How to flash SyndicateRom Frozen 1.2 on the Samsung Epic 4G

@rcraft2004 You have some corrupted data. Try clearing data in settings>applications>manage applications>all on Google Services Framework. This is usually caused by an improper shutdown such as battery pull or running the battery all the way down.

I've been running this for sometime now, love it. Here lately I've been getting error messages for android.process.acore and google services framework stops working and I have to force close... now I can receive calls but cant make them with out the phone having to force close and cant send or recieve any text messages.... any ideas on what's going on? As a follow up, I tried to recover my rooted ei22 backup and it lead me to the phone being locked up at the Samsung boot screen. I then flashed an rfson.zip and re-recovered my backup and it loaded fine.

I am unclear on the file system aspect. I am currently on rooted on EI22 but would like to try this rom. I have made a nandroid backup of my original rooted eco5 setup as well as my current ei22 setup using Clockwork mod 3.1.0.1. Should I decide I don't like srf 1.2, can I simply nandroid restore one of my backups or do I need to switch the file system using the ext4tosrf tool, then restore the backup. If not, what is the easiest way to get back to where i am now as if I never flashed srf1.2

@233Legasus You can just flash this rom.. it will auto convert to ext4 for you :)

You should be able to just restore your backup as well without having to flsah the ext4torfs zip

Hi qbking. I have been having trouble with this rom due to the media sounds coming from the ear speaker vs the back speaker. I have to turn the phone off then on to reset the speaker. I tried changing differnent kernal but still the same problem. Please advise

I believe it's JUST to address this problem, nothing else, so you may want to go ahead and flash to Twilght Zone first. And since I can't post links, you'll have to go to the Syndicate Rom thread on XDA, under Epic development, page 259, post 2585.

@93jeremy Make a backup... go into clockwork and go to backup and restore and hit backup... let it run through the backup process.... Then just flash the 1.2 rom without wiping anything... if it doesn't work, just restore that backup

Just installed this + genocide 2.0. Problem is my battery is draining like a bandit (although I have had terrible battery life for a while now with ec05). Any suggestions for bettering my battery life. As it is now, it lasts about 5-6 hours depending on usage

hey QBKING, I have an issue I followed your instructions upgraded my CWM to purple and wipe data/cache/dalvik x5 and installed syndicate 1.2 from 1.1.

The phone auto-booted and it totally updated ed to 1.2 with new wallpaper notification bar etc... except its lagging compared to 1.1. The issue is when I went to about phone it still says "twilight zone 1.1" not "SyndicateRom Frozen"

What did i do wrong? I also did not load the genocide since i was coming from 1.1... any ideas?

@qbking77 I loaded in a wireless tethering (for Rooted) from the apps store and hopefully sprint won't be able to see my activities...I cranked the clock speed down to 800 mhz max to save juice but I only get about 10 hours of battery with a limited amount of activities...Any thoughts on getting more battery life?

I really like the 1.2 root...its super stable and incredibly leaned out on system RAM...I recall the previous default sucking down around 340 out of 512MB....SyndicateFrozen Rom 1.2 uses about 125MB's

I never got the one click 3.1 to work because it could not see the phone so I used the optional TAR file to load in through ODIN...Then from there it was pretty straight forward.

Is it strange that I can get ODIN to work fine to reset to default but when I "run" CWM 3.0.2.5 one click root...It will not see the phone...All the drivers in Device Manager look fine and the phone mounts to the phone without any fuss with USB Debugging running fine...Ive tried 5 different USB Micro cables on all the USB ports...Odin can see the phone but CWM 3.0.2.5 one click root can not see the phone.

IT IS FIXED...Pulled a Micro USB cable from my 8" Vizio tablet...Loaded to the TAR and PIT files...Back to stock but better than totally worthless

Is it possible to totally brick a Epic 4G and whats the one thing that will without a doubt cause or prevent it?...Obviously a bad cable is not the end of the world but caused 3 hours of panic wondering whats next.

@lsi624 Glad you got it fixed. Any error that you had is MOST likely because of the cable. I find that blackberry cables work the absolute best. It's extremely hard to fully brick the Epic 4G. as long as you can get into download mode your phone isnt bricked.

I honestly think Sprint and Samsung have rigged this phone not to allow computer connections via USB for rooting...Converting to EXT4 screwed me.
