The problem was that the person who wrote out the explanation wrote the right side of the equation wrong. (A+X-2X) was wrong on step 3. Instead, he or she should have been written (A+X)-2X. The answer was both side had to be equal, in this case, ZERO because the value of both side were subtracted in the proof.
