  • should have been the original retail!

  • The normal one sounds darker the this happy intro.

  • Y-Yuyuko?! Is that you?! Did you eat the Dreamcast?!?!

  • I like the old one better

  • This is much cooler than the one they really used. It showed the console's power right from the start.

  • this should the new xbox 360 startup sound.

  • This boot Sega Dreamcast is better than the olden

  • is this real? If it is how can i install it to my dreamcast?

  • I think they should have used this instead of the one they did choose!

  • @HotpointForever they did but on normal dreamcast it didn't have this. this one is for the dev.box that sega gave the devs of the dreamcast this kind of dreamcast for free.

  • The Dreamcast had such great games. AND the GD-ROMs had an anti-piracy lock.

  • @wiithepeople2 yeah but the dreamcast itself actually didnt have a lock out chip. It was pretty much chipped out the box.

  • I'm so glad I just bought one, now what t-

    Crap, I didn't buy any games -_-

  • @Nin10Yoshi

Wait... your DC didn't come with any games? Not even a single Demo disk? :P

  • @SammEater Nope just the used console in perfect condition

  • i still have this system since i was little and right now its 10-15-2011 and i dont even know how to do that on the system!!!! imma play right now and figure it out

  • @diamondboy163 That was the startup for the Dev. Kit, (or Developers Kit) and does not exist on the retail models. I'm pretty sure of that.

  • I wish i had my dreamcast back

  • this really makes me cry the Dreamcast was one of the greatest systems of all time i'm proud to say that I am an owner but Sega went out with a really great console at least

  • @vghardcore The marketing kinda sucked too, though, and the fact game sales were poor + the effort required to program the saturn meant devs left Sega. The PS3 had a very similar issue, but Sony cut costs and ended up turning sales around.

  • @vghardcore Devs didn't like that the Saturn was getting dumped early. Neither did consumers. The n64 went till 2002 in the US, the PS1 till 04 (games) and 06 (console production). Saturn? Last game in 1998, nobody carried it, and systems got cleared out fast. It's why US version games like Panzer Dragoon Saga are hoarded to shit.

  • I've never had this system, but I can say it has the cutest sounding startup.

I was a Mario child, never a Sonic child, that's why I've never used this xD

  • I wish this was the start up used on the Retail dreamcasts.... Hmm... is there anyway I can modify my Dreamcast to display this logo?

  • man sega needs to make another console..

  • Man, if i mod my Dreamcast boot i`ma try to have that! :I

  • The real Sega Dreamcast 2 start up!

  • epic

  • Awesome! Better than the actual DC Boot... =]

  • How did this console not save SEGA?

It outsold in it's opening week. It had the best ration of good games to bad games in the history of home consoles. It had features at leats five years ahead of it's time.

This should have been SEGA's comeback into console-making after the failure of the Saturn, so why did they stop?

They ended their time in the console wars with theri biggest success and best machine.

Why not carry on from there?

  • @TheJboy88 Because of Playstation 2 it have dvd for games and it plays dvd videos and the dreamcast don't

  • @TheJboy88 Didn't save SEGA because it was a free system. There was hardly any piracy protection. One could simply go online, burn a game onto a standard CD-R and boom free games. THAT'S what killed it essentially. That and the lack of DVD Playback.

  • @TheJboy88 Sega failed at business decisions:

    1. 32x.

    2. Releasing the Nomad instead of a true GG successor.

    3. Saturin game licensing.

    4. Making the saturn hard to program, causing third parties to dump it (The PS3 almost had a similar issue)

    5. Rushing the DC.

  • @HaloSpartanG13 3.5: Hiring Berne Stolar

  • I wanna download this BIOS :)

  • It sounds a bit like Puyo Pop Fever, for some reason...

  • Sega made some bad choices... Like wasting their time making seperate logos for dev kits, and stuff...

  • original is better

  • @mkfan1997 Yea

  • Question, is this a real boot up or someone make it

  • @Sonicfanallways

Real, it's the one used in the development kit.

  • @str8outtahillsbrad Where do you get it?

  • @Sonicfanallways

I'm not sure exactly, some hardcore collectors were able to get it on ebay or something, but they were only generally made available to software developers to well, make games with.

  • @paizuriman - Plus porting the games from them to PC would be quite trivial since they use similar APIs/architectures.

  • I'm gonna make this as my PC Boot Screen

  • This is way better than the original

  • reminds me of the gamecube boot animation. I like the console boot better though.

