we all know the story...Thom waked up and remebered his dream...Jonny remebered what to "make of it"...others followed...and we...worship it/him/them/us...
listening to this song it's like to get drug....you can reach places in your brain that yourself don't know they exists.....and everything happen without the damages of real drug! What can you wish more!
hearing it now makes me feel the exact same as wenn i heard it the first time, id like to think ive changed since then, the song tho must therefore hold a truth. this song is like a fact. something that cannot be changed or missunderstod, its the real deal.
Delusional thinking everlasting urge any changes in circumstances Changes in the real world view various changes Hope and Despair With hope and anxiety
It's funny cause I don't know exacly where this song and the "how to disappear completely" takes me, but I kinda like the feeling I get coming back from that unnamed place...
I think the message is: don't be afraid of letting go of life at the moment of dying.
Jumping from the safety of the platform into the river represents dying. In many cultures a river must be crossed in order to reach the afterlife (Styx-theme).
-blackeyed angels swam with me....(compagnons on the way to the afterlife)
-all the things I used to see...(looking back at life)
-There was nothing to fear and nothing to doubt (says it all)
IMO this video is about an old man who has lost his loved one and is reaching the end of his life, and he decides to spend his last days in a place that was once occupied by him and his beloved. The air pipe represents his life line and in the end, when he finally is at peace while resting on the sofa, his life line is cut lose and he finally joins his loved one (the 2 orbs).
This song take me distant shores and brings so much comfort to my tormented soul...Thank You Radiohead for this amazing healing music, i couldn,t have lived without it!!
Sem duvida essa musica está entre as top 3 do radiohead. Escutar essa musica ao vivo deve ser hipnotizante, gostaria tanto que eles voltassem ao Brasil, ainda mais em ano de Rock in Rio. Tomara que isso aconteça.
I’m a real veteran. I actually got given a Radiohead bootleg tape, by a school friend, a month before Pablo Hunny came out! I was about 13 at the time.
Funnily, it had an early version of Motion Picture Soundtrack on it. Which didn’t make it on to an album until 9 years later.
I also had OK Computer, on tape, at least 4 weeks before it was released. Again, a friend of mine got it for me. It was sneaked out by a sound engineer, working in the Scottish studio where it was recorded
Funny story. When I heard the leaked OK Computer tape, I thought it was AWFUL, and were convinced they had gone mad! It was just a shock. So different to what I was expecting.
What I mean is, everyone else got it by slow release. As in, radio playing it, song by song. Like easing in to it.
I just heard it as it’s whole, and thought it was crap
Haha, amazing. I'm sure Kid A would have been quite the shock :P Although i think I can understand how people would have felt, because of the King Of Limbs release. Not what I was expecting, but pretty damn good!
To say the truth this song I have for my mail, ringtone as well as for alarm, not to say that i'm listening to it 10 times every single day. Love Radiohead!
We are more than the atoms that make up our bodies - I hear the truth in this song. I hear divinity, I hear the beauty hinting at the truth of what God is, of what we really are.
i remeber listening to this a few years ago in late winter, sitting on my local beach on my own during a storm. one of the most moving experience of my life, simply haunting and powerfull.
All the so-called music lovers, who just want "everyone to stop arguing and just enjoy the music," must stop inculcating their assumption that "all music is equal" to the unwitting majority. It simply is not. Music criticism begins with this realization. Eventually, we must be able to say that Coldplay is better than Radiohead or Radiohead better than Coldplay. When we just throw up our hands before the idol of our "enjoyment", we all lose.
For me the video is like travelling in someone's mind, looking into the past looking for comfort and on the way are the memories..someone seeking comfort in thier past. .At the end the lights signify thoughts processing and then finally coming to a decision or conclustion to something.. That said the Radiohead are fantastic.
the first song that really hooked me on radiohead. the first time i saw the video was the first time i had heard the song. instant classic. one of the most poetic songs ever written. its absolutely beautiful.
I think the arrangement of the 5 lights at the end is representing the 5 band members and how they are normally seen on stage (left ed, middle is colin, phil, thom, and right is jonny).
quite possibly my favourite radiohead song and video...
ps i'm a flamenco/blues singer songwriter from Manchester UK (theres a bit of a Thom Yorke/Radiohead influence in there somewhere).. feel free to check out my music on my channel...
Peculiar time signature no doubt. It seems like it would be tough to count out the fives, do the pause for the time signature shift, keep track where in the melody you are and sing at the same time.
lol I love how even though you youngings have the right idea, but we were all 15 and 16 when this was coming out, and it doesn't take effort to appreciate these things.. many of these ideas are ripped right from Mahler and other more out there classical composers... if you have balls go listen to some of those symphonies.
@Thepocalypse Don't be a hater. Good comments and acknowledging them shows solidarity and brings folks with mutual musical interest closer together. Good music is the catalyst, sure enough. But people are the commodity that makes it all worthwhile. Radiohead understands that especially Thom.
