  • I see one of the 121 class locos sticking its nose out of the shed in the background. Great memories. See my vid of 113 accelerating out of Drogheda in 1995. Great stuff.

    yes if I remember rightly it was an Ireland v another team can't remember who international rugby match.

    plus there was 3 other specials 9 car dmu's etc

  • What a lovely clip, and many happy memories! I rode in the cab of 112 from Belfast to Dublin and back on 1st April 1986, an experience permanently etched in my memory.

    How is it that one of these beasts on load 12 could make a timing of 2 hr 17 with four stops in 1995 (have just checked in an old timetable), whereas the current comparable schedule is 2 hrs 5 mins with a shorter rake and 1,000 extra horse power on tap? Back then a lot of the track was still in a shocking state as well.