  • Not only is this boot up awesome, the dreamcast had a second main menu that was blue and 3D, you could rotate a camera and stuff in the main menu, it was badass, but they decided to go with the more simple, IMO ugly menu it shipped with.

I wonder why they never used this start up or that menu.

  • I would be interesting if someone were to find a way to inject this boot into a unit's motherboard in order to make this the boot. I think the only method of making this a boot change in on emulators.

  • why this isnt the final boot

is soooooooo much better then the original

  • Can I flash this to an existing Dreamcast????

  • When i was like 4 years and i play on the night this scare the shit out of me

  • this is sik

  • Ahh, the sounds of a long dead consol

  • @zang274 nah dude it hast to go to the playstaion 1

  • Is there a possible way to use this startup on a regular dreamcast? like thru hacking or something?

  • @NuclearBanana276 nope...there's no way, so just die.

  • @TroIlviruS1 You make me laugh, go fuck off

  • @NuclearBanana276 There's a hacked DC BIOS that acts as a regular BIOS but has the DevBox startup. You'd have to flash the chip on the DC's hardware, but then again if you're not careful, the BIOS might not work and you'll brick your console.

  • Tough luck. DC was continued in Japan ONLY Until 2006.

  • @etoangfavoriteko Until 2007 with Karous and Trigger Heart Exelica ;)

  • @zang274 Good for you.

Next time, show how you "don't care about that crap" by not replying, then that line will actually make a little sense.

  • sigh...~_~ in my opinion I think IT would been like a common system like a 64 and playstation NOW (because it had spunk) but to bad that it's era died and its hard to find these bastards to @_@; luckily I still have mine. . . with with epic titles like Power Stone ,Sonic Adventure. . .THOSE WERE GOOD GAMES ! its a classic keeper if you have one...juss sayin. . .

  • thing is that dreamcast failed!

  • @XIjimmyXIthq the dreamcast didnt fail we failed the dreamcast

  • @awayofgreen12 In soviet russia people fail consoles. Nuff Said. -_-

  • @awayofgreen12 It would have helped if the Dreamcast used DVDs instead of proprietary GD-ROMs.

  • Oh nice but the first logo is nice too

  • @zang274 NO! The other Dreamcast boot up screen is better.

  • Is this a real intro?

  • @GDelva2003

This is a real boot that consule was the developers release console

The Dreamcast has 2 boots this one is the developers release console boot

    and the regular console boot

  • @GDelva2003 NO

  • ok iv look into it and you can put a DVD/CD laser in the Dreamcast the only problem is to find one that has the same IDE cable as the laser and the laser mother board not just that but you need to find a laser the has the same modem as the GD rom laser there are some out their but finding them are hard

  • @flash11588 is there a link or somewhere we might be able to find this information at all?

  • mine sure doesn't do that. but that is the best boot up screen i ever seen!

  • i have this as a ringtone :3

  • The original coloured logo! before the copyright dispute forced them to make it blue, I only saw a few import models and dispace consoles that had the original logo.

  • What is the sega dreamcast? Is it old or is it new? I'm so stupid.

  • @21djk its old, and ur not stupid even if I dont know you. Also THE best intro but why didnt sega have it blue? I mean SEGA is blue so i dont get it.

  • @21djk A video game console released far back in 1998.

  • @zang274 but eetz tweew.

Tee'z teh best bootscreen evar :O

  • I have a feeling if this was the original one I would've loved it.

  • i personally prefer the original intro

  • ah,the red swirl,it wil be a notstalgic bend in our minds.

  • How come sega always scraps these?

  • @swampert384 You could try ebay.

  • This is Better than the Original.

  • @zang274 no the real one is so fucking epic :D

  • Epic bootscreen. Sega... Why don't you re-release the Dreamcast (eventually) as a real budget priced console (£40 most) and use this bootscreen on it? That would be awesome. :D

  • @TheOnlineXtreme They did during christmas 2009 on thinkgeek. Except it was priced at 99.99.

  • Playstation is next

  • Wow. The actual DreamCast should have had this intro. Though maybe with this version's 3D effect and the original's super relaxing sound effect.

  • Greatest system ever?

  • If only the Dreamcast had a DVD Drive instead of a GD-Rom Dive, Sony's PS2 wouldn't have been able to kick the dreamcast out of the game as easily as they did,

  • @sousuke121

totally its the unfortunate but sad truth at the time DVD was becoming huge because VHS had been around for a long time with no replacement and people where all over DVD...

  • why did the development team get a cool startup screen and we just got the stupid bouncy ball letters and swirly????

  • Where would I look to get my hands on a dev box?

