Even if the ice is melting due to normal variations, the rate that we are putting CO2 into the atmosphere at the same time will definitely enhance the effect that the globe used volcanoes over thousands of years to do the last time, when the foundation for oil was made. Yes oil is as we know old organic life that was in the water feeding on the CO2 from the atmosphere (tons of algae), rotting away in still seas as there was no polar ice to keep the water moving.
So essentially we are repeating what the nature did before in the form of volcanoes. We are just doing it at an insane rate by burning fossil fuel, feeding the atmosphere with CO2 the same way. The question is not if the oil runs out, its when? It is estimated that there is enough reserves still to feed the atmosphere many times the amount of CO2 that was natural by volcanoes back when the waters became dead and toxic. Back then it was a gradual change, now its happening at an alarming rate.
One would be wise now to teach your children to live with much less access to oil, teaching them to look for alternative energy resources, and generally reduce consumption. Continued growth is not possible with continued population increase at the current rate, especially since peak oil production has just passed us. Rather than fight the change, try to adapt to it, its much easier and will make all our lives much better as we should be prepared to what the globe has in store for us next.
The only reason it is melting, is because of us goddamn humans who use to much heat, what's wrong with cold? Ever try a cold shower? A cold drink? Swim in a cold pool? Think about how much global warming will stop!

its very unlikely that sea ice will be completely gone that fast. I mean if you look at the first years it never went on a straight line , it took curves and changed. It could happen again in the future. and to say that an ice free arctic would cause the permafrost to melt and then cause runaway climate change by melting more than what man makes is a prediction that could happen, but its extremely pessimistic

It seems unlikely to me that nature would contain such a positive feedback mechanism like ice-albedo feedback. From my days doing pole-zero diagrams in control engineering classes, it appeared that unstable systems tend not to exist in nature for prolonged periods.
PS. I'm not a troll. I have a healthy skepticism of both AGW and AGW-skeptics. I'm genuinely interested to hear or be pointed in the direction of a video that explains this anomaly of nature. (if it is an anomaly?)
@mangoswiss Are the unstable systems U studied living systems or non-living natural cycles? If nonliving what would be the reason they would stop? Earth's Milankovitch Cycles lead us from ice age to interglacials and back. This happens on a regular basis. In interglacials the poles are ice free. We also know that while the M cycles start things changes in CO2 level and ice albedo magnify the changes. Past climate change can only be explained with these feedbacks.

When we did apply the theorem it was in the context of electronics so the limits were the limits of things like amplifiers. If you left a positive feedback system to go make a cup of tea, you could be pretty sure the output would be sitting on a voltage rail. So why isn't this the case with positive ice-albedo feedback? Why not a permanent ice age or interglacial?
@mangoswiss There's a difference between the 2 types of feedback. The electronic + feedback in the amplifier is multiplied by the same factor each cycle. This leads to runaway effects. The feedbacks in climate effects are logarithmic. The first cycle of feedback will be large but then get progressively smaller with each cycle. Within a few cycles the effects are inconsequential

@rugbyguy59 I've read the explanation at skepticalscience a few days ago. I'm not sure that what your describing is a stable system irrespective of whether the feedback is logarithmic or not. Still sounds like an unstable system to me. Even non-linear electronic amplifiers are unstable and as they approach the limits the gain tends to drop logarithmically. I guess I'll just have to have more of a think about this.

@cupera1 If you search for "medieval warm period" at NOAA's homepage, you will see that the warm period was as warm as today or slightly cooler. Nowhere does it say that it was "3-4 degrees warmer". Also, almost all of the warming was occuring at the Northern Hemisphere.

The worst part is that as ice melts, sun rays reflection diminishes, as oceans absorb heat better than the ice itself due their color. Thus global warming feeds itself.

So essentially we are repeating what the nature did before in the form of volcanoes. We are just doing it at an insane rate by burning fossil fuel, feeding the atmosphere with CO2 the same way. The question is not if the oil runs out, its when? It is estimated that there is enough reserves still to feed the atmosphere many times the amount of CO2 that was natural by volcanoes back when the waters became dead and toxic. Back then it was a gradual change, now its happening at an alarming rate.

One would be wise now to teach your children to live with much less access to oil, teaching them to look for alternative energy resources, and generally reduce consumption. Continued growth is not possible with continued population increase at the current rate, especially since peak oil production has just passed us. Rather than fight the change, try to adapt to it, its much easier and will make all our lives much better as we should be prepared to what the globe has in store for us next.

It seems unlikely to me that nature would contain such a positive feedback mechanism like ice-albedo feedback. From my days doing pole-zero diagrams in control engineering classes, it appeared that unstable systems tend not to exist in nature for prolonged periods.
PS. I'm not a troll. I have a healthy skepticism of both AGW and AGW-skeptics. I'm genuinely interested to hear or be pointed in the direction of a video that explains this anomaly of nature. (if it is an anomaly?)

@mangoswiss Are the unstable systems U studied living systems or non-living natural cycles? If nonliving what would be the reason they would stop? Earth's Milankovitch Cycles lead us from ice age to interglacials and back. This happens on a regular basis. In interglacials the poles are ice free. We also know that while the M cycles start things changes in CO2 level and ice albedo magnify the changes. Past climate change can only be explained with these feedbacks.

When we did apply the theorem it was in the context of electronics so the limits were the limits of things like amplifiers. If you left a positive feedback system to go make a cup of tea, you could be pretty sure the output would be sitting on a voltage rail. So why isn't this the case with positive ice-albedo feedback? Why not a permanent ice age or interglacial?

@mangoswiss There's a difference between the 2 types of feedback. The electronic + feedback in the amplifier is multiplied by the same factor each cycle. This leads to runaway effects. The feedbacks in climate effects are logarithmic. The first cycle of feedback will be large but then get progressively smaller with each cycle. Within a few cycles the effects are inconsequential

@rugbyguy59 I've read the explanation at skepticalscience a few days ago. I'm not sure that what your describing is a stable system irrespective of whether the feedback is logarithmic or not. Still sounds like an unstable system to me. Even non-linear electronic amplifiers are unstable and as they approach the limits the gain tends to drop logarithmically. I guess I'll just have to have more of a think about this.

@cupera1 If you search for "medieval warm period" at NOAA's homepage, you will see that the warm period was as warm as today or slightly cooler. Nowhere does it say that it was "3-4 degrees warmer". Also, almost all of the warming was occuring at the Northern Hemisphere.
I don't have to admit that there isn't any consensus over man made climate change. There is no consensus about anything. Also, one of these 7 papers were made by Stephen Schneider. You know who that was?

It gives you a 50% chance towards the 20%...which is actually 10%..much lower chances... My advice...follow Christ's teachings which include peace, love, reverence to the Father, sharing , caring, and equality and you will be fine. 1. do you actually see ice melting or shiny surface when they show film of ice breaking away.. and is it really ice? when it snows it stays in snow form and presses down to form a less stable ice than the type that would be caused if it melted then stayed hard block of ice..
2. ever watch ice road truckers? how can that show exist if driving on ice ocean land is still being kept up..

Try this instead, set ice on a grill over the water, this will represent the ice in glaciers in places like Greenland and the Antarctic and melt the ice, see if the water rises. Then there is the specific albedo of ice vs sea water. I wonder what happens if the Gulf Stream shuts down because of the sudden loss of cold sinking water from the arctic? Finally, water expands the hotter it gets. This is the smallest effect of the 3, only good for 5 to 10 feet of rise.
