It's nice to see a South African video on this topic - I became vegan while studying in Europe and my family back home don't think that this kind of animal abuse happens in SA.. The thing is, any animal product we buy in a supermarket was made with profit in mind, compassion doesn't have a say. People need to make the connection that eating animal products causes so much unnecessary suffering. Go vegan - for people, the planet and the animals!!
no way humans are made to eat meat just that we are learnt to eat meat. ignorance and cruelty is rife. we live in a society that thinks killing is the norm/ wtf
@tasios777 You stupid city slicker sissie what makes you the judge of what I eat besides if you ever raised chickens (not in a factory) you start realizing chickens are stupid, filthy, are very vulnerable, sleep in their own filth and eat anything that looks appetizing (almost every plant in the chicken run). I am not saying chickens are bad what am saying is that their seems to indicate that were made to produce food

I'm surprised this video hasn't gotten more views and comments. I shared it with my friends and hope that we can start to make a difference. People should know the cruelty that living beings go thru to become our next meal. Someone once said: "Humans aren't the only species on the planet, we just act like we are". Let's start being more choosey where our food comes from and write your state officials about this. We've got to start somewhere.
@HighPlainsWoman look you don't seem to know much about word roots all species means is appearance so you seem to be accusing me of not believing in trees, bushes, ferns, pigs, deer, geese, etc. which is a bold statement to make and judging by the way you wrote you comment you seem to be in favor of nature and if you look throughout history you will notice humans are dominant and productive by nature. BOOM PHILOSIPHY BLAST. bye
@valstar1000 Since I made this comment 2 yrs ago I didn't even know who you were or what you were babbling about when your comment came to my email inbox. Still not sure what you're trying to say as your sentence structure leaves a lot to be desired. All I was saying is that we don't need to raise animals in such a cruel fashion.
It is astonishing how many people do not know, or choose to ignore, the suffering that farm animals (or more specifically, factory farmed animals) are put through. If that had been someone's dog, cat, or pet parrot, many would see it as cruel (there would probably be an uproar.) All animals should be treated with respect- a factor which is obviously neglected in this case as well as far too many other instances.
I support withdrawal from cruel diets, but is it so astonishing what people choose to ignore in terms of animal cruelty, when you look at what people not so much *choose to ignore* but rather are too traumatized to acknowledge in the cruelty they have and are facing themselves?
Human infants have electrodes screwed into their scalps BEFORE they are born.
And then there is war, Abu Ghraib, and the policies of our gov't in things like the Indonesian massacres, School of the Americas, etc.

Poor chickies. The only part of their life that is normal is when they hatch but before they fall on the wire grate.

So you're saying that it's okay to eat meat as long as it's free range?
Bullshit.