  • I Loved the DreamCast and proud to say I still have mine after all these years in perfect shape.

  • @TheMoonGuy22 Yeah me too high five!

  • this one is far better than the one on the sold dream cast

  • Sounds a little bit like the "T&E Soft" Intro ^^

But i like the toilet too :D

  • I really don't understand why they didn't use this and instead had to use the other one which sounds like a leaking toilet. Oh well, Sega works in mysterious ways...

  • @BlackbirdRabbit Sega makes lots of bad choices is all.

  • this is the best dc startup ever i want a dc that has this one.

  • They should had used this intro for the retail version.

  • "limited edition"? as far as i know there are no dreamcasts that have that boot up other than the dev.box console . so you have a dev.box.

  • I want a Dreamcast DEV BOX!

  • Is there a possible way to download this start up screen to a earlier dreamcast console?

  • so 2000.. i never got to play this console... damn

  • yeah. You Should, there kinda fun

  • how is the library of titles? like wii titles or what?

  • dude this console created the series of games such as shenmue, power stone and jet grind radio....can u say epic much?

  • @goldplatedgaming fucking wii titles? hell no! better than wii games? YESS!

  • Oh man this intro is soo cute for some reason!

  • Piracy didn't kill the Dreamcast! It was DVD Compatibility! I hate Sony's PS2 just for that!

  • great! this sounds ok, but we need sega to get a new console this year.

  • RingEdge is arcade hardware...

  • @FusekiGames NAOMI is to Dreamcast, as RingEdge is to [Whatever can be possibly next]

  • Comment removed

  • That's the same as saying Limbergh is to [Whatever could be possibly next] or Hikaru is to [Whatever could be possibly next] or Europa-R is to [Whatever could be possibly next]... see where this is going? All of those are arcade hardware platforms that don't have home console equivalents. Just because Sega introduces new arcade hardware does not mean that they're going to bring out a new console. We'll see, but I have huge doubts that it's going to happen.

  • AWESOME! This could be the perfect boot for DC2! Just add a #2.

  • dreamcast.

the system that PIRACY killed :(

  • @Rusty3659 Playstation killed Dreamcast.

  • no, PIRACY killed dreamcast. And WTH do you mean playstation? Saturn came out same time as the playstation 1. Dreamcast came out during PlayStation2 area. get your facts straight!

  • You're both right and wrong. It was a combination of many, many things that lead to Sega's downfall in the console market. Don't get me wrong, the Saturn and Dreamcast are amazing consoles, but it was a combination of many bad business decisions that lead to said downfall.

  • it was MOSTLY piracy. WTF?! You think kids who can copy a disc will still PAY for it? FUCK NO, friend. Fuck no!!

  • Whatever you say, crazy person.

  • @MrAnders0n2 like bernie stoler

  • @burnoutmanful Yeah, both Stolar and Peter Moore.

  • @MrAnders0n2 I blame Bernie Stolar...

  • @PranksAreUs83

I wouldn't put the whole blame on him honestly he did nothing but good early on but it was more SEGA of Japan that screwed up by letting Bernie's team go and not letting him keep them at the time...

  • @MrAnders0n2 I say that genesis was good. My dreamcast sucked. I have a Crazy Taxi for the Xbox 360 though.

  • @MrAnders0n2 It probably wouldn't have happened if they had just scrapped the Sega 32X and Sega CD along with the games. Those are major failures in video game history.

  • @MrAnders0n2 No, there're not many bad things that led to downfall. The price was big, people were still playing PS1, and PS2 came soon after. Besides, Dreamcast didn't had as much as of comercials as did Playstation, especially popular for Football games such as Winning Eleven and Pro Evolution Soccer. On the PS1 it was ISS pro Vallderama. Dreamcast in game-places was playing because of the Crazy Taxi, Soul Calibur as well as Skies of Arkadia.

  • @c1k4ml3kc3 I doubt the price ($199 on launch for a very advanced machine) had anything to do with it. Most people I know who didn't buy a Dreamcast at the time were waiting for the PS2. Sony had the hype machine in full force.

  • @c1k4ml3kc3

Dreamcast didn't have commercials? Um your totally wrong man SEGA put forth there highest AD campaign ever for the launch of the system (literally all over magazines , MTV's VMAs , and loads more). The fact Sony launched Final Fantasy 8 in America to counter act the Dreamcast launch pretty much showed that Sony was somewhat worried but again i'm convinced if the Dreamcast would of had a DVD player in it it would of succeed much more then it did thus since Sony's PS2 had DVD yea.

