  • I love this drive. Yes, it forced me to grow a pair, on more than one occasion. But, it's so worth it.

  • Cn armel to Monterey is more than a little scary, there are places where it is flat out terrifying, one has to fight the urge to pull over at a turnout, get out of your car and just start crying, and shaking all over. I almost turned back, finally talked myself into growing a pair,an got on with it. Still an all an experience well worth partaking of. If you enjoy fine motoring, you really have to do it.

  • De puta madre? Hahaha

  • Very beautiful drive. I took it to Monterey in the poring rain and thick fog an it was a little scary. But definitely worth it. I recommend everyone take this route as a drive through if you coming to visit here

  • one of the most peaceful drives I have ever taken, excellent video.

  • @lamont7022002 agree and thank you.

  • Im not trying to be a troll, but this video sucks balls.Im sure that highway is nice drive.

This video doesnt show anything special thats why he added all those pics.

  • @Chris08TT I kind of knew that when I made it but I didn't make it for the reason you assumed. I use youtube as a place to store all my videos so I can reflect back and remember various aspects of the trip. We made a lot of stops along the way and made those as seperate videos. I added the pictures at the end to coincide with the music track I originally had on this before the copywrite bullshit started and they muted it. I added a track off of audioswap after that. I still have the original

  • @vbdenny ok dude, just do me a favor. I love to drive but im stuck driving in shitty new york streets make a video where i can look over the ocean so i can drink a glass of wine and imagine im drivivng there LOL,,,thanks

  • @Chris08TT I was walking the streets of NY arounds Times Square last weekend. Much better than in the heat. My brother-in-law has run a yellow cab in the city for 25 years so I understand what you mean. I probably have a video that is what you want but I've kind of lost track.

  • Drove this last summer and was a quality drive!

  • Come on you have to take a few tokes to experience this drive the right way, pack a burrito and have some good tunes

  • @SunsetSideVet That is the way it should be.

  • i take this road every day from la to dana point

  • I go from Santa Monica to Santa Barbara a couple times a month for work, and it's the most peaceful drive ever on the PCH. There's about 15-20 minutes of driving on the 101 but it gets back on the coast in no time. :)

    Great video.

  • the good part starts WAY before s.b ..........in san luis obispo

  • I drove with my sisters in Sept. 2010 from San Francisco to LA down the PCH. It was breathtaking! Cannot wait to drive up the PCH from LA to Seattle.

Thanks for posting a video!! Nothing like PCH!! Amazing!!

  • @Burgvati you are so right. This is one fantastic drive. I appreciate that you took the time to comment.

  • what's this song called? I think it's my new favorite song!

    Great video!!!

  • @bittercoffee2 hey thanks. The song title is listed somewhere. The song came from an audio swap since the original audio had a copywrite issue.

  • Driving down long highways (motorways) is very relaxing.I drove across the USA 2 times and just can't wait to go back.I'll be saving every little penny until I save 2 grand which is more than enough since I'll be driving on my own.that amount will pay for food, gas and accommodation(s).

  • Good video and nice song.Greetings

  • God I wanna go to California Los Angeles one day and drive on this road...

    Greetings from Belgium!

  • @Thomazz46 So many beautiful highways. Thanks from Virginia

  • La puta Madre? ... Are you fuckin kiddin me? :') Strange song.

  • @LOWriderNL nope, no fucking kidding. Of course it is a video swap from youtube since the damn copywriters muted my original song. Let's just say it sounded strange and fit in the time. The original sound was much better since you could hear the Harleys passing and the road noise.

  • @vbdenny Ah that's a shaem. Allway's the same story with YouTube. Nice movie anyway. ;)

  • @LOWriderNL yeah, I hate when they do that.

  • I did it the other way: drove south in green Cadillac I drove coast to coast in 1999. Beautifull!!

  • hey bro look what i found in related vids .. my good friend denny .. i didnt knw you had drove this .. this video is what im fixong to show later tonight .. truely a amazing ride isnt it

  • @ScrewdUPClickV2 yes it is click. Yeah, it's kind of neat when you see someone you know in related videos and comments, stuff like that. The PCH was just a beautiful drive. I usually stay east but every once in awhile....

  • What music is this? Its nocht collective soul?

  • @Tohajan it WAS December by collective soul until WMG decided that it was appropriate so I used a video swap to put something else on here.

  • Drove from SF to LA this year on my second holiday to California. There was a point where I thought 'Hey, I've seen this before!', and sure enough, it's because I watched this fine video last year when I was planning my first California trip (which ended taking me north of SF to Portland)

Thanks again for the video, and btw, the new music's very nice :)

  • @isargin hey, that is a very nice ride. California is a really long state offering beautiful roads. I appreciate the comment and glad you enjoyed your vacation (holiday).

