Love this -- have you ever considered putting up other ship sounds? Or a background noise loop of engineering or the bridge, with all the little "boops" and "beeps" coming from the LCARS screens?
Very nice. I think it would be fairly easy to create a nearly identical sound by generating some pink noise and filtering it with a parametric equalizer. Should be doable in any digital audio workstation. Still, having the sample from the show gives it a soothing authenticity.
I woke up with a massive headache, caused by a cold. But listening to this had the opposite effect. Where other sounds aggravate me, this seems to be the right frequency to dissipate it. D:
my fav part was when the engine went bruuuuuuuuuuuuuummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
@crysknife007 cheers dude. Yeah, defo that kinda thing, but better. is there enough warp flight footage from the shows to make up a vid or is there anyone out there who can program one that well?
@crysknife007 Somehow...by posting this, you have become the savior of my ability to concentrate on my homework/studying. I don't know how, but it helps. Tremendously. Thank you!
I'd love to see a video which replicates the sounds of being in Engineering. The sound could occasionally change frequency as if the Enterprise were going at Warp. If you wanted to really get crazy you could include Picard's voice calling for changes in course and speed. :P
Nice to see this. I had the same idea in the 90'S . An effective fantasy booster :-) . Its true you had to ignore the fact , viewing a spaceship from outside can't make a sound, succesfully. But thats it with ALL science fiction. So don't watch it anymore ? PFFFFFF . In the actual Battlestar Galaktica series they muted most sounds in space. Anyways, funny idea
( by me, hehe ) . Checkout my Soundmod and mixtapes. Tinnio
You pretty much have to play this on speakers, headphones makes it too front-and-centre.. it needs to be background noise.. with the volume about midway, but not too loud to get the full effect, close your eyes and imagine whatever room your in is on the Enterprise D, and you're there...
@jedigeek93 very well.. *waves hand* "your lame "sound does not travel in space" physics joke was not as successful as you hoped it would be, move along" ;-)
Besides, I agree with George Takei, we need to focus on mocking Twilight.
I have the soundtrack to Quake 1, listen to that, in a dark room, with the volume rather high, then listen to the neighbours complain about "we didn't get any sleep last night, was some terrible noise coming from somewhere..".
10 more minutes. i really should get some sleep but the thought of leaving with only 10 minutes to go would make me feel like a quitter. to tumblr i go till it finishes :D
@anoopks I can hear it too I think. A small hiccup where it restarts. I should be able to drag this into Wavepad and change it just enough to delete that hiccup or smooth it out.
@anoopks Haha! What do you mean? I didn't make this video. Hint *crysknife007* hint. No but ya that little catch in there isn't smooth. Besides comments aren't meant to be all lovey unicorn rainbow poop sprinkles.
Please.....PLEASE for the love of God, do a Battlestar Galactica one from the recent series - i've been dying for someone to do something like this - YOU ROCK!
This is perfect to go to sleep to. Long enough to be sure it lasts till I fall asleep, but unlike the 24 hour version it will stop before morning and not interfere with my alarm trying to wake me. Plus, it's the freakin Enterprise, so, awesome!
I saw one of their sound designers at a Creation Con years ago. He said the ship engine rumble is just a recording of a forced air vent (while the furnace is in operation) slowed down a few times. I used this same technique to do the engine room noise for my SF radio show back in '94.
Genius idea! As soon as the video started, I was taken back to when I first watched TNG and I instantly grinned :) Even though I know I'm not on a starship, I feel like I'm on a starship! Thanks crysknife007!
This is grand, although I'm not gonna sit with it for more than 2 minutes I love this sound and it's so good to hear a clean and lengthy version, thanks for taking the time to make and upload it. Also thanks for the download.

Thanks, great idea. Is this 'HD' version any better than your 24 hour loop in terms of sound quality, or does the HD just refer to the image?
Also is this available to download anywhere?
