  • Way to impress women :DDD Stef kicks ass!

  • amazing drummer,,, ive always wondered why he never puts any blastbeats in textures songs.... i bet he could make them sound so clean and good

  • @opticon6 He doens't use too much blastbeats in Textures... because blast beats are WAY to overused in metal sometimes. In some bands, it will fit perfectly. Like Scarve. ( Luminiferous ), but Textures is one of those bands that doesn't need any.

  • I like how the girl is watching his feet. She's like "what the fuck going on down there? To fast to be real.."

  • i saw 52 likes and 2 dislikes...those 2 guys can shove up their drum stick up their ass!

    PERIOD.

  • FUTURE BREED MACHINE

  • That riff the girl plays at 0:32 is amazing

  • lol @ all the comments saying they sound like certain songs.

  • What the f..k she's looking at? .....Does he play with his third foot?

  • 0:25 sounds like future breed machine and on 0:49 it sounds like Bleed but whatever man, i love textures and meshuggah...go stef

  • @bindoy Meshuggah is my favorite band, but that part of future breed machine is a generic double bass hi hat beat, you can't say stef is copying that. 0:49 is just fast double bass.

  • @CoolCoverBro

just to clear things up, i didn't say he was "copying" it, i said the pattern "sounds" like it,

copying and sounding-like are two different things.

i only stated what the patterns reminded me of, im not discrediting broks' skills

    i dig his drumming man.

  • @ Necrofellatio

That is such an awesome comment! xD But you totaly right! Stef is amazing!

    greez

  • Stef is God in Human form

  • throws in Laments of an Icarus for a sec :P

Its awsome how he goes duhduhduhduhduhduhduhduhdrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

  • @6crimson6 Huh? He didn't play Laments of an Icarus in this clip.

  • @MikePostDrums @ 0:48 Just sounds a lil like it.. Like I said, Just for a sec. Nevermind..

  • @6crimson6 No, you're mistaken. You're probably thinking of Old Days Born Anew, bro. :)

  • @MikePostDrums Nah man.. This is pointless but still. The weird thing he does where the ride's off during the intro of Laments.. Its kinda like that. But here he does it with the Hi hat. JUST for a sec. Yea ok its ridiculous.

  • @6crimson6 Hah, you're just referring to cymbals then? Either way, I don't get it, but no problem. :)

  • @MikePostDrums Hahaha XD Such a pointless discussion. BUT! I realised that YOUR the guy who put up the Outro of The Art of Dying Rereversed or unreversed or whatever. Man.. Esoteric surgery clean is just angelic as fuck and your post helped me disover myself or whatever..:P Fucking awsome.. Though this ofcourse is the wrong place to say this :/ (late-realization indeed :P ) (-_-)

    Later mate.

  • @MikePostDrums And usually discussions like this turn nasty :P Testosterone fueled stuck up fucks love arguing over the internet about Joey Jordison, Mahatma Ghandi, and Ronald from McDonalds on the same page :|

  • @6crimson6 Hah, I don't argue on YouTube. I just swear, then leave.

  • awesome! he plays future breed machine and bleed parts in this video! and why is his hihat on the wrong side?

  • @drummergod522 The video is either flipped @ vertical axis *or* he's playing open-handed in this video. He's a lefty.

  • 0:32

the pretty lady gets temporary air-guitar fits

  • he is amazing, got a lesson from him @ DrumDrieDaagse...great guy, great playing!

  • I swear Stef is like Thomas Haake and Sean Reinert tossed into one lanky pile of awesome.

  • hij is zooo goed!!

  • vette beat!!!

  • Dit is echt mooi.

    Heb Handtekening van :D

  • meshuggah- future breed machine!

  • Vet Cool Man!

  • textures drummer !!! the best metal band

  • nice chick

  • Dude, INSANE!!!!

  • the guy in with da cap wants him tp play the part from meshuggahs future breed maschine... lol

  • That girl thinks at 0:44:

    "Mh... nice and tight ass!"

    xD

  • i am trying to play that pattern but i dont know the exact pattern.

can i find it somewhere or can anyone explain the pattern? in dutch is also cool;)

stef if you read this i think you are a really innovative technical drummer! i was on the clinic in drumstation, eindhoven.

  • chick was digging him =P

  • furious bass drum patterns !

