  • I'm from Bargoed a former mining town in the south wales valleys, and i'm afraid he's so right about us with that particuler welsh accent, i used to sound so much like that when i was a boy, i'd pronounce the word 'no' in that 'singy songy ' was(as he put it) though it does sound so terribly common and he made us sound like we're a load of morons,..lol! I'm glad to say my accent doesnt sound as welsh as that now these days !

  • Lovely accent!!!!!!!!

  • I'm from Swansea. I laughed so hard at this video XD.

  • the virginity is strong in this one

  • the accent is great but remember the accent is different through out south wales... x

  • Looking at this and realizing how much of a teat your accent makes you sound:(

  • Thanks you helped me with my play

  • Pretty good representation of South Welsh accent.

  • Thumbs up if your from south Wales

  • @kickassberrow I agree, i'm from 'Bargoed', not far from blackwood, and i used to sound exactly like the way he was pronouncing it, but that was when i was a boy, i'm 43 this year, my accent has changed since ive got older and pronounce things more correctly!

  • @Loverboy19691 im 12 and live in senghenydd, near Caerphilly

  • @kickassberrow I am so sorry to hear that.

  • @supersesqui what's the matter with you

  • You know it would help if you spelled the URL not just let him say.

  • Accents in north Wales are different too. In Clwyd we sound much different from the people from Wrexham and the north east. :L

  • I live on Welsh street... (Not in Wales)

  • most welsh people (like me) dont have an accent though.. :S

  • @Entybach Really? Where in Wales are you from? I'm from Neath/Swansea area and everyone speaks like this. I get made fun of because I sound too English.

  • good video but this guy seems a bit awkward lol

  • @david78937 You mean when he would look over at his notes/cards/prompter or what have you? Least thats what it seemed like to me.

  • @AnimalGirlVideos Sori am dan hynna dwi'n defnyddio IPod fi, mi wyt ti'n gallu siarad cymreag yn da ond ti angen edrych ar dy treiglad, dwin meddwl rwyt ti'n ddim yn clywed ddigon o pobl siarad y iaith pa le o cymru wyt ti'n dod o?

  • He was hidin' behind the jukebox, wasn't he?

  • Well done! You sound just like a welsh person or as the welsh would say

'Da iawn! Mi wyt ti yn swnio jyst fel person cymraeg!'

  • I can only role one "r" anyway...

  • are you from abercumfuckme ?

  • There was a brilliant comedy situation programme on BBC Wales on welsh telly in the 1970's, pre-S4C channel, starring two people as two grandfathers from south AND north Wales, both father in laws by tragic marriage, for each. Chalk and cheese they were living in the same house a s they daughter and son, pidgeons and chapel organ.. Such differences were shown by the coal and slate by the ton. Ryan Davies was one of the grandfathers, Ryan as here,

    watch?v=gH3yqBW1AJ4

  • butt when they say the welsh don't mean your butt, as in you arss, as the London english speak - it means friend. Hey butt, ows you doing? as in hey friend, how are you doing? simples.

  • since ave been learning to speak welsh its got stronger

  • Spend like 7 days in the valleys, you'll get a better understanding of the accent, no fucker i know sais "ewsing" (using) etc.

    Thats

  • Thanks for the education!

  • im from swansea lol!! i sound like that :/ x

  • my mrs from the south wales from the valley it cracks me up when she says three and tidy

    and init

  • im from cardiff. and only people from the valleys have accents in the whole of wales. nobody speaks like this..

  • @PopZzRaptor i do im from south wales so..

  • @PopZzRaptor Well if you're from Cardiff then you wouldn't talk like this. Cardiff/Barry/Newport accents are very different from those in the rest of South Wales. They sound less "thick".

  • Typical comedy or put on tv accent, cant really pin down what area of south Wales he is trying to do, but 95% of people in South Wales sound nothing like this, why when people do the Welsh accent do they always try and make them sound a little retarded ? This is not how we talk, sorry.

  • I'm from South Wales and I think he did a good job. However, there are a lot of different accents even throughout South Wales. For example if I was in a room with some people, one from Merthyr, one from Rhymney, one from Cardiff, one from Ebbw Vale and one from Swansea and one from Blackwood. I guarantee you I'd be able to say which one was from where just by the accent. And some of these places are just a couple of miles apart. Though someone from England probably wouldn't tell the difference

  • @alsum501 PAHAHAHAHA U TALK LIKE THIS WHALESSSSSS<-------SHIT HEAD

  • welshmen just sound like a gay irishman

  • @TheWillsskill And you're a Saxon cunt...

  • One of my best friends is from Wales and he sounds nothing like this. But seriously top 3 sexiest accents 1) Scottish 2)Welsh 3)Irish

  • @rainboowmuffins to be fair, I'm in south Wales too and this guy done it pretty good in my opinion

  • ... i don't sound anything like this and i live in south wales...

  • whats your real voice. lol

  • Good. Ican only roll my r's as one tap.

