One of the main reasons wolves declined is because of the rise of Christianity and this quite simply isnt talked about enough. These animals in the days prior to Christianity in Europe were something that was killed mainly for coats in winter but in Pagan/Norse/Celtic/Native Indian and many other faith systems this animal was worshipped and to kill was considered bad omen. If you cleared the wolf from the area under Christian rule you removed bad luck and curses and this idea remained until now.
we as humans can learn a lot from Wolves! look at their family structure, care of each other, intelligence, freedom - they were here first! they are magnificant animals! why must we as humans kill our brothers and sisters? It's not bad enough they are being killed but when they are hunted by helicopter, snowmobile,, etc., what chance to they have? I wish they could be the hunters of the ones hunting them! I pray the Goddess protects as many as is possible before they are only on videos!

Hm. I'm a little curious to why exactly wolves are so worshiped on the internet. Personally, i love ungulates. I love sheep, I love the musk ox that wander the plains, and I don't want to live somewhere where there are no roe deer looking at me from within the morning mist when I wake up. Why is it so different for a hunter to kill a wolf compared to when a wolf kills a deer? If the hunter kills it legally, respectfully and humanely, and does not waste the meat, why is it so much more wrong?
Wolves, to me and as I can see many others, are beautifully majestic creatures. We can't stop people from hunting them, people who do find it sickly entertaining and don't understand them. But to each their own but when the time comes, maybe some will regret their decision.

@Grey13Human actually we kind of are. thinking about it as a whole. every other animal grows to fit it's environment people are grossly overpopulated that we are using mass amounts of resources we don't have. we kill each other on a mass scale over nothing. yes other animals kill for fun (some do) but rarely each other and not of such a grand scale. we have lost our roots in light of comfort and ease. and we wonder why the world has so many health problems

Hm. I'm a little curious to why exactly wolves are so worshiped on the internet. Personally, i love ungulates. I love sheep, I love the musk ox that wander the plains, and I don't want to live somewhere where there are no roe deer looking at me from within the morning mist when I wake up. Why is it so different for a hunter to kill a wolf compared to when a wolf kills a deer? If the hunter kills it legally, respectfully and humanely, and does not waste the meat, why is it so much more wrong?

Wolves, to me and as I can see many others, are beautifully majestic creatures. We can't stop people from hunting them, people who do find it sickly entertaining and don't understand them. But to each their own but when the time comes, maybe some will regret their decision.

Im a wolf literly. yet nobody knows it i give off clues to it i necklace with a wolf howling at a moon i have wolf howling at a cresent moon on the top of my class ring i showed it to one of my teachers and they started to joke with me is that you howling at the moon i almost replyed yes to her in the middle of class but again i rather not get hunted down by people who kill my kind. when i was yonger i used to growl at people and bite them all the time. but at the age i am now i had to stop

The RAven is one of the smartest and most beautiful birds on the world. aslong as you manage to see the beauty in it. It may be the symbol of death but that makes it just more mystical. I would love to have ona or two as pets i'd call them Hugin and Munin. as in Odin two scout ravens. some animals don't deserv to die.

@MizzArtiztic we dont need to hunt wolves. i HIGHLY doubt if we stop hunting wolves the white tailed deer population would disapear and make them hunt other animals, so its not a food and resources problem. besides, people and wolves lived together for hundreds of years before comlumbus came over to america.
also, people were hunting them because of their fur in the first place, making their population in the U.S. drop to near extinction. (you might not live in america tho so..bleh)

Killing wolves the way we do today leaves then no chance of surviving. Then only threats to our "resources" are other human beings. So when does the hunt begin?

Humans in America consume more than much in a day just in America. Wolves hardly threaten the meat supply for humans. True fact:more bears,wild dogs,wild boars,coyotes,cougars including domestic dogs take out food chain animals and this includes ranchers stock, yet you don't hear about that.
