@omarrelli How is this lame? If you think it's lame, then do better. Make a Diamond Mesh in a 3D animation program such as blender, texture it, animate it, and post a video of it.
gif files look beautiful when there small, but you get the idea if it just turned 1/8th or so an if that was looped perfectly so the frame it starts looks the same as the frame it ends on it would be smooth. maybe not a gif but could loop it together in flv or something.

you could have just rendered like a quarter of a second probably an then made a extend the vid perfect for making a small gif file from

exept that the refracted lights look different at all times. . .it would be choppy even if it was a four second gif
