  • This song sounds like it must be from Heaven... It's too beautiful to be real. Oh, to write music like this, sing, or even play it. So glad I can listen...

  • I first heard this in the film Jennifer 8, i loved it straight away, it took me a while to find out which classical composer wrote it. For me it is mind blowingly beautiful.

  • This is one of the most sophisticated, beautiful pieces of music ever composed. The silken smooth heavenly sound of the choir is absolutely superb. This is supreme excellence in music. This is probably the closest to the highest quality and perfection that one will ever come across in music....FANTASTIC!!!!

  • Was the theme for JAL air lines during the 60's

  • this was played at my aunts funeral

  • like something out of a dream.. absolutely beautiful <3

  • I too love this piece of music very much, and this version is one of the best I have heard.

Yes to me also, it sounds like " Bring him home" from Les Miserables.

  • If you are not moved by this style of music, your stone dead...

  • sends me to heaven every time i hear it, even though i dont beleive in heaven or hell

  • this song must be made in heaven

  • @0742847943 correct you must feel like me, thank god somebody like!!!!

  • Respond to this video... thank goodness some one likes it other than me ! ! x

  • This sounds a lot like "Baby mine" as made famous by the Dumbo movie.

  • this has to be the best piece of music ever written, no one will ever master this, it really is from the gods

  • Is it just me or do you think that the writers of Les Mis totally ripped this off for "bring him Home" That said I love both!!!!!

  • Unos bellos y serenos paisajes, como la hermosa música

  • I Was in Tesco's Forest Gate london looking for dumblings and got completly lost in its 3 aisles then from the ceiling came the faint but audible sound of the André Rieu, Humming chorus from Madame Butterfly I fainted 3 times and was resucicated by the diligent and Tesco bonus card carrying staff, I left the store happy and sublime but when I got home I had no DUMBLINGS only time expired Fish pie. Woke up with Stomache ache

  • @niceonemicky It was salmonella induced hallucinations.

  • Just got out of the COOP in Forest Gate E7 and they was playing this music it was great I know that the staff was the humming chorus but would they tell, would they BLOODY HELL!! any way It was so soothing I spent 3 days in there and spent £600 God I was so happy spending my money.

  • This was recorded by the staff of the Asda Stores in Stratford East London and since its recording all the staff have been placed in cold storage by its sister company Iceland they are due to be thawed out in 2012 in time for the Olympic games

  • Left me speechless. Thank you.

  • God on high....hear my prayer...that's all I can hear when I hear this amazing piece. Thanks Les Mis.

  • My favorite opera , quite the most beautiful music ever !!!! the last time I saw the opera in Liverpool there was hardly a dry eye in the house .

  • WONDERFUL!!!!!

  • I just love this.

  • Wonderful!

  • screw the"like" button. where is the "most beautiful thing I ever heard, love this" button????

  • @parodycreator25

  • Absolutely gorgeous, gorgeous piece. Breaks my heart every time- I love this opera so much. I have to say though, this particular edition with the violin being played over the voices at 1:27 sounds awful. Much more beautiful when it's just voices, or when the violin isn't as loud.

  • It's not beautiful: it's awesome. Awesome according to the original meaning of the term. It fills you with owe, tragedy and hope, and the same time. It must me understand in the context of Madame Butterfly's tragic existance.

  • After seeing Heavenly Creatures, I will never be able to listen to this piece the same way again.

  • Of course, this music has inspired many composers. The most beautiful thing ever written

  • ogni commento è inutile.......è un coro che ha del "divino"

  • I AM in Appreciation.

  • Incredible piece of Music - Would tear your heart strings apart - But I just love it ! ... Inspirational ... Thank you so much for a lovely video too ! xxx <3 <3 <3

  • More than beautifull, i got inlove of this, the places are more than beautifull

  • I just read comments on an orchestral version of this which was supposedly marred by some poor chap coughing, the comentor wished him death from his TB. I think he missed the point of this beautiful music

  • No existen palabras para describir la belleza de esta música. De sus coros. Me relaja, me hace olvidar todo lo que me rodea. Gracias.

  • Ghastly saccharine drivel. Sugar on cream on sugar. Yeeeeeuuuuuuuccchhhh

  • @tatboi1 Are you familiar with the opera? Puccini based it on a newspaper account of an American naval officer who returned to Japan with his American bride to take from his former Japanese lover the son she bore him. Butterfly stays up all night in her garden thinking of her reunion with her lover, who has never seen his son. Little does she know what awaits her in the morning. The Humming Chorus is background music while she reminisces. The music is not saccharine. It is heartbreaking.

  • maravilolso!!!!

