I knowed a straight up man named of Dale Cormier from the Mamou Area about 35 years ago Him and Ned Fountaino was puttin work together for us texas knuckleheads........Dale was as good of a MAN that ever split a a Woman's womb
My granddaughters husband returned from serving with the US Rangers in Afghanistan. Three months later he killed himself with an overdose. He knew what he was doing. Life was just too hard for this young man. He left a pretty young widow and three beautiful young babies.
@superyouper I am so sorry to hear this. I am a Reverend of the universal life church. I will now ask God to take this young man in to his heart, and keep him safe for ever and ever, Amen. If there's anything else I can do, just let me know.
This is what war does - takes young men and women, and innocent civilians, and chews them up and spits them out. The rich in power just use the military as a tool for lining their pockets.
@parttimeuser The military is a NECESSITY. Its not a tool for lining pockets, its a tool that ensures your freedom. Let me guess: Aging hippie liberal douche? Does that pretty much sum you up as a person?
@ErnestoScotto The military lines the pockets of many government agencies. One being the CIA. No, I'm not a douche. A hippie, yes. Liberal, no. Sorry you are wrong on most accounts. I just sing the song, written by JOHN PRINE. Make your comments to him. Fuck off.
@josephcormier Got no beef with John, the man is a legend. Most vets handle life fine after war, some break down, like Sam Stone. The song is fantastic and true to life, no problems there. My problem is with people who have such a negative view on the military. It's not a bunch of fat cat baby killers, invading countries for the hell of it. It's ordinary people risking it all to protect the freedoms of a nation. If you don't support your country, join the Westboro Baptist Church. Hooyah fucker.
@ErnestoScotto YOU AINT GOTTA CLUE WHO SERVED AND WHO AINT SERVED ....YOU JUST AINT HAD ENOUGH TIME FOR YOUR KILLINGS OF FOREIGN NATIONALS TO SET IN YET ! VIETNAM ERA VETS MAKE UP THE MAJORITY OF THE HOMELESS IN AMERICA ...THE MEN IN THE DESERT WARS DIED FOR WHAT SPECIFICALLY ? WE AINT gotta PROBLEM WITH THE MILITARY ---ITS THE WAY WE / YOU HAVE BEEN USED FOR WALL STREET INVESTMENTS....THE 4500 BRAVE AMERICANS DIED FOR WHAT ? Keep your dick hard for war ---they got IRAN up next
I'm a big Prine fan and this is probably the best cover of one of his tunes that I've ever heard. Thank You for this tribute to all killed by this war, here and there.
I am a Viet Nam vet - and a long-time JP fan. Great rendition, and great job on the video. I've got several JP covers out there myself. Feel free to check 'em out :-)
This really touched me. Thanks. I didn't have problems this bad, but I know a few who did. Can't help thinkin' of them, and wishin' there was something more I could've been for them. I'd do it all again, though. The best place to spread what precious little light you have is in the darkest places, you know. I did that better there, it seems, than I can do it back here. Some things are worth the pain; no one else needs to understand that.
You are welcome! I too am a fan of John's. I like his songs and play a lot at pre 1840 historical events and people just love his songs. I play the Hobo Song alot and Hello in There,Montgumrey, and Mullinburg County. Am working on Sam Stone as a lot of us are Vietnam vets, but I could not make it sound right till I heard your version which that style fits me better.
Great Job! I've loved this tune since the moment I heard it..30 years ago! You rendition is the best I've seen on youtube! Your pix remind me of pix I have in a box, of boys gone to soon, from back in that dark time.
