They have torn just about all of these down now and are building new.. Its a shame these were not that old nor in that bad of shape, what a waste of tax payer dollars..
@youngkeita - No. I don't know of any base housing that has a washer/dryer included. I think the junior enlisted dorms/ bachelor quarters have laundry facilities, but everyone provides their own washer/ dryer and amenities for the house.

Thanks for posting! I've been looking all over and haven't had much success finding floor plans, videos or pictures for the housing on Shaw.....we (along with all of the Third Army in GA) are moving up there by next summer, and I feel like I haven't heard a thing about it! Does the backyard have a fence? Or do you know if any of the onpost housing does?? That is very important to us (and our two dogs) and will make/break weather live on or off post.
@missamyellen - most of base housing has been demolished over the past year. It'll be at least a couple of years before there is new base housing. The old base housing was built during WWII and had major asbestos issues. There's a few streets of housing, but I'd look off base.
Thanks for posting this- it was really helpful! We are moving to Shaw in the winter, and this was the first "real" info I could find about base housing.
This brings back so many memories. I lived on Shaw from 2002-2006 on Palmetto Drive, which is now part of the golf course. I miss Shaw....hated it while I was there but it became home. Thanks for posting!
@sageinmn i agree..it sucked being there. but i miss it now that im not there. i also lived on palmetto drive...lol...SHAW...Stay Here For A While...lol gott love it
haha, just checking! Never know with all the bases around. What rank are you/spouse? When I leave I'll probably be an E-2 from college credits so not sure about what sort of house I'd be able to get if married.
Thank you so much for posting this! My husband and I are PCSing to Shaw in December and we're going to live on base. I've been looking for pictures of base housing but haven't found any until today. Once again, thanks!

@youngkeita I lived on an army base and they had them in there. But you had to be an e-6 or higher. That was in chicago