  • Never mind supermarkets, just close your eyes & visualise & try to imagine what YOU want to . We are stronger minded than any store right? ok maybe not but don't let them get you down. I don't like it when old movie clips or gorgeous music is used either but hey! It can bring new things into your life which otherwise you may not have known. This is a truely stunningly beautiful masterpiece by the unbelievable talent of the master himself. PUCCINI. My mother loved this too. thank you mumx

  • @dianelady52 I cannot walk past an Asda store now without being drawn into the shop to the haunting melodies of The Humming Chorus, I just go weak at the kness and shop till I drop

  • @niceonemicky I know what you mean. My kness go weak too. But seriously, I hope you get your own copy of this piece. There is a CD titled "The Only Chorus CD You'll Ever Need" or something similar that has a stunning version of this music.

  • @libertasdon the cd you are talking about is it available in USA? how can I get it? thanks!!

  • @coconegr Google the title, "The Only Choral CD You Will Ever Need," and look for the link that repeats the title exactly, It will take you to the CD for sale on Amazon.com -- much cheaper than I paid. Another great choral album is "Hymns Triumphant" also available on Amazon. I am particularly fond of the disc's version of "Just As I Am." But both CD's have many great choral pieces.

  • Une pure merveille!

  • Une pure merveille!

  • This was my dad's final song at his funeral. I listen to this every day dad on my commute to work and feel so much closer to you, I am sorry we never got to say goodbye. I miss you and love you always xx until we meet again to the sound of the Humming Chorus

    Sonia xx

  • @1197sonia May he walk in the shadow of his God

  • @1197sonia Don't think your Dad will be reading the comments section of youtube.

  • @blomfield1 : Nice one! Lovely comment to direct at someone who's bereaved.

  • @MaxTallon it was tongue in cheek and not meant to be offensive, it is not my nature as a Buddhist to annoy people.

  • @1197sonia I´m sure he knows. Don´t worry. Just keep listening to the music.

  • @1197sonia it was my nans final song too :'(

  • @1197sonia how are you love, hope you are well and striving on, Micky East London.

  • @1197sonia This was played at both my Mum and my Dads funerals, it was one of their favourite pieces of music, and I absultely love it..x

  • Beautiful arrangement...

  • spectacular.I have been enchanted by the this so soooothing chimes.

  • spectacular.

  • I am melting, this is too beautiful!

  • Oro Plata Mata directed by Peque Gallega. The chorus is used throughout the movie. This is presently my favorite movie.

  • Splendida interpretazione!

    Grande Maestro Rieu !

Grazie per il post davvero magnifico; pieni voti 5*****

  • The modulation at 1.27 gets me every time

  • @mattthedream I hear you! My favorite moment of this opera absolutely!

  • Sublime! Digna melodia.

  • does any one know if this music was played at the final flying scene in spitfire ace?

  • I think that Asda chose this tune because it makes you feel relaxed and you will buy more which is brilliant marketing! when it is played on tv the thing that enters your mind is ASDA I dont think if you asked anyone they would say " OH yes it is the Humming Chorus from Madam Butterfly; by Andre Rieu" most people know it only as the Asda tune! If you like Madam Butterfly Try downloading JOAN HAMMOND singing One Fine Day, you will not hear a more beautiful version, forget Kanawa, Callas callas

  • @1scorp1o1 Speak for yourself. My mother was rabbiting on about this tune, forgetting that I watch very little TV indeed, and almost zero that has adverts. All I hear and think of is sublimely beautiful music. I agree it's clever to use it in advertising, much as Waitrose did several years ago with a piece from Libera. Or BA using "Songs from the Auvergne". Or Old Spice using "O Fortuna" from Orff's Carmina Burana. Or Hovis using a brass version of a tune from the Dvorak 9th Symphony.

  • @Limpandtotheleft I will bow to your superior knowledge and inteligence. Although I fail to see what your point is!!

  • three little words? I. love. this.

i get goosebumps each time i hear it. amazing. beautiful. heavenly.

    kay, i'll stop now. :)

  • thank you thank you asda brillant

  • wow! wow! wow! Music like this must come from heaven!

  • @MrRiaanvs Since you like this music which I am sure was Divinely inspired-check out the girl genius Akiane you can see her on You Tube or Akiane.com she is in the same class I believe as Michaelangel etc.

  • @MrRiaanvs Your comment is prescient. In the Humming Chorus, Puccini gave us forever the heartbreaking melody of an innocent lover's reverie about to be destroyed by the perfidity of her partner.

  • i find this piece so moving... brings tears to my eyes!!

  • @alilondonmet It comes from ASDA super Store Staff all singing and all dancing at the Walton on Thames branch, Enjoy.

  • My God. The modulation at 1.30 is so unexpected, and resolves so beautifully...Stunned.

  • Excellent piece of music

  • Thank you Asda for introducing me to this beautiful piece of music - amazing that TV adverts can give us more than their products

  • Such an amazing piece of music... used in an ad for Asda... <- blasphemy!

  • Thank you Asdo for introducing me to this briliant piece of music - amazing that you can learn so much from an Asda advert - Puccini - Madame Butterfly - Thank you Asda!

  • A Masterpiece!

  • @ShayCurran This was made by the voluntary weekend staff of ASDA in Stratford East London.

