The diesel driver should have spooled it up a little. There are few things that can beat a spooled up duramax off the line. BTW, $5000 in a duramax will have 600horse and still tow at 20 mpg. Do that with a titan and get more than 5 MPG, i dare you.

remember the chevy's at least a 3/4 ton so it's heavier and it's also lifted. that titan was fast nonetheless but it also looked like it got off the line first too...i call it driver error. i've seen the duramax outdrag corvettes and other faster cars. toyota doesn't have a diesel/HD truck so how is it better?
but with little mods the diesel will kill the titan, and vice versa for the titan.
its just much easier to add 200 or so hp to a diesel, just a chip and a turbo/nos upgrade and your off.. adding 200 hp to a titan would take lots of work. but if its stock, the titan is lighter and has more hp

actually ford would have the lowest. most you can get out of an f150 is 300 and the standard engine in the titan is 315. also doesn't say if the diesel is stock or not. the titans are quick and a good truck. not taking anything away from diesels dont get me wrong. you mod one of those and no truck will touch the insane power you can get out of a duramax(or any diesel for that matter)
Lowest HP in its class!! Guy you need to do your homework. They compare the 1/2 ton Titan to 3/4 trucks all over the web. 9500 lb towing out of a 1/2 ton is awesome. The tq is over 380lb/ft which is great for a 5.6 gas burner. Besides diesel cost too much and stinks. lol
I bought a Nissan true, Why?? 100k mile warranty bump to bump. GM wouldnt touch that at the time (2005). Now its just the drive train with the 100k warranty. With all the trouble I had with my wifes GM car, no way would I buy that crap. Funny thing is both of my inlaws work for GM and say the same thing. My Titan was made in Canton MS by Americans just Like the GM truck. If I remember right just 10% less American parts than a Silverado.
@skeetertitan Agreed, the GM warranty is a joke. My 07 Silverado went in the shop 8 times for transmission work and GM finally refused to repair or replace the transmission. Sold it and got a 07 Titan and couldn't be happier. The Titan is solid compared to the Silverado.

Yeah, funny thing about Fords tow rating, at first it was 9900#, then Toyota said we can do 10.5, Ford said well we do 10.8, and I guess they upped it again. It's too bad that they have made no changes to the powertrain to justify the towing increase. Just looked at GMC's site, and 1/2 ton Sierra tows UP TO 8900#s, still lower than a Titan. A 3/4 ton Duramax will ABSOLUTLY out tow. But for 1/2 tons, I'll keep my American Nissan, it's bigger,stronger, and put together well.

I'll agree with you on the fact that after a certain amount of fuel is shoved into a cylinder where it is to explode solely based on the compression creates not only power but also waste. And I do agree that big power inevitably creates big smoke; I have taken several thermodynamics classes that dive deep into diesel pros and cons- I love this stuff, that's why i'm an engineer.

lexusandbimmerz the duramax does run 15's but the titan runs nothing close to 14's stock. The duramax is also built in Ohio so I don't think that's in Mexico. Dodge is the only one built down there and even those are being moved up to the Fenton, MO plant. And..if you notice in this video...the diesel sits higher...and has bigger tires. Which = slower start. Plus no black smoke? = no decent mods. I've watched a video where a Duramax runs high 9's. Plus...after the Titan has 120,000 miles on it..and the engine is screwed...the diesel will still be running like new at over 200,000. actually ford would have the lowest. most you can get out of an f150 is 300 and the standard engine in the titan is 315. also doesn't say if the diesel is stock or not. the titans are quick and a good truck. not taking anything away from diesels dont get me wrong. you mod one of those and no truck will touch the insane power you can get out of a duramax(or any diesel for that matter)

Lowest HP in its class!! Guy you need to do your homework. They compare the 1/2 ton Titan to 3/4 trucks all over the web. 9500 lb towing out of a 1/2 ton is awesome. The tq is over 380lb/ft which is great for a 5.6 gas burner. Besides diesel cost too much and stinks. lol

I bought a Nissan true, Why?? 100k mile warranty bump to bump. GM wouldnt touch that at the time (2005). Now its just the drive train with the 100k warranty. With all the trouble I had with my wifes GM car, no way would I buy that crap. Funny thing is both of my inlaws work for GM and say the same thing. My Titan was made in Canton MS by Americans just Like the GM truck. If I remember right just 10% less American parts than a Silverado.

@skeetertitan Agreed, the GM warranty is a joke. My 07 Silverado went in the shop 8 times for transmission work and GM finally refused to repair or replace the transmission. Sold it and got a 07 Titan and couldn't be happier. The Titan is solid compared to the Silverado.

Yeah, funny thing about Fords tow rating, at first it was 9900#, then Toyota said we can do 10.5, Ford said well we do 10.8, and I guess they upped it again. It's too bad that they have made no changes to the powertrain to justify the towing increase. Just looked at GMC's site, and 1/2 ton Sierra tows UP TO 8900#s, still lower than a Titan. A 3/4 ton Duramax will ABSOLUTLY out tow. But for 1/2 tons, I'll keep my American Nissan, it's bigger,stronger, and put together well.

I'll agree with you on the fact that after a certain amount of fuel is shoved into a cylinder where it is to explode solely based on the compression creates not only power but also waste. And I do agree that big power inevitably creates big smoke; I have taken several thermodynamics classes that dive deep into diesel pros and cons- I love this stuff, that's why i'm an engineer.

lexusandbimmerz the duramax does run 15's but the titan runs nothing close to 14's stock. The duramax is also built in Ohio so I don't think that's in Mexico. Dodge is the only one built down there and even those are being moved up to the Fenton, MO plant. Oh and thos hicks who tow tractors are at least smart enough to use a real truck unlike some people who use 1500's to tow twice what they should be.

And..if you notice in this video...the diesel sits higher...and has bigger tires. Which = slower start. Plus no black smoke? = no decent mods. I've watched a video where a Duramax runs high 9's. Plus...after the Titan has 120,000 miles on it..and the engine is screwed...the diesel will still be running like new at over 200,000. And also...consider it pathetic that the stock diesel that weighs that much kept up with a MUCH lighter Titan.

The titan is an all around truck. made for offroad towing (not as hardcore as a duramax but not everyone is a stupid hick towing tractors and all the bullshit)and for recreational use. Also Stock, the titan is a high 14s low 15s truck. the duramax is a 16 second truck. say what you want but stock numbers are what counts the most because these days you can make anything go fast.
