Violin among Western instruments has been found most suitable for classical Indian music including the more exacting demands of Carnatic system. No other instruments are found to be as suitable as violin for C.M . Mandolin has been modified by U.Srinivas and it enables CM to be played on fast tempos as well, although some deficinces are still noticeable. Guitar is being increasingly made sitable to CM. But saxophone continues to be too tough for adequate modification for CM.
