I had bypass surgery jan 30 2004. I have lost 110 pds and in someways I would do it again but other times I would not. There are foods I can't eat anymore but for some reason alot of foods do not go down well. I would like to hear from anyone that has had the surgery.
I am looking into having the gastric sleeve surgery. I am looking at Howard University Hospital in Washington, DC. I have my first appointment on 4/23/10. I am hoping to be able to do a vlog myself at some point. Don't have a camera. :-(
I never feel bad about being the only sleever in the group. It is such an awesome surgery and now 6 months out there are finally a few more coming in to the group that will be having the sleeve. Many people have told me that they would prefer having the sleeve but their insurance won't cover it. I'm glad mine did.
I love your videos. Our support group meetings are so huge
I would like a smaller group though
I have a person who works with me who is doing well. He had the surgery prior to me. He is a year and a half out. He told me that when I was losing and gaining over the day that that is what normal people do. Hey, I guess I am normal now.
Good for you going to the support group. Glad everyone said they would do it again. Inspiration is good for the soul. Guys have a higher percentage of musculature, so it is easier for them to lose weight. I have been practicing not drinking with meals for months now. I hope that because of that, I am going be just fine with that after being banded. I think that some people will probably need to do the 5-6 smaller meals to keep blood sugar/insulin levels stable. Thanks for the video.
Very informative. Although I don't agree with the "grazing" rule, I've found that the only way I can get through the day is having about 5-6 meals (all of which are very, very small).
I've been told that Australia does smaller stomachs than America/Mexico, so maybe this is why? I simply can't eat enough in one sitting to last from "breakfast to lunch" (7am to 12pm) or "lunch to dinner" (12pm to 6pm).
I think that is a good point. Cuz if you are only getting 100-200 calories at a meal, then 300 - 500 calories a day isn't much for your body to operate on. I think it depends on the person and how much they can eat at one time. Thanks
That was great I wish there was a WLS support group near me. I love Youtube for that reason, theres always someone when you have a question.
BTW I would think that for the sleeve you should be able to eat at 8 weeks out. Getting protein only from shakes for six months sounds horrible. I would think as long as its cut and chewed small it would be fine.
Yah I can see them restricting red meat only. I ate red meat ground and it was great, I still havent eaten steak, Guess I'll wait till BBQ season, Just can't cook a good steak in a fry pan. It's gotta be against some religion somewhere.LOL
you sure are becoming a vlogger aren't you? lol. go you! I haven't made it to our support groups yet. so glad you attended yours! i really will try to start going to mine. sounds like you got a lot out of it. thanks so much for sharing.

The 6 months was for red meat only. I wasn't very clear on that. All other proteins were OK like fish and chicken before that.
