  • Vocal sounds like the guy from Screaming Trees...

  • After hearing this intro, i now know where Wino got his inspiration from...

  • Aah, those days when the Mulsanne straight really was a straight, and those Porsche 917 and Ferrari 512LM, flimsy aluminum tubs filled with gazoline and a driver, going 240 Mph,.. Oh this video is about the music? Sorry ;)

  • we thought louie was good back then, but looking back, he sucked.

    just ask his boyfriend, tony

  • THE TRUE.

    - Black Sabbath Album is of February 1970.

    - Kingdom Come Album is of December 1970.

    - Blue Cheer is Hard Stoner rock 68-70 and Psychedelic rock after 70.

  • @MAGALTMALDITABASURA Blue Cheer is also credited as being pioneers of heavy metal (their cover of "Summertime Blues" is sometimes cited as the first in the genre, doom metals roots and Sound started with bands like Shades of Darkness, Space Meat, respectively, Sir Lord Baltimore, The Koala, Blue Cheer, leslie west, frijid pink, Bang (U.S. Band) and Bedemon " pentagram "

  • One of the greatest solos ever.

  • great video + no top comment such "justin bieber made 6 accounts to dislike this video", "6 people are gay", "6 people play Neopets and watch Nickelodeon" nor "6 people think MC Hammer is real music". Wunderbar.

  • @gcavaresi but...now you have brought those very sentiments here, yourself? YOU BLEW IT!

  • @bklmsoul oh lord sorry

  • @gcavaresi

Thanks for throwing all that in there for us.

    Lord Baltimore...my new hero!

  • @gcavaresi How about six people are Black Sabbath?

  • "Shining wizards bring the rain, shooting out of the sun". Thats a fuckin' lyric.

  • Shining wizards bring the rain

  • yeah! thats great sound! I purchased the vinyl last saturday :D

  • I was born in 78 so I missed all of this. But I feel compelled to comment not only because the music is raw and amazing but because it's about the only type of video on youtube where the comments don't degenerate into mindless dribble. Awesome stuff.

  • Sir Lord Baltimore is so fucking heavy I still can't believe this shit came out when it did.

  • Lead singer what a voice. Lord Baltimore was one of the founding fathers of metal.

  • Blue Cheer+Sabbath+Baltimore

    <3

  • i born in the wrong age! shit

  • My uncle,John Garner's, band! Loved watching them practice back in the day in grandma's basement! Rock on!

  • Heavy as fuck.

  • crank this mother very load

  • As with a lot of 60's/early 70's proto-Metal, the less singing I hear the better. That big hairy falsetto vocal style is frikin' horrible. Because the band sound absolutely massive, they don't need the diva on top.

  • @HalSamuel

So, exactly what recordings have you released? If these guys were afraid of sounding strange, we wouldn't have this way out of the mainstream music, that now seems so avant-garde (look it up). Keep your day job, and don't try to become a music critic.

  • @krogers5858 Oh jesus here we go - Man leaves negative comment on band video, fan rails down abuse in response, internet argument ensues etc etc. I'm a big Proto-Metal fan in general, and I like Sir Lord Baltimore, I've just always had a problem with their singer, and so I used to comment box.. to make that comment. Isn't that the main purpose of the whole comment feature altogether? But still everybody acts like "How DARE you express an opinion that's different to mine!"

  • im gonna race my truck,what the fuck,it rymes,and i crank tunes

  • fuk the law they have betrayed the people, not cops but the corrupt gov

  • this fuks me nice tunes

  • I got this album in 1970, about the same time I got Black Sabbath, the true beginning of heavy metal rock, 1970.

  • dont disturb my peace, when i study to the mothers of rock.

  • \m/ >.< \m/

  • im so envious

  • i still have their album...on vinyl!!!

  • baby this rips me

  • man this is fucking gnarly

  • They remind me of the Pink Fairies

  • Sabbath and Baltimore crossed early in their careers, but only the Sabbath went ahead very successfully. And strange because Sir Lord Baltimore had a lot more music with heavy metal guitars IFSR damaging and a battery of sync. Strange to note the direction that each of these bands took after 1971. I love these bands.

  • I heard them in high school decades ago because of the out-of-norm tastes of my friends.

  • THIS BAND - IF IT'S NOT MY MISTAKE - WAS THE HEAVIEST BAND OF THE WORLD! AM I CORRECT! THANKS FOR THIS VIDEO, DUDE!! A GREAT ABRAÇO FROM A SOUTH BRAZILIAN ROCKER!

