Marc could play a Mexican Strat through an Indonesian Fender Frontman and you know who he would sound like? Marc Flippn Ford!! It aint the gear, its the player. Tore me up when he left the Crowes...but you gotta respect that it was his decision and thats what he felt he had to do to stay alive....Theres more to life than playing to 10,000 people every night..I got nuttin but love for the man! Crowes did just fine pickin up Luther and the last 2 tours kicked ass....
Considering the Crowes latest studio material and subsequent poor tours with crappy replacements, Ford got out when the getting was good yet again, from a musical standpoint. That's not really a question. Maybe someday they'll all be on the same page, musically where it's interesting not just for Chris and Rich and their bloated, mediocre music.
@windtested I don't know what tours you've seen since 2005, but even with their 'crappy replacements' the Crowes seemed to be a band on top of their game as far as live shows go.
@sowhatdude1 - the brothers brought Ford back in 2005 but Ford left The Black Crowes in August 2006. He left The Black Crowes so he could play bars with 10 people present (2 paying attention to the music). This time around Ford's the total moron.
@IvanLendl87 Very unfortunate that Marc is gone from the Crowes, but he is doing what he wants to do - producing etc. and the Crowes have done ok with Luther...a shame but shit happens...
What the hell is happening here? Surreal man. Is he playing a wedding reception or some kind of yacht club benefit? People carrying around what looks like cake and talking? Marc Ford people. MARC FORD. This is just uncomfortable.
Fans of Marc Ford: Marc played lead guitar on Chicago-based Americana/soul band Flame Shark's new album "Farm Life." Fuzz pedals in hand, Marc brought his signature tone and style to Chicago for a 15 hour session. Check flamesharkmusic(dot)com for pre-orders and more info.
Babe Ruth vs. Hank Aaron, Lance Armstrong vs. Eddy Merckx, Walter Payton vs. Emmit Smith etc. Marc and Jimmy were/ are both virtuosos. The difference is that Marc is still alive, Jimmy's not, and Marc will probably never gain the same notoriety and legend status as Jimmy. They both command the guitar and are brilliant in their own right: end of story.
Marc is TOTALLY a hero...I'd say that this is one of the dumbest things that u've EVER said, but then again, the fact that u did makes me think otherwise...
sounds like you never heard about Marc Ford before... you must go and listen to him playing with the black crowes or his solo albums and maybe you can understand why somebody told you that..he's definitively one the best players..
Thanx! Live version is fucking great, personally I didnt care for the sound he got for the Its about time album. couldve been a littel more bare bones ya know.
my favorite guitarist.. ever since seeing Marc play with the Crowes I knew he could fly on his own just fine!! Marc your vocals are cool too, just love the tone and feel of your playing!!
hey, what an unresponsive crowd!! I'd be getting my Marc freak on ! whats wrong wit dem ppl? when Marc plays I CAN'T quit dancin' & with The Neptune Blues Club? OMG! time to freaken get down and move around!
Very nice, great tones coming out of the Paul and Black Face. The band sounds really fine also, nice quality of sound and picture. I miss Marc as well along side Rich and Chris but he's on to his own thing now so best of luck to him.
that's absolutely beautiful.....thanks for sharing..can't believe the ladies on the left talking their way through such a great performance. Disgraceful ladies...
