I hit this at least every training session, but with the 'arm in'. It's not a choke but I take my time to pick which arm lock to pull off, usually just a straight armlock is sufficient. If you're still getting caught in this then you must be a white belt though. Easy escape: when he triangles your face, go to your knees and use both hands to push his legs off.
Yea that really isn't a triangle since the arm isn't in.. There is no choke here but it does open up attacks on the arm. And it's not pleasant to be in.
@darksharingan723 Generally you won't be overwrapping your opponents arm (right in this video). With your arm free but safe, you can push the leg away from stepping over your head however this is the perfect time to be caught in a kimura or arm triangle.
this is actually extremely clever. i had never thought this many options were available from side control. it makes so much sense to isolate the arm, and once you have it, the options start opening up.
How do you create enough squeeze with the arm out to get the tap on the choke? What's to prevent the guy on the bottom from simply rolling to turtle? You can see all the space on the overhead angle. What am I missing?
that triangle isnt a triangle because you didnt pass his arm through your leg, I have been shown the triangle from modified kesa gatame and the arm is pushed through. That looks like a neck crushing sort of thing.
simple position, simple technique, just something most people never think about. these are the techniques that i really like - the ones that you say - why didn't i think of that?
@uckushtar exactly what i was just thinking to myself, i find myself in that position so often and never had it occured to me to do that. Well know I know!
"Is that a neck crank or a choke?"
"Yes."