  • great ride on the PCH1. thanks for sharing! i love visiting in california when we can! we vacation a lot in virginia beach because it is much closer from ny but california is a great place!

  • I'll be driving from Los Angeles to San Francisco this summer over 3 days. Can anyone recommend good places to stop/stay? It will be part of my holiday in California (Im from the UK). Thanks.

  • FYI, the "Pacific Coast Highway" is in Southern California. Highway 1 Northward from the city limits of San Luis Obispo to the Monterey Couty Line Highway 1 is officially called "North Coast Scenic Highway." From the Southern Monterey County line to the city limits of Monterey Highway 1 is officially called: " The Big Sur Coast Highway." Northward from Monterey to San Franciso Highway 1 is officially called "Cabrillo Highway."

  • You are such a lucky person to live in such a beautiful continent......I have visited Washington DC, Baltimore, Annapolis back in the '90s as I had friends who lived there then.

    Be good and take care

    Best wishes and kind regards

    David Trent - Hampshire, UK

  • Thank you - yes it was amazing!!! I bought a Nikon D60 digital slr especially for the ocasion and took no less than 400 images!!! I so want to do it again........planning to do it again in 2012, hopefully - this time tho from SF down to LA as by doing so - Im on the "right" side of the highway. How many times have you driven the highway and where are you from?

  • @Trentyist I have driven from LA to Monterey and back, stopping in Santa Barbara for a week. I live on the other side in Virginia Beach. Although I have been to LA and SB a few times, I only drove the PCH that once.

  • What kind of Jack??? If you mean how much did it cost to hire the car.......approx £500 (Im English!) And yes it was awesome.........the car was cool and even created quite a stir with quite a few Americans !!

  • @Trentyist I guess you weren't used to the cheap fuel prices in the US, LOL.

  • @04smallmj nobody here considers it cheap. I filled up my wife's car yesterday at the most expensive place I could find (bp) and paid $3.11 for 89.

  • @vbdenny Here it's around $7.40 per US gallon. Diesel is usually about 5p extra per litre.

  • @Trentyist I forget how much it was to rent the car but not all that much. Not sure how many L's (no fancy L's on my computer) but around $50 a day maybe.

  • @Trentyist Yeah, that is exactly what I meant. L500 is pretty reasonable for a vette. What a thrill driving a big V-8 on Hwy 1. Sounds like an amzing trip. If you do that again, you better bring your camera.

  • This is just fantastic!..............Last summer - June 15 thru June 21 I hired a Hertz Chevrolet corvette and drove from LA to SF stopping at palces like Carpenteria, Pismo Beach, Carmel and Morro Bay. It was just the best holiday Ive ever had!!! Gonna do it again. This video just makes me California dream! Wonderful !!

  • @Trentyist Hey, in a vette that would be really nice. What kind of jack to they get for that?

  • reminds me of driving from vancouver canada to san diego on the coast in a vw bus

  • I can imagine that was quite an experience. My friend and I drove from Oswego, NY to Las Vegas (straight through) in a Triumph GT-6. Pretty small cars. I never had a VW bus but I did have a jacked up, wide tired Econoline.

  • beautiful scenery, thanks for posting the video. Brings back some memories for me. Back in summer of 07 we drove from SF as far south as Big Sur and then headed back north. I've got another trip planned in about 6 weeks where we'll make the full drive all the way to LA, with stops along the way of course.

  • I nevy you getting to make this drive again. We stopped in Big Sur and many of the vistas along the PCH to take in the beautiful views. I don't get to the west coast very often so I always hope that my wife has a meeting in Santa Barbara again in July as I want to go back. Thanks for taking the time to post a comment, it is always appreciated.

  • I live there. Beautiful view. Take your date to the coast.

  • Great song.....Oh yeah, The meaning: Go with the flow. denial breaks me.....

  • BTW, the name of the song is Destination Non-Specific by Colin Mutchler.

  • The music was the result of an audio swap after they blocked my original audio.

  • I like this better; Collective Soul is grunge crap anyway.

  • you know that I went back and watched this version and the original which I have stored and you are correct, this really is much better with this video. I'm just upset the audio swap lost my original road noise which I had blended.

  • Very nice. We just did the trip from San Francisco to San Diego in July. Thanks for posting this!

  • thanks for taking the time to comment, I appreciate that.

  • Great country but after I come home from it, during the first East Coast rainfall, I walk out into it and feel like I just hit Lotto.

  • you've go that right. Luckily, I love on the east coast

  • i'm from Arizona and so back in Aug of 06 I got to go to the ocean and we took the PCH up near Malibu it was an amazing drive. I'm going to have to intentinally take a drive further up the PCH we only did about 20 miles maybe before heading home but what we did drive was so beautiful

  • Easy to understand. I plan to drive more of it in a few years. What an amazing road and the views are spectular. I especially liked that they had the vistas (scenic overlooks for you fellow east coasters) that you could stop and take it all in.

