hey, question! in the version on the album "tinsel town rebellion" there's a few bars after "learn some stupid riffs" with a couple more lines ("and practice all their poses in between their powder sniffs") that aren't here and a dumb little rinky-dink melody on the keyboard. it sounds like the bass plays this, or something like it, through much of the song as well. is this melody zappa's or was it lifted from something?
"i define frank's singing ability as 'weak' because it is not the typical type of singing i am used to. i must degrade anything i am not used to, because, in fact, i am weak. (i am positively haunted by irony.) anything which is different to what i consider 'normal' rocks my little world - i can not open my mind to different, unique, types of art. i hereby swear to alert all i can of my small mind by posting useless comments on youtube. thank you and goodnight"
Frank knew he wasn't a good singer. That's why he got singers for when the song needed a singer. This doesn't need a good singer, and as he wasn't playing guitar as well, he sang it.
@KMKYradio Why should I be so concerned about what Zappa would have thought of me for using the word "owns" in a youtube comment post which by the way also happens to contain the phrase "silly buns"?
Another GENIUS FRANK ZAPPA`S Song ! Lyrics as always, remarkable - on top ! And Boy, o Boy, those perfectly change of rhythm during whole song ;-) ZAPPA RULES !
A song that still needs to be sung about the music biz's usual brain-dead mentality that continuously cranks out banal, unimaginative and stupid music. Just because Frank's no longer with us, it doesn't mean we have to stop calling the biz on its bs.
Every casting show contestant should listen to this! Nearly every line has a point about the music business which is true now and obivously has been true at least since back in the 80's.

Hysterical song that is still releveant today. Funny that they make fun of Devo, who I love.

@pulmon66, do you really think the appeal of Zappa was in the singing?

@pulmon66 this really means:
