I have to say.....and I am an Ex-JW......that calling them "Jehovahs" is incorrect. Since Jehovah is the name of God and they call themselves Witnesses of Jehovah. So the correct term would be Witnesses. I know that sounds picky but if you are hoping to help people to not join them, they will be able to say that you got that wrong.

Also it is actually prescribed in the scriptures to pray for one another and that the prayers of a righteous person are powerful (James 5:16). Now if you say the people in heaven cant hear our prayers then explain for me the Transfiguration (Matt 17:1-9, Mark 9:2-8 and Luke 9:28-36 also Revelation 8:3-4 amongst many others). Also the Church teaches that salvation is through Jesus only, asking people in heaven or on earth to pray for us is a different topic then justification (how one is saved).

This is for tonglongkid. If you read Luke 1:28, 42-43, 48 you will see the 1st half of the Hail Mary. Mary is deemed favored before God, Blessed Amongst Women, The Mother of the Lord, and that all generations will call her Blessed. If you know Catholic beliefs Mary is not God, she is the Mother of God (2nd person of the trinity in the flesh). Catholics do not worship her, we honor her because by her free will she said yes to God's plan and brought the savior into the world.

The Hail from the angel in Luke 1:28 was purely a salutation nothing else. And if you use this as a form of prayer to her then you sin. Plus the fact that you guys use vain repetitions saying these hail Mary's over and over which Jesus categorically told you not to do. Matthew 6:7 But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen [do]: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.

I am not a J witness never have been. And I suggest you find me just one scripture to back up all this praying to Mary and those many repetitions of those hail Mary's you guys do. Plus this bowing in front of statues is classed as idolatry. I could go on and on with the things Catholics practice that God the Father and Jesus told you not to do and you still do. No ones perfect and we have all broken Gods law but I'm talking about doctrine now. So you may find that your lost. COME WITH SCRIPTURE.

You are told not to do it full stop. Jesus and only Jesus has the power to respond to pray FULL STOP so why you would want to pray to anyone/thing else is completely a wast of time. Plus there is no scripture for it. It's a Roman practice that they blended into their version of Christianity. If you find me one SCRIPTURE that says pray to the saints or Mary then I will have to admit that it is from GOD and not made up by the ROMAN POPES and their mates. GOOD DAY!!!!!!!!!

@saleta In Revelation 4:11 it says Jehovah God is worthy to receive praise, glory, honor because HE created everything. No one else deserves this much honor. We do honor His Son, Jesus Christ as secondary. He is now king in heaven.

It does not matter if you think that Mary is in Heaven with Christ or not. John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way *, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. Jesus never told anyone to pray to anyone else while he was here or when he went away nor did Mary. This is a false Roman doctrine. There's only one bridge/doorway to the Father and that's Jesus. So you waste your time praying to Mary.

JWs once knocked here and my mom invited them to come when I was home. I actually had two of my friends also come over and we sat down talking to them - of course, I prepared using my Bible also. Anyhow, after an hour, the JWs wanted to leave, but I managed to have them stay for a discussion that took another hour. Before leaving, I gave one of them (ex-Catholic) a pamphlet about finding the way back home. They have never bothered us again eversince...

boganlewis... I give you a lot of credit! I'm a lapsed Catholic who dated a non-practising Witness. Even though he left the congregation 5 years ago, he's still somewhat "brainwashed." But, in fairness, I still cling to what he would call, "idolatry" (ie. rosary beads, holy medals, dashboard saints... etc.) So, I really understand the dynamics of strong religious influences.
