A lot of these soldiers have been doing this for a while now with the same people from the opposing force, so the chances are they perform the cold handshake to make it look authentic. It's not supposed to be all warm and friendly as its spectacle, but in actual fact the soldiers all know that, speak the same language and will both know they are doing their jobs. I bet the border guards get along with each other fine and that their behaviour is far more cordial than politicians from either side.
