I'm sorry, I would love if MMPPP was dubbed but if so I would let VIZ or FUNimation have it. I saw previes to the actual dubbing and when I heard Rina's voice I was about to punch my computer. And plus, they changed all the songs to English.... with CRAPPY lyrics.. TT^TT

except yu-gi-oh for a very very long time if ever. But unfortunately no one has the rights to MMPPP in the states. I really wanted to see this dub but of course it never came out. But it will have to make its way over here eventually.

Oh you people, read the manga. It's ten times better than the anime (which is only enjoyable because of the catschy songs) and is translated in English. At this point I don't believe MMPPP will get an English version aired...

Why does everyone think the english version is so good. The fact that they steal the show, use voices that are way off, and mess around with the songs changing the lyrics. It ticks me off. I like japanesse version better.

You obviously don't know the dubbing process. The professional companies don't "steal" it. They have to buy the rights to it(Average to buy rights is about $10,000 an episode for most anime) and a lot of dubbers get the Japanese creators permission for the voices chosen, which means you can't chose without going through them first. And lyrics have to be changed. Singing a straight translation NEVER fits with the music.

@HikaYagami I think i read the reason it was never released had to do with the songs. As the rights for songs are totally separate from the rights to an episode. Its why the italian dub has original music lol

Actually the reason why ADV couldn't release it was because they couldn't get it on TV. Kid shows like this needs a TV deal(with merchandise and such) to be successful and no channel these days wants anime, especially a girly one(which gets me mad XD).

Then ADV went belly-up and now it's all basically in the air. It's a shame since most magical girl shows don't get much respect here and end up in licensing limbo thanks to it(like Sailor Moon and Tokyo Mew Mew for example).

Dont get me wrong, im not one of those people who just blindly hates dubs, i enjoy most dubs of animes i first watch in kapanese, but it annoys me when things are changed to be western or dumbed down for kids. I don't really mind small edits made for TV as long as the original story remains intact(and having uncut DVD versions too XD). It's a hard thing to admit but making kid shows a little more western does usually sell better for the target audience(Pokemon being an example).

I'm sure that most today that prefer uncut stuff started getting into anime with a TV edited dub. For most girls, it was Sailor Moon. For me it was Digimon XD.

ADV Films acquired the license to dub the show in June 2004 but it didnt becuz they had trouble finding a TV airing deal.

As of this year,2009, TV Aichi has the complete english dub of Mermaid Melody and so far no one has re-licensed it.

Clan tve used the adv english dub to translate into spanish that is why they have the english opening theme on their website and some commercials, rather than translating directly from japanese to spanish.