  • stunningly beautiful

  • I agree with HGW12

  • there are simply no words that can describe this musical masterpiece

  • NAME THE MOVIES THIS SONG HAS BEEN PLAYED IN:

    1 Heavenly Creatures (death scene)

    2. do you know anymore?????? There must be more!

  • @Pentdad It was used in Bronson.

  • Beautiful piece of music ,currently being used by ina advert by Asda

  • Ok if i had to come down off my fence and decide , Shame on you Asda for using this beautiful piece of music in your advert.

    Bob

  • FUCK ASDA Wallmart bastards who fuck there own staff over!!!!

  • one fo my favourites

  • i love this itsmadame butterfly the humming chorus and asdas ad tune

  • I have always loved this poece of music and it moves me to tears.

I dissagree with people saying it shouldn't be used on the asda advert, it is bringing beautiful music to people who wouldn't normally listen to it. My 2 youngest children stop playing and listen every time the ad comes on tv now and they really like it. I know it's not nice being associated with a supermarket but it's nicely done in slow motion and balck and white.!!

  • @iluvgeorgiem Well sais , a most beautiful peice of music, if asda didnt play it for there add then fewer people would be able to enjoy such a lovely peice.. :)....

  • beautiful

  • An absolutely thrilling piece from the Great Andre Rieu, and equally so the moving spine tingling voice of the Chorale, any idea of the name of the Chorale. Thankyou for the post and thankyou ASDA in the UK for using it in the recent advert

  • @Richpete001 And an absolutely fantastic compilation of pictures and scenes used to portray this music. MAGIC!

  • @Richpete001

Actually I was thinking of writing to Asda to complain, everytime the advert comes on tv I have to turn the volume down. Its such a beautiful piece of music, I don't want to be reminded of a bloody supermarket everytime i play it. Puccini must be turning in in his grave.

  • @jakks2 Thankyou for your reply, why does every business have to use a classic piece or any piece of music to ply their wares, can't they use their own imagination for once. Incidentally, any music that is aired like this, the user has to pay royalties, thats good considering Puccini is dead, incidentally, try looking on the other threads that follow this.

Andre, is such a brilliant artist. I don't know your leaning on this type of music, but enjoy anyway

  • @Richpete001 Yes companies should use their imagination. I am glad that Puccinis family are getting royalties. The only good thing about the advert is that it is getting puccinis music out there to people who would'nt normally listen to classical music, He is unique. The same as Andre Rieu, he is amazing I would love to go to one of his concerts.

  • @jakks2 Puccinis family should get absolutly nothing. Royalties should end when a guy dies not be given to ungrateful children.

  • @jakks2 :)

  • this is by far the best for relaxing and gathering your thoughts, life and time just floats by BRAVO BRAVO

  • it gets in your head this tune just love it .

  • this is played on the new asda advert! beautiful

  • goosebumps!! allover!!

  • Hearing this, I thought I was in heaven.

  • Beautiful music, beautiful pictures... Thank you :)

  • this could morph into "little drummer boy" in a musical comedy presentation

  • I love the imagery you have put to this beautiful piece

  • forgot how lovely this is til I heard it on Holby tonight

Always and only for you XXXXXXXXXXXXXX

  • Is it my imagination, or does this sound like the inspiration for Bring Him Home from Les Miserables?

  • @sparkytime

I can hear what you mean. 'Bring him home' always makes me cry.

But most composers are plagiarists to some degree.

The video is simply stunning. Gorgeous pictures.

  • Oooooh yes I see where your comming from. It does.

  • @sparkytime does to me... you cannot get enough of it though.!

  • @sparkytime You can hear well! Both song use similar (for some notes the same) main themes.

  • Describes the beauty in nature that words cannot.

  • This chorus "a bocca chiusa" describes the sleep of Suzuki and Butterfly's child... And the last night of Butterfly alive... She doesn't sleep awaiting for her beloved.

  • una preghiera della natura agli uomini

  • Must be the voice of God.

This version by 'Andre Rieu' is probably the best that I have ever heard.

This and 'Concierto De Aranjuez by Manuel and The Music of The Mountains' are among my favourite tracks.

    Thanks for posting this.

    5 stars

  • simply gorgeous.

  • God bless Don Giacomo. May God have him in da Heaven for glorious performances like this here.

  • La musica es el lenguaje divino y universal de la humanidad, donde las palabras carecen de sentido, ya que no pueden expresar los sentimientos de nuestra alma tal como lo expresa la musica, y este coro es una gran muestra de ello.

    Gracias Maestro.

  • merveilleux.beaux paysage .misique divine.made andre rieux

  • it's perfect.. feel like touching the sky.

  • Nada mas hermoso para nuestro tiempo que este hermosisimo video de relajacion y elevacion donde sin duda recordamos al Maestro Giacomo Pussini. Para descansar en alma y espiritu. De un Mexicano de Mexico.
