seriously though, if all of 6 seasons of LOST happened to you, and you were on that plane at the end, leaving the island, how could you live your life? Knowing in so much more, and in new beliefs? Life would just seem, plain, compared to your time on the island. I dunno, maybe the knowledge and experience gained would lead you to live an epic life, but deep down, nothing would compare. haha thats just my opinion though :P

Awesome how Locke and Walt playing Backgammon was a foreshadowing metaphor for the entire show. Locke pretty much becomes the Man In Black and Walt becomes the keeper of the island as Jacob was, in The New Man In Charge, these writers are genius.

@spaghettisaucey Dude Lost was definitely going to be purgatory, I mean right before this song Jack was saying to Kate "3 days ago we all died, everyone deserves a clean slate/fresh start" or something of that nature. I don't think the producers expected people to analyze it the way they did, and they did the best that they could when people asked if it was purgatory early on. Either way they did a great job, and it's easy to make something look like it was foreshadowing.

@Nerwen85 Haha I'm totally aware of that, but if it had been revealed that it was purgatory at the end then it would have been cool to see Jack pretty much say the answer to the show out loud. I've watched the whole series like 5 times, and trust me, it was going to be purgatory. Darlton said that the end of the show remained the same from the point Jack touches his Dad's coffin to the end, what could have the original story leading up to that been to warrant the same ending?

Think about it...People started calling purgatory halfway through S1, the producers could A) Admit it, ruin the show and lose millions of viewers or B) Lie, get through Season 1, leave it as open-ended as possible, and figure out how to change it during the break after Season 2. First time you hear "See ya in another life, Brotha" was Season 2 ep.1. As much as I loved the show, when you think about it they spent a ton of time just wandering around, getting separated, and reuniting.

@Nerwen85 I do believe Jack's Dad was Jesus. Also, how does the character's being alive affect if he was Jesus. Jack's dad's name was Christian Shepard. What was Jesus? A christian Shepard. That's not the only reason though. In The End when they all meet in the Church Jack goes to his Dad's coffin when he opens it the body was gone. His dad then appears behind him explains what happened and leads Jack and the others into the Afterlife. That is a story in the bible. Something Jesus does.

Plus the moment of sadness in Sawyer's eyes. Up til now he's behaved like a selfish asshole. This little act of kindness from Sayid shows us the first hint of humanity in Sawyer (although he still behaves selfishly for quite a long time after)

People who dislike the finale were those who forgot about the magic of early sequences such as this which have existed from the very beginning of the show. To end it in such a way brought it back to its origins and showed that it hadn't completely lost the plot. This scene expresses the new life they acquired on the island, the fresh start - the ability to let go of the past. And what does the finale show us?....The same thing!!!! That's why The End was just brilliant.