  • @DavePrez07 mE NOT either. But the tapped r , AS well as the trilled one, is cuter then words can say. Welsh sounds similar to Scottish and Czechian.

  • I speak with a Welsh accent when I speak Welsh... otherwise my accent is all American. lol... although sometimes there is a small transition period when I switch from Welsh to American English where the Welsh accent lingers.

  • Thumbs up for a good video-- keep it up man!

  • he should make one on how to do a Tom DeLonge accent :)

  • i'm german but people think i'm american when i speak normal. i can do a convincing scottish accent, i just speak saxonian (german accent) in english=scottish...

a new compagnion of mine is welsh and doesn't sound like this at all. tried to impress him with a few words in his accent, he asked me if i had a stoke lol

  • The last sentence had me crying :')

  • WE SOUND NOTHING LIKE THAT!!!!......well, maybe a little.

  • I'm from south wales I don't talk like that :L

  • @xxjazzie98xx i do-_-

  • @DesiireaF I don't, I'm from Newport and my accent isn't like 'YOU ALRIIIGGHH LUVV?' Lol or whatever, that's more of a northen/western Wales accent, but even if you do, I don't care? :L

  • @xxjazzie98xx I'm from Newport! No one I know has a Welsh accent.

  • @ricojordanrai Lol really? What school do you go to I might know you XD

  • @xxjazzie98xx Duffryn High.

  • @ricojordanrai Me too what year are you in

  • @xxjazzie98xx 8GFV

  • @ricojordanrai Err she's been my french teacher for 3 years in a row -_-''

  • That part at the end about the orange crayon should label this as a comedy video XD

  • im welsh so obviously i don't notice the accent and watching this im like wtf i sound like a dick:')

  • Sorry, but what's the big difference with Scottish accent?

  • @agormanvideos huge! cant your hear it? xD

  • @xxpoisenandkissesxx Nope, do you? :p

  • @agormanvideos They punctuate their sentences with "fucking"

  • i use to speak welsh then i took a arro to the knee

  • @phillips4174 why do people keep saying that?! what is it?

  • @FadeToBlack888 idk either i just want to do things everyoneelse is doing lol

  • @FadeToBlack888 its from a game called Skyrim lol

  • @FadeToBlack888

I know right? I can't tell you how many videos have had comments similar to that in the highest rated part at the top.

  • we welsh can't really say anything evil, our accent is more suited to stuff like "oh look a bumble bee"

  • if you talked like that, i don't think john will be your friend

  • i love the welsh accent :). i wish i could meet and marry a welsh bird one day

  • I don't speak like that and I'm from Wales:L

  • jjjoooon; what are ew dooen?

  • LOL "Can you bring e the orange crayon, please." < V.good, but v. funny.

  • My Dad is from Wales and my Mum is a londerner and I sound nothing like either of theme lol

  • Somehow this guy reminds me of Michael Moon (Steve John Shepherd) from EastEnders... How queer :/

  • Sing song accent?

    LOL good one XD

  • Haha! Brilliant!!!!

  • i was a bit worried when i first started to watch this video as i'm from wales... but iv'e gotta say your not too bad actually

  • Oooh! He almost said 'that's much more common than it is in other parts of England' Blasphemy!

  • sound like an orgasmatron to me.

  • or just live in wales, like me!

  • This video helped me a lot when typing my charater's accent.

  • Im welsh, I have an accent, I have some of the things that he says but not the "Brright outside" thing. o-o

  • People from Cardiff sound very different :L

  • Like the only I can say with a Welsh accent is stuff about omelettes because of Gavin and Stacey :)

  • like bryn when he said its bright outside today hahaha

  • Awh cool I so have like a proper welsh accent I'm from the valleys you see so the accent where I'm from are super welshy even welshier than gavin and stacey :)

  • Are Welsh people all donkeys... "JOOOOOoooOOOhhhhn!"

  • this is a great video! but i have to say, i like your normal voice and i want to use an accent like that for a character in my book, but i don't know what it is, so what is your regular accent in your voice?

  • thank you Torchwood, my inner voice now has a Welsh accent

  • @wickedlynatalie I got the same problem after watching too much Gavin and Stacey.

  • @maraskywalkeriii same, I caught it after a while as well :)

  • where's he fucking looooking at mun?

  • i blame torchwood

  • mae en penpiden

  • He forgot to say 'mun'. That word makes a South Wales Valley accent. I can't go a day without saying it at least ten times, seriously.

  • Ahhh thats my accent :) x

  • I'm half welsh, and was exsposed to 2 different cultures growing up. so my accent is half modern southern american and half welsh. it sounds really weird how I pronounce somethings. any advice on how to keep the 2 seperate that way people can understand me clearer?

  • I WANT TO BE ABLE TO DO A WELSH ACCENT. Why's it so hard?!!

  • 1:04 he almost said England and not UK, caught himself ;-)

  • anyone else think the background music sounds like a porno?

  • Here...... is your orange crayon...

