I have learned that people like to judge others by their own standards. An open marriage, or any open relationship for that matter, may not work for you...but who's to say it doesn't work for others? How relationships are orchestrated, should be determined by the individual and not by a set societal structure.

The reason society "regressed" is that all the psycho-babble this movie delt with was really nothing but bull shit. Screwing around does not make marriage stronger.
This is great film. Sadly, we've regressed in human relationships since this film. It seems there are fewer "open marriages" now than ever. Why should marriage mean sexual slavery? That's completely unatural. Infidelity means being untruthful, not having sex with someone you're not married to.
Yes, Edna was part of the generation that forged the first true sexual/social revolution in this country. The 1960's was really the second "coming" as it were. As per marriage I don't think "screwing around" wrecks marriage - but fear does. Love is limitless and unconditional - within "marriage" or not.
