@kateclay100 Sorry I was rambling on a bit there, but I honestly think that M did love him dearly as an artist and liked him as a person, but that MJ was very insecure and paranoid about what the world thinks of him, or what they "might" think. Maybe he interprets things differently as Madonna who is more hands on and to the point and he saw that as being too quick or insensitive. The thing is: Madonna is impatient, maybe he misinterpreted that. They're both such different personalities anyway.

Madonna is more like a marlene dietrich type of figure where she wants women to have their own voice and take their life in their hands and not be dominated by men + a lot of catholic themes she discussed by asking questions regarding racism - while MJ focused more on the joy of dance and celebration, youth and futuristic elements. He didn't seem as political and more about putting on a show of love and joy.

It's a huge difference when they put two females together and compare (like gaga vs Madonna lately) but Michael and M did their own thing and had their own very different audiences. Madonna's music is very different, one year it sounds very pop, the next it sounds more experimental with deeper ballads and house music. Michael usually stayed within his own genre, even their performances, albeit both epic and brilliant

He wrongly thought that other artists like M were jealous of him (M didn't care, she just did her music & too busy being a mother but he was very paranoid) that's why he said that.

There's a tape of that online too, she defended him when she talked to Matt Lauer. And not just a simple "we should support him" kind of thing, you can tell she cares for him a lot. Jackson's sisters (I believe LaToya) also said very good things about him and M :)

She said that karma will come back at that documentary maker and she was very, very supportive of Michael, even when many people including the interviewer disagreed.

@kateclay100 Sorry I was rambling on a bit there, but I honestly think that M did love him dearly as an artist and liked him as a person, but that MJ was very insecure and paranoid about what the world thinks of him, or what they "might" think. Maybe he interprets things differently as Madonna who is more hands on and to the point and he saw that as being too quick or insensitive. The thing is: Madonna is impatient, maybe he misinterpreted that. They're both such different personalities anyway.

Madonna is more like a marlene dietrich type of figure where she wants women to have their own voice and take their life in their hands and not be dominated by men + a lot of catholic themes she discussed by asking questions regarding racism - while MJ focused more on the joy of dance and celebration, youth and futuristic elements. He didn't seem as political and more about putting on a show of love and joy.

It's a huge difference when they put two females together and compare (like gaga vs Madonna lately) but Michael and M did their own thing and had their own very different audiences. Madonna's music is very different, one year it sounds very pop, the next it sounds more experimental with deeper ballads and house music. Michael usually stayed within his own genre, even their performances, albeit both epic and brilliant

He wouldn't even give interviews if people didnt call him King of Pop. He wrongly thought that other artists like M were jealous of him (M didn't care, she just did her music & too busy being a mother but he was very paranoid) that's why he said that.

@kateclay100 Actually he said that over 17 years ago, in 2003 Madonna defended him when everyone including his so called famous fans turned against him because of the Martin bashir documentary (or should I say mockumentary?). There's a tape of that online too, she defended him when she talked to Matt Lauer. And not just a simple "we should support him" kind of thing, you can tell she cares for him a lot. Jackson's sisters (I believe LaToya) also said very good things about him and M :)

Madonna was one of the few artists that was very protective of Michael Jackson in 2003 when that guy made that awful documentary about him. She said that karma will come back at that documentary maker and she was very, very supportive of Michael, even when many people including the interviewer disagreed.

The pic at 2:12 is such a rare one. Most people miss it, but that one took place in 1984 backstage at the Michael Jackson "Victory" concert. I'm sure at that time MJ had no idea that thrifty looking girl singing songs about virginity was going to be his rival. They ended up being the icons of our generation and have yet to be bested.
