Open Synaptic pakage manager (in the administration menu under system) then find and install "compizconfig-settings-manager" (synaptics help section is comprehensive if you don't know how to do this) then in the administration menu under system you'll be able to find compiz setting manager which you can use to enable all the effects.
or see wiki(dot)compiz(dot)org if you still can't get it working, or ask on ubuntuforums(dot)org there folks are helpful,
omg thats old as fuck your computer stinks iam running intel centrino 3 duo processors (7.5 GHz) 10MB L4 cache RAM 8GB Graphics Card NVIDIA SL GEFORCE 14,000M 2000MB blue-ray burner 18,4" screen 6 bilt in speakers plus bass sub. remember this is in a labtop so your computer sucks nuts!
i have an old dell desktop with 2GHz, 255MB RAM, 115G HD, n i 4get the graphix card. u think thisll run any good on my system? im gunna try n install ubuntu on it 2moro =D
well done meowblah ubuntu all the way, weather beryl (or now compiz fusion as its known) will run on your computer comes down to the graphics card, cause linux isnt the main stream cheap and smaller graphics card manufactures dont make drivers, as a genral rule, nvidia have reasonable Linux support, ati have little linux support, Intel have released open source drivers so some intel graphics cards will work out of the box,
i have a powermac g5 with a 1.8ghz g5, 1.5gigs of ram, and a geforce fx5200 ultra with 64mb of vram.not the best but i can stil play halo with all the options on high and the resolution at 1280x800(the highest it would allow me)at more than 30 frames per second.
i agree, was just me messing about next time i'll like actually work out some stuff i wanna show and think and stuff :) was at half resolution actually :P my computers hardly the quickest, hoped ppl would read my pc's spec, but i'll make it clearer, this aint a high end system, i have an Athlon 1800xp, 767M of ram and a Geforce FX 5600 GPU, Beryl is lighting quick folk:)
my brother just built a computer with 4gb ram, dual core athlon x2 2.8ghz, ati radeon 1250, wow(world of warcraft) runs like shit, god i hate vista. he is geting a 3850 but still.
Looks slow! Try recording with a video camera or people might think Beryl is slow. Too many slow xvidcap videos here :( Or try recording on a lower resolution.. 800x600 or 640x480... and mess with the codec settings of xvidcap..
