the tornadoe in Taylorsville, near Cartersville, was far far far far worse than that little piss-ant tornady in downtown Atlanta. True ef-4 devastation.
it's not about hot big it was, how much it destroyed or how many people it did or did not kill. the fact of the matter is that it happened, and people's lives were affected.
this is a little melodramtic for my taste. nobody died. the ghosts of a mill town are maddened at the gentrification and newfound trendiness of where they sewed cotton for slave-labor wages. they already tried to burn this thing down. i live there, and i'm gettin' out. the largest earthquake in georgias history will have its epicenter at 170 Boulevard. quit with the end-of-days rufus anthem. oh...and a herbie curbie is a trash can.
A herbie-curbie is what the city of Atlanta calls the green trash bins everyone is issued. It is funny sounding. And the guy's right - friday was trash day in C-Town, and being empty, they did fly up and down the street like large green missiles during the storm.
I live in Georgia near Atlanta everyone around us had to get under cover but luckily nothing ever hit around us. We were lucky i feel so bad for those people. :(
I was supposed to fly out to Atlanta and they cancelled the flight due to bad weather. About 15 minutes after they cancelled the flight they told us there was a tornado that went through Atlanta. Being from the west I was expecting the ENTIRE CITY to be gone.
I am sorry for your sister lost Sthernguy1 and hope she all right Thats what count she did;nt get hurt or anyone eles you can replace things but not a life
I looked at buying the house right at the beginning several years ago when I lived in Atlanta...It's a great neighborhood and I'm glad everyone is OK.
damn, i was on my way to the club, you know ATLiens will stop at nothing to club. Well, We got caught DOWNTOWN in the storm and some ppl were like 'are we going home?' I was like damn y'all, busted a u-e in the middle of the road, hopped on I-20 and took my happy ass home. it was scary. shit was falling everywhere.
People who say "Praise God" are so pathetic. God had nothing to do with it. Idiots.
What makes you think that God cares for you more than your neighbor, and they have kids? Get control of your life and quit using God as a reason for your stupidity. You control that too!
I watched this for the first time yesterday. I said it was good but not good enough to be featured. After seeing it again I may have underestimated the powerfulness of this.
DO ya think that maybe weather feeds off peoples moods? Does survival depend on faith in something better? Cabbage Town is a great name, very Mark Twain.
I live a few blocks from Cabbage Towns and have many friends who live there (home was in the video), so the damage is legit. That being said... that video is SO cabbage town. Hicks, lesbians, indie hipsters, oddballs, which is why I love CTown.
I am sorry, but "we could be in Darfur" ??? That is just over the top.
Yeah, that guy was really bizarre. Did you see the "Hillary" button he was wearing? The weirdos vote for Hillary, the assholes vote for Barack, and the dumbasses vote for McCain.
I think he's staying positive. You know 'things could be worse'. An extreme example, yes, but maybe proof that things aren't half as bad they could be.
Arrogant?? He wasn't being arrogant. He was saying in essence that, in spite of the tornado, he was still better off than the poor folks in Dafur and he was dissapointed that he lost a car he bought a week prior.
tornadoes are the least predictable natural disaster. You can guess which cells may form one, but you can't get any more specific than a couple of miles at best, and then there's no telling if it will touchdown, how wide it will be, or where it will go once it forms.
This made the front page??!! No offense it's a good vid but these news vids usually don't make the front page. The ones that usually get featured are unique vids like that guy using his Nintendo DS to play music.
D@mn, a bunch of ignorant people here commenting calling this section of Atlantans hicks & rednecks. You "folks" need some serious help if thats all you see when you watch this vid'.
God must hate kansas New Orleans and downtown texas highrise buildings too. Heck, maybe God hates Club Lennies, ever try steering a tornado down a city street? Bound to be some collateral damage.
Or maybe its the herbie curbies.
Wait til Fema gets involved. these people should be getting a couple thousand trailers they wont be able to inhabit in about 3 years.
Fema should be able to pull in a sweet 30-40 million from the gubment on this one.
I live in Atlanta and I know that it's big news here, but I had no idea that the news would spread this far. I'm not too far from Cabbagetown, but luckily, I wasn't hit.
wow all you people leaving comments are really rude what if the people in that area couldnt afford to fix up this city? you all act lik money grows on trees here and f.y.i. saying that only hicks live in Georgia is lik saying that Rodeos are only in Texas. These ppl had more damage than was shown in the video.
In a lot of cities it does. Its called welfare. So if a tornado destroyed this city. The government will just come in and use my tax money to fix up the houses of the lazy people.
The amount of drama indicated in this video is kind of uncalled for, everyone is okay and buildings can be built again...this makes it seem like the entire city was washed away or something...
