming out ahead power-wise on that deal.

  • very nice!

  • iT´S POSSIBLE TO BUY THIS APPARATUS?

  • @lekunberriko1 its a coke can and some paper clips dude. Figure out how to make it on your own

  • can u tell us what other metrial used oher than coke can >> and how to make it if possible ^.^

need it 4 my project i asked a lot but no one answered...

  • @kawaiiushii I would like to post plans on the internet but I just don't have time to draw them all up. Maybe one day :-)

  • could you possibly send me some links to web sites about this or plans i am very intrested in this

  • If you have enough time please post a how to video. I still can't figure out how it works.

    But anyway this is cool.

  • Please post link to drawings.

  • @HugeJasFilms There are no drawings, I can't seem to find the time to draw them up.

  • Most motors need a helping hand, your car has a starter right??

  • @CoCutthroat sure your car needs a starter to turn over, but does it run on warm water??

  • yes, because no one has ever used a starter motor in a standard combustion engine...

    OH WAIT

  • THAT WAS AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!! 5 STARS!

  • wow very nice man

i'll show this to my teacher (:

    good work

  • HAHAHA i like it that is the best stiring engine

  • I invite you to come see my little animated video made with a can of pepsi ... Thanks for the visit.

  • good work

  • Hallo,

Hast du dafür eine Anleitung? Bzw. Die Masse wie gross der Abstand zwischen Kolben und Gehäuse ist?

    Danke + Tolle gebaut!

  • Translation of Pyrbels comment :

    Hello,

Do you have instructions for it? Eg. the dimensions what's the space between the cylinder and the casing?

    Thanks + great construction!

  • @RonAlmeida From memory I'd say there is a difference of 8-10mm between diameters of can and displacer.

  • @1967geezer Thanks, I was only trying to translate it for our German friend @Pyrbel.

  • @Pyrbel Der abstand zwischen kolben und gehause ist ungefehr 8 bis 10mm.

  • Great work! is there a plan for this in the internet?

  • nice work with the valve and the piston, very nice and accurate.

  • how can i make one itl be a nice thing to have

  • Love these engines but where exactly does the recycling take place? Heat is converted into movement but then it's completely wasted.

  • Well unless you connected the flywheel to a shaft which leads it to a generator.

  • I think he's referring to the soda can being recycled.

  • because theres this big ball of gas in the sky called the sun that does the heating.

  • I wish I can be as artistic like him!! Is so cool! Saving energy!

  • omg! just get ova it... cause its real!!!

  • maggot.. which vagina were u from? that is called engineering u damn ass

  • Hi i would like to know how did you make the pistons or where did you bought it, thanks.

  • omfg

    that is soo friggin cool

  • imagine what the heat of one cup of coffee could do!

    awesome achievment Man!!!!!

  • it's very interesting

    I'm from Brazil

    by

  • is it powerful?

  • No, it wouldn't generate a lot of torque unless it was considerably bigger.

  • can u make a tutorial to make one? that is the coolest thing ever!

  • incredible, love it, looking at doing a basic stirling engine myself, but this, ... wow

  • lol very nice 5/5

  • how do u make thiss

  • You can easily get 4000 revs out of one of these if you do it well enough, my uncle has one.

  • the interesting thing is stirling engines have been around for a long time. but could still possibly surpass the modern combustion engine. the only problem being that since its a heat engine it will only ever make at most 50% of the energy possible... i know that in the 70's Ford and chevy tried to incorporate the stirling into their cars... but unlike the combustion engine, it doesnt start instantly.. thus the end of stirlings in cars

  • Stirling Engine is next trump card

  • that's not a fake look at wikipedia

    Stirling Engine ! you idiot!

  • lol what an idiot

  • dude, there was a whole history special on alternative engines. The stirling got its own 15 minute segment.

  • you put battery and some small dynamo for this in the can?

  • 这是什么?

  • yeah.. what he said!

  • totally! hahaa

  • LOL!

  • malek a khoya .. yéshablik chnawa hna daba !? hhéhé warak 3alam al 3Awde nchoufouk jolie

  • that is so cool

can you send me the plans?

  • Could you send me plans for this would be great

  • I say we race these babies!! Who's in?

  • hey!

if you use a steel can, it takes more time till the can is warm on the top and so it will run for the whole day. we made a stirlingengine in school, maybe i'll post a vid.
