ok yes, sin should not have done what she did. but to say "OMG ALBANY IS SOOOO BAD" is a ridiculous statement. i have seen plenty of bouts where people intentionally do illegal things. in fact show me a league without a little bullshit in its history. hell, everyone saw the punch at nationals. shit happens. it IS derby. it is ANY contact sport. she penalized. get over it.

Whoops, apparently I am getting OSDA's "old school" designation mixed up with renegade roller derby and they are separate things. My feelings still stand, just substitute in "renegade" for "OSDA." Sorry, OSDA!

"It's roller derby" is an excuse I've heard way too many times from Albany skaters after they've illegally hit an opponent. In modern roller derby it is possible to play a fun to watch, physical game while following the RULES and hitting LEGALLY.
To tackle an opposing jammer from behind out of frustration and desperation in the last jam of a bout because you're losing by 100 points is horrible sportsmanship and you should be ashamed of yourself. You're lucky Barbie wasn't more seriously hurt.

The worst part of the whole thing was when Barbie was lying on the ground, injured (no one knew how badly at that point) and Sin was skating over to her teammates, grinning & high fiving. Bad form on top of poor sportsmanship. This isn't the 1970's and we're not bashing each other in the faces with chairs, pulling hair, etc - if this is the kind of game you want to run, you should be playing OSDA, not WFTDA.