  • Excellent drummer, Textures is good stuff.

  • It gets shit hot around 26 seconds and onwards. Fuck that sounds awesome!

  • This drummer is one of the fucking best out there!!! You are great!

  • absolutely cooool drummer :)

  • erg hoor stef

  • Hahahaha, dude, if you listen he plays a snippet of Future Breed Machine about halfway.

  • Yeah, like maybe the most famous Meshuggah pattern ever.^^

  • and i think it's meshuggah - bleed in the end for a second

  • This video was added may '07, Obzen is from march '08, so frankly, that's impossible^^.

  • I discovered that the same drum riff was in one of Textures song, but i don't remember. I think it was from Drawing Circles album

  • Yeah in a way the rythm itself isn't that special. I've heard multiple bands use it. But it's the way with which Meshuggah combined it with other rythms which is unique. Especially the strong focus on that particulary rythm isn't done that much. But yeah Textures probably used it as well though not in the way like Meshuggah has with bleed.

  • this was way before the obzen came out... it was not bleed at the end

  • The pattern I use at the end IS the same pattern used in Bleed. Funny fact is that we (Textures) used the same double-bass/ guitarpattern in our song Old Days Born Anew from album Silhouettes. The album was released in the same month as Obzen and recorded the same month as Obzen. I was practicing this pattern also for a long time. Kinda bizar.

  • I had chat a about this with Thomas Haake about this funny coincidence last summer in 013, Tilburg, Holland for Slagwerkkrant Magazine. He admitted the pattern itself is nothing special because it was used before lots of times, but of course not in the way our bands play it. And of course the Meshuggeners play it somewhat faster and with a lot of weird twists. Respect to Thomas.

  • yeah its just a herta pattern. the thing is he plays it with his feet in 32nd notes. meaning cramping is iminent and crapping yourself when you hear it for the first time is assured

  • ja ik hoorde bleed iets eerder dan old days born anew en hoorde het patroon, bedacht me idd dat het toeval was.

  • Broks / Haake pick your poison. Suck a bag of dicks if you think drummers like this are not a dime a dozen. Textures are awesome and a fresh band that def deserves a hard listen if like Meshuggah. Influence aside Textures crushes.

  • Big smile.

  • Nice, wat zijn die 1e twee voor rolls?

    gewoon doubles met accenten? of......

  • I met Stef when we were teenagers and we botht worked in summerholidays in a factory. He's still a friend. Huge sense of humor!!! Everytime we meet, we imitate "ome henk".. download it ;)

  • great! nice to see they have influence of meshuggah!

  • future breed machine!!

  • lol at that guy nodding his head :)stef is shit hot beastmaster!.

  • whos this blond chic? xD

  • Stef Broks wat een roeler!

  • listen to textures (his band)...you cant use a metronome there:P cause its wierd shit. but he's the master

  • "listen to textures (his band)...you cant use a metronome there:P cause its wierd shit. but he's the master"... Lol... it's precisely cuz he worked much with a metronome that he's a master. Metronome work applies to any kind of metric music, especially this one. I would rather say "You must use a metronome here", else you'll never understand how these patterns "work"

  • dhtboot, you can use a metronome for polyrhythms as well as you can use them with 'regular' rhythms.

  • Stef is de king. Rulen.

  • You need to work with a metronome!

  • Bet he's way better then you...

  • I'm not a drummer :P

  • looool!have you ever heard textures??"You need to work with a metronome!"loool...

  • i know everyone needs a metronome, but you said that like he was out of the timing.he is one of the greatest drummers in metal today

  • lol

  • He IS the metronome.

  • listen to textures, talk after you listen to them

  • I've not heard "textures" and i dont care about it BAH!! BAH!! BAH !!!! however im talking about this video not the fucking "textures" group!

  • Your comment about Stef saying he needs to work with a metronome made me spit out my coffee. No offence, but that's retarded. The moment Stef is out of timing, the universe shall collapse.

  • hahahaahha i agree

  • He rocks!

  • Stef Broks is de meester! Samen met arien van Weesenbeek de beste metaldrummer van Nederland!

  • Yay, Future Breed Machine :)

IM IN UR COMENTZ WISHING MOAR TEXTURZ

  • Stef rules! and that medley of Sol Niger Within is awesome. Chus