Heh, that's funny. I think the same thing about people who live in hurricane prone areas. I live in tornado alley, and I've never seen a tornado in my life (kinda want to, but I'm sure it would scare the pants off me :)). Granted, when a tornado does hit something, it usually does a lot of damage in that small area, but a hurricane does way more damage overall.
You have a point I often wonder what would happen if we assessed thngs this way...I mean if the people of third world nations learned how good somewhere else is to live why wouldnt they move their..North Snow to Southern Sunshine etc. Nic comment a bit harsh with the language.
That's crazy! I saw a tornado once when I was little and then every time after that for the next few years if I saw a tornado warning I hid in the tub because I was so scared!
blueice, you are an idiot. It's only Tornado Alley that's the worst tornado area in the world. I live in the southwest, we have very calm weather, no tornados.
praise god, that women's perspective is messed up, seriously by her way of thinking didn't god send the tornado in the first place, I was spared because I prayed lol. what a crock at least the dude that hung onto the door frame has some sense of reality.
I was out that night. I'm half an hour from Atlanta. We had just gotten off the freeway exit and not 20 seconds later it went from clear to strong rain, hail nearly as big as golfballs, couldn't see the road. For a good hour before I saw the largest lightning storm i'd ever seen in the sky. it was odd with how warm it was outside that it was hailing and i made the immediate assumption we had tornado weather and took cover.
I guess that woman was just christian enough to be spared any damage but her neighbors must be heathens..she never ever said..God help the stricken.. props to the man who hung on to a doorframe to be spared from death and STILL knows others suffering.
Who is the voice moaning in the background? Sounds a lot like Sting.
For the juvenile snot below, the quilts protect you so flying glass (bath room mirror - windows) doesn't shred your skin... or from the looks of these old homes and magnificent trees - from sharp bits of ceiling plaster.
Now, back to Faux News or King of the Hill for you.
dude. i don't get it. is this being a featured video on st. patrick's day supposed to be funny ala the cabbage reference? plus i like how the guy got to plug his band and how cool they were by being the headlining band at "lenny's" My gigs at CBGB seem so insignificant now... I'm also unclear on why the mid-east styled music is appropriate.
Darfur is in the middle of a genocide. The guy basically means that things could be very worse for him, so he's actually lucky to be where he is in this situation.
Oh good Lord... if I remember right, it's a country in Africa, and it's currently suffering from a genocide.
But since our ass of a president is too busy fighting a war that, really, probably has no real purpose, there's not much that's being done, to my knowledge, for the people living in Darfur. Even though we could probably really help them. Things may have changed, but last I heard, people were just letting it happen.
Yeah, how dare he fight a war that puts a stop to a government that employed official rapists, beat women for learning how to read, executes mentally retarded people for being rape victims, filled mass graves with people of certain ethnicities, doesn't allow women to congregate in public, doesn't allow certain people to go to school, picked random people off the street to practice torture techniques........
Well our ass of a president doesn't need to fight the war or give a fucking about them. Its not own job to police the world. If they want to kill each other by all means, let them.
way over dramatic. No one died, and no one even was seriously injured. Where are the documentaries about tornadoes that actually cause despair to more than just insurance executives. No if the dome had collapsed
I'm sick of all these Tornado videos... I live in Atlanta (right next to Cabbage Town) and that is all that the local news has been covering for the last few days.
The subject matter is not funny but for some reason i was laughing my ass of during this. I think it was the music, or some fot eh comments. like the first guy they interviewed was soo soned.
I feel that it was nothing short of miraculous that nobody was killed, or even seriously injured, by this tornado--right in the middle of downtown with tens of thousands of people in the city at the time. The damage will be repaired in time. Lives can't be replaced.
LOL at the lady saying God was looking out for them and then saying a tree went through her next door neighbor's house. I guess God had a grudge with the neighbor?

I feel that it was nothing short of miraculous that nobody was killed, or even seriously injured, by this tornado--right in the middle of downtown with tens of thousands of people in the city at the time. The damage will be repaired in time. Lives can't be replaced.

It can stop glass from ripping skin and soften the landing of objects to the body. In other words save a life.

LOL at the lady saying God was looking out for them and then saying a tree went through her next door neighbor's house. I guess God had a grudge with the neighbor?
