Anywho, I think he uses the same techniques that my fave magician/mentalist Derren Brown uses. And after watching DB so many times, it becomes easy to pick out the liar. It's about eye movement & body language - among other things. I got it right :o)

The 2 liars were just REALLY BAD liars.

actually with practice you can tell when people are lying... you notice it in their eyes and in their face, it takes a TON Of practice though, all high ranking police officers can do it.. although its not 100% guaranteed to work.

Exactly, because not everyone's mind is wired the same way. Anyone on the autistic spectrum for example are very difficut to tell if they are lying through conventional means because our brains are wired slightly different.

I'm going with the theory that those three guys were in on the trick. If Penn & Teller really needed three people for the trick, they would've walked up to three people, not one guy and assumed he had two (and since nobody else got up to look, ONLY two) friends nearby.

Also, when someone stands an inch away from your face in a non-threatening manner while making an efforted "pensive" face (like Teller was doing), you're gonna laugh. They all tried to keep a straight face, kinda like actors.
