In a Hawaii Reporter story published Dec 2011, the total cost (based on what is known) for a 17-day round trip vacation to Hawaii for the President and his family and staff and security is an estimated $4,113,038.

That includes $3,629,622 for separate travel for the president and his family, $151,200 for housing for security, $72,216 for staff to stay in one of Hawaii’s most luxurious resorts, the Moana Surfrider in Waikiki, and local police protection and ambulance detail for $260,000.

You should watch more than just the news that fuels your fire. Obama is not yet President. He has said a nbr of times that there can only be one president at a time. That man worked for 2+ years with nary a break. There is no more wrong with him taking the holidays off than you.

I'm glad that Obama has time for a Hawaiian vacation after the rigors of his recent European vacation! You see the "trickle down" theory in action. Think of all the economic good that happens when rich elitists go on their extended summer vacations.
