  • I also have a 75g and have been deciding how many LEDs to do. Im going to use the 3w crees. How many 1w LEDs of each color do you have and do you have a par measurement? I'm looking to replicate a 250w metal halide in intensity so I can eventually go sps.

  • anyone have any research on the marineland reef capable light.....thinking about ordering the 48"-60" reach? or experience first hand thanks?

  • beautiful ligting recif83.blog.mongenie.com

  • Hey do you have some kind of a glass under the LEDs so that the salt or humidity can't reach them ?

  • I just brought some led floodligts and rigged them over my reef tank, i am running a 14000k metal hilide floodlight in the middle, it looks awsome and the corols love it

  • You may want to turn down your power heads. Your green chromie and hippo tang look like a salmon trying to swim up stream against the current.

  • @sinbadvett bullshit

  • you run your cool whites at 1amp how much ma current do you drive your blues?

  • How wide is your tank

  • nice dory =)

  • pflanzenlicht24.de

    gibts Aquariumlampen

  • hey cancel your reef central, make a reef tank account

  • I wonder what LEDs and MHs would look like together?

  • how is the para vs MH's para?? can u keep acro's with LED's?

  • Hi, I was wondering what kind of led’s did you use and what kind of power source you use to. Like did you use ballast or some 12v power adapter?

  • Hi, I was wondering what kind of led’s did you use and what kind of power source you use to. Like did you use ballast or some 12v power adapter?

  • How have you corals been doing since the switch to LED? Are the SPS liking it?

  • Brother could you tell me how many colours have you used in this to get the colour in the video and it looks just fabulous. I' am waiting for your advice. Is that costly....?

  • WOW!

  • with the open top doesn't the room smell?

  • @4k3el If tank water ever smells then you aren't taking very good care of your fish..

If everything is in balance it should actually kind of smell good and earthy.

  • Are those lights strong enough to keep your tank healthy?

  • beautiful realisation

where can we find info to do the same ramp ?

    thanks

  • dude this pretty coool

  • Yo can u send a cop of the specs to me?

  • Hey, I saw your build thread on ReefCentral, and I was planing on following it exactly for my 75 gallon build, how are your corals doing

  • Do they give off heat? Enought heat to raise the temp on your tank?

  • Nice tank!

  • TMC led are good but you need a lot of them i had to get 2 blue strips and 3 panel ones for a 400 liter tank

  • i use leds they are fine for lps softies and sps i grow monti under mine

  • I heard that LEDs are pretty good but they are better suited for softies. On reefcentral someone mentioned that LEDs are not recommended for harder corals such as Acros, Montipora and Clams. How do you feel about that?

  • iv seen a sps tank with LED's somewhere on youtube i think they said they had been using them n the tank for six months. but dont quote me on that

  • @dmontalvo15 not sure about clams or Acro well my montipora seems to be doing well so far

  • hang on iam lost im new to marine (setting up slowly) so u can have a running tank with led's and reef still growing and its better then floros and metal halids ?

so how are all the leds conected ? thanks

    btw very nice tank

  • I have a 22 gal that is 20 in deep 16 in wide how much would it cost to build a led array to keep shrooms and xenia.thanks

  • Very nice build, i read your thread on RC, good job. Just want to know how the SPS's are doing... I see you have some monti caps and acros?

  • Very nice Soundwave. Is that shimmer from your LED's? I assume it is.

  • Sure is. It shimmers like Halides never could.

  • @soundwave2thousand hey love the tank, but if you would like some new LED Pixle sticks for your aquarium, please check out bblites.com. we have a three color stick. red, green, and blue. they are water proof and we also can install auto-fade mode. please ask questions for more information.

    thanks

  • Whats better to use, the buckpucks or the drivers?

  • Well, Buckpucks are drivers.

  • hi i cant find ur build thread on reefcentral

  • hello, these LEDs are of 1w or 3w each? thanks

  • About 3, I guess. They run at 1 Amp and wattage is kinda irrelevant.

  • Hi soundwave, about how much did this cost to build????

    thanks lucifa

  • Right at $600.00.

  • @soundwave2thousand for just the lights?

  • @soundwave2thousand why go through the hassle of building your own when you can buy some for about the same price, maybe a little more?

  • how long have you had this up? Are you getting good results? I am running halides and would love to go cheaper!

  • Ive had this going since February of 2009. It still has beautiful output and the results are amazing. I can go buy a coral or trade one with a fellow reefer and we each get different results. The corals I receive change color as do theirs. The ones I get change in a good way. Colors come out that halides couldn't accomplish. The tank is way different looking now than in this video. I wish I still had a camera that took videos...

  • how did you build the light

    how much did it cost

i would love to build this light for my tank but i would need the specs

  • Comment removed

  • The LEDs last for about 10 years before needing replacement. You spend a little more than a halide fixture would cost but in the long run, you save tons. The power bill is noticeably less, as well.

As far as a comparison to halides, they are hard to compare. Par is about the same as 250 watters, though.

  • I`m curious, how long do the LED`s last for before having to replace them?

Actually overall, How do these compare with halide?

And, thank you for this build and information share. I`m planning a 90gal reef and think I`ll DIY an LED fixture.

  • What kind of equipment u have in your tank dude? did u got your overflow of EBAY? what kind of filtreation u have in your sump dude?

  • nice tank ! how did you get all that coralline ?????

  • Standard 75 Oceanic Glass... The sides aren't really clean, just coralline covered... The rock is a mix of Fiji, Tonga, and a few others... About 60ish pounds worth... I used CPVC pillars and drilled the rock...

    Thank You!

  • One of the best reefs I've seen on youtube!

Questions: is this acrylic or glass? What do you use to keep the sides clean? LOVE your live rock- any idea what kind it is or where you got it from? Much more interesting then basic figi rock. How many pounds did you use? What did you use to stick the rock together? Would love to see a vid of your filtration. Awesome!