  • @hec2006 Listen idiot, you live in the fucking US, not in Europe or Asia. When I say that SEGA didn't have as much commercials as PlayStation did you better find out why is it like that instead to correct me by stating some magazines and shit. I already said that thanks to the football games (EU soccer) everywhere was all about PlayStation. Sega had maybe Virtua tenis and similar sports but no proper advertising so either stfu or gtfo. Seriously.

  • @MrAnders0n2

Honestly it all pretty much started with the Sega CD , 32x and Game Gear (not as much but it still hurt the company) these 3 things pretty much where bad decisions on SEGA's part and pretty much it all kept leading to bad luck with publishers as well leading to games on other systems not being brought to the Saturn and Dreamcast (ala EA not supporting the Dreamcast and FF7 not ending up on the Saturn as well).

  • @MrAnders0n2

Its a damn shame really cause I think if the Dreamcast would of had a DVD player in it I think SEGA would of sold alot more systems and would of probably been able to stay for one more life cycle atleast after Dreamcast. Spending $20 million on Shenmue as well didn't help matters as that game I think could of been done on half of that budget if not less I personally think. I give SEGA some props though atleast they've improved somewhat with there third party efforts now...

  • @MrAnders0n2 The ill fated Dreamcast was released halfway between generation shifts, Sega gave Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo a huge advantage to get a step up on them, the Dreamcast lacked support by most second-party developers and therefore had a lack of hit titles other than the ones developed or published by Sega itself, and while the first (and last) two years of the Dreamcast's lifetime, it was praised, the release of the PlayStation 2 sent the Dreamcast to the back of the shelves.

  • @Rusty3659 Actually Dreamcast came out like a year before PS2 did...

  • that sounded so 90's. i love it, even if i've never played this system before!!!

  • i like this one more

  • sound like a puzzle fighter 2 ranking screen music

  • droomkast

  • ahhhhh crazy taxi my favorite game on dreamcast

  • if only I could figure out how to hexedit this version into the orignal boot bios...

that would be one smexy dreamcast.

  • Man, the Dreamcast was the best. It had great games (Chu Chu Rocket! Jet Grind Radio, Sonic Adventure, and Crazy Taxi)

  • cant forget powerstone 1 and 2

  • You missed Shenmue :)

  • I thought this was better than the normal one.

  • wait haw many startup movies can u use on a dreamcast. ive seen 2

  • theres like 2 variations :

One is the normal one you see on every dreamcast (color varies by country)

this one is (like mentioned above) Only on the Dreamcast Developers Kits (given to sega licenceors)

  • i get it now

  • what is a best emulator of dreamcast for PC???

  • Chankast OR NulDC, depending on your rig.

  • nullDC!Chankast doesnt work on my pc.

  • hold up.what kind a computer do you have man? cause i think i can get it working.

  • hmm.for 2009 is low end computer.Here are specs:

Amd Athlon XP 2500+ 1.80 ghz

    2 gb ram

512 mb Sapphire Ati Radeon x1650 pro

    need to say more?

  • will it work on a laptop? I have a dual core AMD64 2.2GHz + 3GB ram & 128 mb GeForce graphics card.

  • LOL!

    You ask with THIS specs...

    Of course it will!

    You can even emulate PS2!

    P.S.:I got new pc

  • i got the bios on mine... :)*lucky* but i need the iso.i would go on iso hunt but my older brother said it going to have my computer a virus.*unlucky* :(

  • Comment removed

  • No, a Dreamcast isn't a PS1.

  • Sort of, there is a Playstation Emulator called Bleem, which has 3 versions Tekken 3, Gran Turismo 2 and Metal Gear Solid. They are sold individually and only play that specific game.

There is also a leaked version of Bleem!cast beta which is suppose to be comaptible with all PSX games, but it's only 30% complete, doesn't work on all games, has graphical glitches and doesn't show any FMV nor is able to save game files.

  • yes you can.with bleemcast!!

  • no but that would be great tho! ^_^ lolz

  • BLASPHEMY!

  • It looks like NHK DVD logo.

  • the intro makes me feel happy and ready to go. *sigh* Sega was the best

  • When the games came into a new generation (PlayStation 3, Wii, xBox 360), Sonic games are now going downhill. I'm buying more DS games because of this XD

  • the swirl animation looks a bit like the gamecube logo

  • If the SEGA dreamcast 2 is real, I hope they use this for the startup!

  • i doubt it's real since sega pulled out of Video game conosles. I would really love to see a new dreamcast. Make it better than the 360! or Wii! or PS3!