  • Donnelly great upload, mixing real rock and real cars is just brilliant, my car-o-holic disease appreciates it.

Do you know if the record is still available somewhere??

    Thanks and greeetings from Mexico

  • No feeling quite like going down the road, pushing close to triple digits in an International 9900, with this song blaring over the hum of that Cat motor. Damned if I wasn't born way too late.

  • there's only one proper term for this song: FUZZ ROCK!

  • Where can i download some of SLB's albums?

  • hahahah caveman metal! \m/ A good contemporary tribute band to Sabbath and Baltimore is The Sword. Guys should give them a try! :D

  • COOL!

  • hell yeea.. :D just got a re-release of the CD from 2003.. :D

    both LP's from the 70's.. :D

hahaha.. :D my day is made..:D

    its just frickin' awesome.!!! :D

    such a good band.

  • real music for real hardrockers

  • Truely one of the greatest hard rock songs ever made ! Turn the volume up to 11 !Too bad more music doesn`t sound like this !

  • I like it!!! Fantastic song!!!

    mdonnelly1971 thanks!

    \m/ \m/

  • the stooges were very metal like and the mc5 to a lesser degree. before ppl came up with labels like punk and metal alota bands were like in between cuz they werent tryna consciously tryna sound like a paticular genre

  • Beyond thats bad ass!

  • I bought Kingdom Come when it came out and still dig it.

  • Just as I did...

  • Super Kawałek. Proto Metal I FUZZ kurwa:P

  • Zajebisty kawałek.

  • This is a solid song throughout; it has pretty cool instrumentation and the guitar solo is nice at the end.

  • Seeing these guys AND Black Sabbath onstage in 1971 would've just been TOO MUCH! Man, any comments from someone who actually went to one of these shows?!?! If you're out there, PLEASE COMMENT!

  • Opening for Sabbath was actually not the best move they did as their lack of on-stage experience did more harm than good. They should have toured more, playing smaller gigs, developing their showmanship. Add an experienced good singer and they would have made it big.

  • I can comment brother...

my father lived in Queens at that time. his buddy said "we're going to see Black Sabbath" my father really didn't ask any questions and just said "ok"...my dad was thinking it was going to be a scary movie or something...he got there and was blown away...Baltimore was there too in full force...

  • @BEY0NDWARD: BEAUTIFUL MAN! Your dad got rocked that night, that's for sure! Good bands, good times! Thanks for replying!

  • see you around brother...

  • @BEY0NDWARD I love comments like this one. Not worthless arguing, but sharing stories of past experiences. Actually, I hate it... Because it makes me jealous that I was born in the wrong decade.

  • This is greater than all 3 fast & furious dogshit movies! Kick ass les mans racers with kick ass music!!

  • almost more metal than sabbath

  • Prototype metal.

  • it's stoner metal

  • The sound sure is, but I don't think when these guys where playing their music, they gave a damn what genre of metal they where.

  • nice. really, nice.

    great fucking band.

  • they do. also its the drummer who does the vocals, even more badass!

  • 0:01-0:25 Zeppelin style

    0:25 - 0:34 Sabbath Style Poetry :)

    And vocal very unique.

  • they kind of almost predate them....

i do not here zeppelin though

  • Such a fuckin monumental song! Really gritty and rough blues rock feeling.

  • Vocals... ugh.

    Dig that guitarplayer, though.

    He gets down !

  • Cactus combined this same New York "swagger" with a Detroit attitude.

  • adoro esta banda!!!! no se porque no fueron mas populares, su musica es maravillosa y anti-comercial que es lo mejor de todo

  • Man, proper metal and proper motorsports together...My two favorite things...

  • so nice and heavy

  • Sounds like a Gibson Eb3. This was the bass of choice for alot of late 60's early 70's bass players. Note -jack Bruce and felix papalardi. It was shaped like an Sg. It had that noticeable fuzz, Twang to it. It disapeared from the scene around '76

  • The bass playing makes me think of Budgie, the fuzz guitar reminds me of Frijid Pink, vocally--early Blue Oyster Cult (note the "New York sense of humor").

  • The term "heavy metal" was used the first time ever when a journalist wrote about this album in 1971.

I understand it. Still that fresh and unique. Amazing!

  • no it wasn't. it was used to describe Led Zepplin. I'm not saying that they are more deserving, but thats what happened. Sir Lord Baltimore kicks serious ass!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • the term heavy metal was used for the first time ever in the song born to be wild by steppenwolf!

but it wasnt really talking about a band or a genre so ur kinda half right!

