Cn armel to Monterey is more than a little scary, there are places where it is flat out terrifying, one has to fight the urge to pull over at a turnout, get out of your car and just start crying, and shaking all over. I almost turned back, finally talked myself into growing a pair,an got on with it. Still an all an experience well worth partaking of. If you enjoy fine motoring, you really have to do it.
Very beautiful drive. I took it to Monterey in the poring rain and thick fog an it was a little scary. But definitely worth it. I recommend everyone take this route as a drive through if you coming to visit here
@Chris08TT I kind of knew that when I made it but I didn't make it for the reason you assumed. I added the pictures at the end to coincide with the music track I originally had on this before the copywrite bullshit started and they muted it. I added a track off of audioswap after that. I still have the original
@vbdenny ok dude, just do me a favor. I love to drive but im stuck driving in shitty new york streets make a video where i can look over the ocean so i can drink a glass of wine and imagine im drivivng there LOL,,,thanks
@Chris08TT I was walking the streets of NY arounds Times Square last weekend. Much better than in the heat. My brother-in-law has run a yellow cab in the city for 25 years so I understand what you mean. I probably have a video that is what you want but I've kind of lost track.
I go from Santa Monica to Santa Barbara a couple times a month for work, and it's the most peaceful drive ever on the PCH. There's about 15-20 minutes of driving on the 101 but it gets back on the coast in no time. :)
Driving down long highways (motorways) is very relaxing.I drove across the USA 2 times and just can't wait to go back.I'll be saving every little penny until I save 2 grand which is more than enough since I'll be driving on my own.that amount will pay for food, gas and accommodation(s).
@LOWriderNL nope, no fucking kidding. Of course it is a video swap from youtube since the damn copywriters muted my original song. Let's just say it sounded strange and fit in the time. The original sound was much better since you could hear the Harleys passing and the road noise.
hey bro look what i found in related vids .. my good friend denny .. i didnt knw you had drove this .. this video is what im fixong to show later tonight .. truely a amazing ride isnt it
@ScrewdUPClickV2 yes it is click. Yeah, it's kind of neat when you see someone you know in related videos and comments, stuff like that. The PCH was just a beautiful drive. I usually stay east but every once in awhile....
Drove from SF to LA this year on my second holiday to California. There was a point where I thought 'Hey, I've seen this before!', and sure enough, it's because I watched this fine video last year when I was planning my first California trip (which ended taking me north of SF to Portland)
Thanks again for the video, and btw, the new music's very nice :)
@isargin hey, that is a very nice ride. California is a really long state offering beautiful roads. I appreciate the comment and glad you enjoyed your vacation (holiday).
great ride on the PCH1. thanks for sharing! i love visiting in california when we can! we vacation a lot in virginia beach because it is much closer from ny but california is a great place!
I'll be driving from Los Angeles to San Francisco this summer over 3 days. Can anyone recommend good places to stop/stay? It will be part of my holiday in California (Im from the UK). Thanks.

From the Southern Monterey County line to the city limits of Monterey Highway 1 is officially called: " The Big Sur Coast Highway." Northward from Monterey to San Franciso Highway 1 is officially called "Cabrillo Highway."

You are such a lucky person to live in such a beautiful continent......I have visited Washington DC, Baltimore, Annapolis back in the '90s as I had friends who lived there then.
Thank you - yes it was amazing!!! I bought a Nikon D60 digital slr especially for the ocasion and took no less than 400 images!!! I so want to do it again........planning to do it again in 2012, hopefully - this time tho from SF down to LA as by doing so - Im on the "right" side of the highway. How many times have you driven the highway and where are you from?
@Trentyist I have driven from LA to Monterey and back, stopping in Santa Barbara for a week. I live on the other side in Virginia Beach. Although I have been to LA and SB a few times, I only drove the PCH that once.
What kind of Jack??? If you mean how much did it cost to hire the car.......approx £500 (Im English!) And yes it was awesome.........the car was cool and even created quite a stir with quite a few Americans !!
@Trentyist I forget how much it was to rent the car but not all that much. Not sure how many L's (no fancy L's on my computer) but around $50 a day maybe.
What kind of Jack??? If you mean how much did it cost to hire the car.......approx £500 (Im English!) And yes it was awesome.........the car was cool and even created quite a stir with quite a few Americans !!
@Trentyist Yeah, that is exactly what I meant. L500 is pretty reasonable for a vette. What a thrill driving a big V-8 on Hwy 1. Sounds like an amzing trip. If you do that again, you better bring your camera.
This is just fantastic!..............Last summer - June 15 thru June 21 I hired a Hertz Chevrolet corvette and drove from LA to SF stopping at palces like Carpenteria, Pismo Beach, Carmel and Morro Bay. It was just the best holiday Ive ever had!!! Gonna do it again. This video just makes me California dream! Wonderful !!

I can imagine that was quite an experience. My friend and I drove from Oswego, NY to Las Vegas (straight through) in a Triumph GT-6. Pretty small cars. I never had a VW bus but I did have a jacked up, wide tired Econoline.
beautiful scenery, thanks for posting the video. Brings back some memories for me. Back in summer of 07 we drove from SF as far south as Big Sur and then headed back north. I've got another trip planned in about 6 weeks where we'll make the full drive all the way to LA, with stops along the way of course.
I nevy you getting to make this drive again. We stopped in Big Sur and many of the vistas along the PCH to take in the beautiful views. I don't get to the west coast very often so I always hope that my wife has a meeting in Santa Barbara again in July as I want to go back. Thanks for taking the time to post a comment, it is always appreciated.
you know that I went back and watched this version and the original which I have stored and you are correct, this really is much better with this video. I'm just upset the audio swap lost my original road noise which I had blended.

Easy to understand. I plan to drive more of it in a few years. What an amazing road and the views are spectular. I especially liked that they had the vistas (scenic overlooks for you fellow east coasters) that you could stop and take it all in.
Man I'm gonna be on this road next week-end!! I swear to god! It's my holiday vacation, 3 weeks through South West USA (I come from Europe), that's gonna be awesome!
Yup, a big ole black TA with a massive 455 and some BFG T/A'a would provide fun on this road. I sure hope you have a stick shift and not an automatic as that would diminish the fun.

Rest assured the video does not do the drive justice but the Pacific Coast Highway has some areas with cliffs on the right going up into the mist and views to the left off a 400 foot cliff straight down to the Pacific Ocean.
I have been all over (and lived in) BC and yes it has some amazing drives, some equal in majesty and beauty to this drive, but the PCH going North before hitting Monterey took my breath away as much as anything in BC.
We stopped in san luis and had lunch in the hamburger place right by the docks. I forgot the name of the place but I inow I took pictures there of the sea lions laying there begging for food. Being an east coast boy myself, it was an experience.
