Are you freakin' serious? You don't know what Hair is about? How old are you. like 10? You keep commenting on every video of Hair, bashing all of the performers, except for Patina and you don't even know what's it about?! I don't know how you can call yourself a Patina fan...
Wow, this is the first time I've heard anyone come close to matching Melba Moore's original on those crazyy high opening lines. Patina Renea Miller is awesome here.
This is not the happy little song ala 5th Dimision as Scubawrestler brings up. This song is about death. It's about beautiful Claude's senseless death in Vietnam. About the tribe coping with their lose. When you strip the song of the Lyric's from Romeo and Juliet and Hamlet, you lose the context of what it is all about. It does not evoke the mourning, the alienation and the rejoicing in who Claude was.
bring back the 60's Right on! That is when the youth of america understood the problems and actually brought them out into the open. There is no transparency now. The Government is corrupt more now then ever. Obama notwithstanding. Yeah he's our only hope but what does that tell you? He needs our help. I say let the ten biggest banks fail take the money back, give it those who make between 30,000 and 85,000 a year ....nobody else gets nothing!!!!! Especially not financial corp.s and
Patina sang great last night-SO good. And the red curly haired singer who middles the black boys trio is really touching to watch during Let the Sunshine because she looks like she really feels the song. I mean, REALLY looks like she is going to cry while chanting to let sun shine down on the sadness the end evokes. I really like red curly haired girl's facial pathos. I wanna go again- a gem this rendition is. And btw the base guitarist rocks.
I saw it on the wednesday night preview and missed this song!! We saw the whole show except the last like 30 minutes because it got rained out!!!!! I want to see it again. If anyone knows where I can find a video of the actual song in the show let me know. And are they making a cast recording or something? They really should.
I just saw this show last night and it was amazing!! The cast was great, esp. Jonathan Groff...I am already trying to plan for a few more return visits before it ends.
I just came back from the Thursday nite preview...it was amazing! I hope this goes to Broadway and they release a new cast soundtrack! Don't miss this...it's a Delacourt Theater classic!
very nice!

the song is missing half the lyrics. Nice voices, but no Shakespeare. You lose the whole death aspect. It comes up hallow.
The rest is silence.

Berger:
"Claud? Claud? Where are you Claud?"
Claud's ghost:
"I'm here. Like it or not, they got me..."
Tribe:
Eyes look your last. Arms take your last embrace, and lips, oh you, the doors of breath; sealed with a rightious kiss. Sealed with a rightious kiss.
The rest is silence.
The rest is silence.

that red-head would be the fantastically talented Allison Case. she's brilliant and (unofficially) moving with the production to Broadway.
and yes. Patina Miller is killller.

oooops just kidding. she didn't sing Black Boys.

And the great Bernard "Pretty" Purdie (played on just about every Aretha Franklin track)on drums at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park 2008.
A great, great production!!!

I am not a musical fan, not by far. I don't go to Broadway shows, just because I don't have anything in common with the crowd.
However, I have seen this show in Central Park last night. Incredible!
At the end, when everybody jumped on the stage and danced, was fantastics. The band solo guitar is better than Jimi Hendrix!
Will try to go again this summer ;)

I saw it in 3969 and it still resonates...
The movie version sucks big time, what a shame that this isn't brought to Broadway for a full fledged revival!!!!