  • Man I'm gonna be on this road next week-end!! I swear to god! It's my holiday vacation, 3 weeks through South West USA (I come from Europe), that's gonna be awesome!

  • My friends and I drove the Pacific Coast Highway from LA to SF back in 2007 and you're right

    definitely a must-drive route!

one of the best road trips you'll ever have

  • That is nice maybe this year i might take my car on that road

  • Yup, a big ole black TA with a massive 455 and some BFG T/A'a would provide fun on this road. I sure hope you have a stick shift and not an automatic as that would diminish the fun.

  • wait, so what's this artist's name? I like this song, as well as the video. well, i like the video more. :)

  • My original music and audio on this was disabled by WMG so I got this from audio swap. At the very beginning of the video (now) they give the name of the artist and song. In addition to them disabling the music, they disabled my other audio where you could hear the Harley's passing.

  • It'll tell if you click on the statistics and data thing. It's by Colin Mutchler.

  • this is a bad drive in BC Canada. You would not believe the beauty here

  • I've been to BC, but only for a week in Vancouver. I wasn't aware that the PCH continued up through BC.

  • Rest assured the video does not do the drive justice but the Pacific Coast Highway has some areas with cliffs on the right going up into the mist and views to the left off a 400 foot cliff straight down to the Pacific Ocean.

I have been all over (and lived in) BC and yes it has some amazing drives, some equal in majesty and beauty to this drive, but the PCH going North before hitting Monterey took my breath away as much as anything in BC.

  • yeah i live in san luis and i used to camp in big sur. by far one of my favorite places

  • We stopped in san luis and had lunch in the hamburger place right by the docks. I forgot the name of the place but I inow I took pictures there of the sea lions laying there begging for food. Being an east coast boy myself, it was an experience.

  • if you drive it all the way up to big sur its really beautiful, its so cool

  • We drove from Santa Barbara up to San Lois Obispo (pardon spelling) on 101, then took Hwy 1 PCH up tom Monterery. Stunning drive.

  • Beautiful! Am going to do the same route, either in a car or on a bicycle, this June. Found your video very inspiring!

  • Thanks. Be really careful if you take a bicycle. I would use a motorcycle for the best experience but I didn't have one with me. Was still nice in the rental Sononta

  • beautiful,if i may say so?

  • One of America's most beautiful drives

  • That is too AWESOME for words!!!!!!!

  • I'd love to make the drive in a '67 Green Mustang!

  • it s charming watching the road where Darla Forrester of the bold and the beautiful died hit by her best friend s car :-):-)

  • I remember taking this trip about 5 years ago with my dad. Anything on the radio just feels natural taking this drive. We were listening to NPR and it felt right.

  • Yes it is a beatiful drive. This road was one I had on my must-drive list for a long time. I don't think we put anything on the radio as it was a rental without satellite. I have NPR on my Sirius which I often put on for awhile. Now I need to go drive the other half.

  • Thanks for the ride!

  • Great song to video... Enjoyed it thanks...

  • Thanks. I am glad you enjoyed the ride.

  • I also drove across the Golden Gate Bridge and saw Alcatraz. The bridge is no joke! I couldn't believe how huge it was until you see it and have to drive across it. I wound up in some valley trying to turn around and go back across the bridge and some how I wound up driving the Bay Area Bridge and got back on Highway 1 driving back up to Capitola. I wish I could convert my footage to post on here. I was listening to Wes Montgomery's "what's new" when I drove it. Thanks for posting!!

  • I've never been to San Francisco so I have never driven across the Golden Gate. I have been across the Verazano Narrows Bridge and the Brooklyn Bridge many times. Those long suspension bridges are something else.

  • I guess my first response didn't post. I did just what you said. I went to Capitola Ca. with my g/friend on business. The day she worked I took the rental and the gas Station clerk told me how to get to Highway 1. I'm from Chicago so I've never seen the ocean. We have the lakefront but it's not the same. U can imagine how awestruck I was when I cleared a bank of hills and there was the ocean. I see how people feel a spiritual connection. I was listening to Wes Montgomery. An unbelvable experienc

  • Seeing the ocean for the first time is an experience. I live near the Atlantic ocean so I see the beach often but the Pacific coast is just different. You pop on some good tunes, kick back and just cruise. I loved it.

  • Superb video with a great tune.

  • Thanks. One of my personal favorites, both the video and the song. You obviously have good taste in music.

  • I appreciate that. Enjoy your weekend.

  • Thanks for sharing.

  • GREAT!! Thanks.

  • Niiiice!