  • Yeah, but this was the first documented use of the term to describe music. Well, that's what wikipedia says anyway.

  • Anyone noticed the badass wicked drumline?

  • This group is awesome i saw them with Black Sabbath in Long Island it was heavy duty.

  • Thanks for real music :)

  • For those who are searchin' new stuff...

Some of the membres of Sir Lord Baltimore and Blue Oyster Cult formed The Lizards [really fuckin' heavy rock] and in the second album they re-maked "Kingdom Come".

If you want to hear, i'll post in this weekend.

And the bass is through a Fuzz...[the other songs doesn't have the same bass distortion [or have in lighter effects...]

  • post some lizards

  • Is that the Bass run through a Fuzz pedal??

  • This might be the best sounding guitar I've ever heard! I think it just broke both of my legs and most of my ribs.

  • These guys are nuts!!!!!!!

    LOVE IT!

  • this song is awesome. too bad SLB is not better known.

  • Nice!

  • Nice work! The song is fantastic!

    Thanks friend!

  • HEY MAN! This is fantastic song! Sir Lord Baltimore is one of the best bands EVER! I'm soooo glad to see this video! Cheers, Actooon

  • I've always loved this band. Still own mint copies of the two albums released in the early 70's on vinyl. Their second album was self titled, and I own an ultra rare Dutch pressing that has an entirely different cover than it's US counterpart. It sounds much better too.

John Garner was great in 'The Lizards' also, and appeared on their first few albums released in the early - mid 2000's.

  • yup

  • Most underrated band. Indeed one of the greatest!

  • Holy crap, I've listened to this song so many times before and I just realized throughout the entire song John Garner is doing a solo on the tom-toms. And singing/howling at the same time. Awesome song!

  • You're in no place to question someone's literacy.

  • Spoken like a true retard.

  • What does making it big mean?

All along rock history the best bands have been the underground ones. If somebody considers Blue Cheer or SLB not big because they "didn't make it big", Then I agree: true retards.

  • This song would have been perfect if they wrote a bridge to it.

  • Finally figured out that vintage fuzz bass tone.

  • We were clued into these guys in NYC in 1970.They were great and very big on FM PLJ I believe which was THE station for NYC.We all bought their records and wore them out back then. It's amazing that hardly anyone knows who they are, along with Blue Cheer and MC5!!!!Yeah everyone... this is what rock really was all about. Not the CRAP we listen to today.RAW, Spontaneous and played with wild abandon.

  • I love blue cheer and SLB but I keep hearing about MC5,do they do that song 'kick out the jams'? I could never get into them.

  • Oh yeah...they sure do. Get the first disk. It's the best. Just keep listening. If you don't like it, listen to it again and again until you find something interesting in it.All music should be listened to this way.

  • You're exactly right...good music takes time to absorb....cant find SLB records anywhere.

  • toecutter: MC5 is more political and closer to proto-punk rock. They're like the Stooges or the Dolls or whatever. Cool but not an especially heavy metal band. My favorite MC5 disk is Back in the USA, which has almost no distortion.

  • @mdonnelly1971 if you think the stooges sound like the ny dolls ur high lol. the whole raw power album is heavy and metallic as SHIT ny dolls is like basic r&b rock n' roll

  • Wow never heard of this band was just browsing and found them and they are just amazing!!!

  • Everything about this video kicks ass! the old industrial muted colors, the grainy dark footage, the old school collegiate painted on numbers and the sodium arc sepia-toned headlights set to this heavy track speaks to a time long gone! I wish I was a teenager in this era.

  • Does anyone know where you can find the lyrics to this song? Post if you do.

  • I think I finally 'get' this band.

  • Oh yes! This bands' two albums need to be a part of any metalhead or classic rock fans' collection! I couldn't believe what I was hearing when I first bought the CD in late '05. I was already into all the other "heavies" of that era (you know 'em), but SLB was incredible! I have lead vocalist John Garner as a friend on my My Space profile and we agreeded together that SLB was just too eccentric for mass consumption in the early '70s.

  • I have the album that this song is from..is it the 1st or 2nd album??

  • This is the title track from the first album. The CD has sides one and two reversed because it was finally decided for the reissue that it sounded better that way. The same goes for the self titled second album.

  • I love this song!

  • OzzKing...: You know that Sir Lord Baltimore is a NYC band that opened for the almighty Black Sabbath on the Paranoid tour in 1970? Thought you might like that info. Thanks for taking notice of the great SLB.

  • @mdonnelly1971 I was at one of those concerts when they played at the Fillmore East. Very good and VERY loud!!