  • When I imitate a south Walian, I just emphasize the second-to-last syllable of every sentence B|

  • I was born in London, my best friend asked me, and he said I don't sound like a Londoneer, he said I sounded Welsh? lol so I wasn't sure how a Welsh person sounded like so here I am on this video, and I don't think I sound like this at all :L lol.

  • I enjoyed that. The Welsh accent has always been the one most difficult for me.

  • This guy is incredible!

  • @FadeToBlack888 Matt Tuck

  • when he sed USE and he made it sound like EWS im from wales and never ever heard anyone sayin EWS hahaaaa

  • @KilluminatiBarber It seems to me like they wouldn't drop the Y sound in initial U's. I don't think Gwen Cooper ever did that in Torchwood.

  • @KilluminatiBarber im from wales as well & i never hear anyone saying that either to be honest ... but we might be saying it without realizing :')

  • Dont refer to the weather in UK.....The UK is a corporate state.......the island is called Great Britain (little britain is Brittany in latin)!! argghh period pains

  • Oh God now I've been reminded of how camp we sound.... -_-

  • Hang on we don't all sound like we are from Swansea and Cardiff you know ?

  • Not a bad impression, you've got all the main features right but it's a bit too camp and melodramatic. It sounds like a 'stage accent'.

  • @pineXgreen he said he was an actor and voice coach. Voice coaches are typically needed to teach people stage dialects. What he ought to say in these is "If you want to genuinely pretend to be Welsh, dial the pitch glides down a bit. I am exaggerating and extreme pitch glides like this are most practical for the stage"

  • If Wales beat France this weekend, it'll certainly be a brright outside t'day.

  • North Wales ppl r gogs lol not that I have anything against em but This mans accent is good but he seems to be mocking a bit

  • that bit at the beginning...

  • Fuck r-right off.

  • The North Walian accent is the best though!!

  • @JoeAdamJonasFan19 do you know a celebrity or anyone on youtube with one? i want to know what it sounds like!

  • @FadeToBlack888 watch gavin and stacey :)

  • theres also a big difrence betwwen swansea ,llanelie and camarthen you fuck wit

  • I'm Italian and I find welsh accent sooo HOT!!

  • What bollocks.

  • Haha. Reminds me of Gavin and Stacey :P

I'm from South West Wales and I only think I get like a proper welsh accent like what he is doing after I have a welsh lesson, when I'm speaking welsh in that lesson or occasionally it just happens for some random reason.

  • Im BORN With A Welsh Accesnt So Us Pontypandy People Are Quite Fine No Tuotorial For Me

  • i got a proper welsh accent... coz im welsh! (cymraes)

  • Thaaaat did not help me at all. Now welsh people just want to punch me in the face. And I sound like an idiot when I follow his advice

  • I DONT FUCKING CAAAAAAREE!!!!

  • can you bring me the orange crayon please? whats that meant to mean? :L

  • AND WE DO NOT HAVE A FUCKING SING SONG VOICE PLUS IS FROM SOUTH WALES WE DO NOT SAY FUCKING JOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHN

  • @CMLaneLV NO WERE FUCKING NOT!!!!!

  • @AceXPr3dAtOrZz131

    u

    mad

    bro

  • @Cheesypunk welsh people are so critical, cynical, and angry all the time!

    ugh

  • Fair enough video, but I wish the tinny music from the background'd be omitted for these videos, as you're trying to have a proper listen and don't need the added "white noise" stealing your attention. That said, the presenter is doing a lovely job at *not* sounding like a caricature, and that ought to be commended.

  • 1:54 - its bright outside today

....in the UK?!?!?! PFFT dont make me laugh! :P

  • @1818181818p I'm not lying, it was actually really sunny today!

  • @Lisaasaurus Sunny? In Wales? That's a first.

Not being snippy, more of an generalized observation, it's like it's cloudy 24/7 over there.

  • @VintageBalderdash I'm not from Wales, they said UK and I'm entitled to argue with that! xD I've never been to Wales, but I did Geography and I know that rain generally hits them first so that is factually correct. I don't think any Welshmen/women can argue with that because if they do they're wrong.

  • @1818181818p Your profile says you live in the USA? Then shut yer gob if you're not actually from here.

  • @xLiiLxDANNiix didnt fill out my youtube account because i couldnt be arsed, i actually live in the west midlands mate, and my last comment was something called a 'Joke', people like you piss me off, you need to get a sense of humor

  • @1818181818p He sorts that by saying he's going to ar just after :P

  • Also, although Welsh people would say do'en

They wouldn't say bet, instead of bit. More likely the 't' would be dropped instead.

So it would be 'would ew wan a bi' o'tha'

instead of 'would you want a bit of that'.

  • Other parts of Engla... the United Kingdom...

lol, good save! Almost had a lots of angry Welsh posts!

    Oh, and good impression.

  • lol we say here like yer/year!

  • He's a voice coach: he is after the maximum effect with the minimum effort.

This is a McWelsh accent. It is good enough to mislead anyone who wouldn't recognise the real thing if it bit them.

That is all you need for TV.

  • im from south wales and no one i know sounds like that..
