---all about the minute you targeted innocent people ( children ) people are getting tired of your occupy and harassment it won't be long now that private citizens are going to start defending themselves .
--- vetoed the Keystone pipeline that cost this country over 20,000 jobs and millions of barrels of Oil so he can play politics in the middle east funny how your not protesting that, No let's protest against other private citizens and terrorize them because they worked hard and made money this movement is a joke nothing more than Lazy thugs with no drive to succeed , now your targeting Catholic school girls and clergy what's next? The whole world saw on the news what the occupy movement is----
What's this got to do with attacking Catholic school girls and Clergy? Or private citizens that are trying to provide for their families? Shouldn't you be occupying the cause? The White House, Senate and the congress there the reason for this country's decline , Obama has incurred 4.5 Trillion dollars of dept in 3 years funny your not saying anything about that or that this government has cost the people of this country jobs by sending those jobs overseas for political gain or Obama just ----
Oh my goodness. The point of this "occupy" nonsense, is ridiculous. If any one of you wanted more out of your life, it's totally possible to get it. I hate to say it, but you young kids, or ignorant adults make me wonder where your parents went wrong. Perhaps it was lack of money right? Social inequality and all that "I want something for nothing," nonsense.
oh look, another sheep who defends the bankers. I guess you don't realize that WE the taxpayers were robbed, our money went to bail out failing companies. You enjoy being robbed, eh?
@PatriotsDomain Cute. Being ROBBED. What a joke. These people want to go up against corporate America, while sipping latte's from Starbucks, Talking on their "smart phones" and wearing name brand clothes. Hypocrite much? The ideal was probably good at the beginning, but now it's just a bunch of people complaining about wanting things for nothing. Typical of the lazy American. ;)
so what you're saying is they should wear rags, not drink coffee, and use smoke signals to get their message out? You're a typical American, and that is no compliment.
What the hell is wrong with all of you. You want to be rich? Work for it. Very few people in this country have been handed everything, and those that do, don't hang on to that wealth for very long. Fact is that most wealthy people have worked themselves into the ground obtaining what they have.
@kjbigslim And no one is denying that working hard is the best way to accumulate monetary value. However, taking advantage of people in impoverished circumstances and evading taxes cannot possibly considered "working hard". And that is what a lot of wealthier companies have a bad habit of doing...
@Alyss93 Please explain how these corporations have taken advantage of you, or any "impoverished" person. I don't understand the logic behind all this. I'll tell you what, you convince me that the actions of these companies have made my life harder, and I'll join your cause. I am by no means wealthy. I have a job where I make $12 an hour for 5 months out of the year. I see no connection between me and the wealthiest of this country. Please be specific and educated in your argument.
@kjbigslim If this video wasn't specific and educated enough for you, then you are a hopeless idealist. Yeah, right, all the corporations in the US gained their wealth by honest hard work
@kjbigslim i would agree...usually. but in modern times, that's not the case. you're better off being an unintelligent rich white kid in the US, than a really smart, lower class child. My whole family, we're the top 1%, and i always thought stuff like what you said is true...but it's not anymore. All of my family went to college, but made average grades and they're all rich from my granpa's businesses.(All international)i like being wealthy, but im beginning to see that most rich, don't earn it.
@0FRED0is0DEAD0 are you saying you are an unintelligent rich white kid that graduated from college? intelligent low class people won't stay low class forever. I'm willing to bet either your grandpa or his father were dirt poor. They worked hard. They studied hard, and they passed their monetary wealth and knowledge on to you. Consider it a gift.
@0FRED0is0DEAD0 wealth doesn't come without a price. If you are wealthy, and you don't feel you deserve it, it's because somebody paid that price for you. Somebody, like your grandpa, wanted his children and grandchildren to have more than he had. My father wants me to have more than he had. He has given me more than he had, I plan on giving my kids more than I will ever have. There is nothing wrong with this. Use what you have to help others out, or don't. Your choice.
@kjbigslim oh i agree sir, but i'm saying that my family makes (i know this sounds crazy) too much, and our employees get dirt, and they know that. i just worry, because i think some of my family members in high school don't even try because they know after college, they'll be set for life, you know? But i see your point.
i wanted to see what it was all about..but dont you think not buying into the corporations is a better idea than just holding up a bunch of signs chanting bullshit? they still get their money if you use their products..they still get their money if you hold up signs and do nothing about their way of income. if you really want this to work throw out your damn iphones, stop using facebook, dont us your gaming system, quit buying gas and get off the internet....
In order to get enough people to make real change, there needs to be awareness. Only then will there be enough informed people to actually make a difference. Therefore protesters must hold up signs and chant shit. This is how we get people to open their eyes to the issues, because the media sure in the hell isn’t going to do it. Not all Corporations are an issue, this is not about being anti-capitalist. However, pharmaceutical, oil, an other huge companies are an issue. Learn the distinction

The rich keep getting richer and the poor keep getting poorer. If you look up the distribution of wealth in the US, you see that the top 1% of wealthiest people own 43% of the wealth.. and the top 20% of the wealthiest people in the US own 93% of the wealth. That means 80% of the US population is fighting for 7% of the wealth.
Cooperate suck ups and media portray the Occupy movement as a "bunch of lazy hippies" wanting a free meal.. but really they want corporations to pay taxes like us.
Just a bunch of people complaining about Big corporations not giving back to them because the people made poor decisions like majoring in Anime studies or Literature, and now they want their money back. Get a job, stop whining, and stop being lazy.
@TheJeremiewatson Trollololol. Go research Citizens United vs FEC. Corporations now have control over elections. With SOPA/PIPA, they'll have control over the internet. There are so many things fundamentally wrong with this country, its politics, its policies, and its economics... lern moar pleez. If you're not outraged, then you're not informed. Get informed. Get outraged. Get together. That's what #OWS is about. The question we're asking each other is "now what"? A million ideas.
@GeeGamerz Not whining, WAILING. You know what I whine about? I whine about the fact that 70% of Americans are politically clueless apathetic know-nothings in a period of political upheaval we haven't seen since the Gilded Age began! And to top it off, 25% of those people are vocal haters that revel in ignorance like a bukkake star. Go get some Purell, wipe the ignorance from your eyes with the tissue of facts*, and come "be whiny" with us.

ExxonMobil is one of the highest earning corporate companies of all time. their earnings go to share holders, which is where wall street comes in. when they don't pay taxes, they aren't giving back to the government that allows them to exist, and they retain more money than they should. if they did pay the amount of taxes they should have, that alone would have a huge impact on the economy-the point is that they dont.
@pgthinker007 As much as I disagree with your opinion that we're jealous, you're right about Exxon. The most important and meaningful expression of your values is where you put your money - in fact, money has basically replaced an individual's voice in our Democratic process; the "vote" you place for certain corporate practices by purchasing their products is sadly far more meaningful than the vote you place on election day. The faster more people understand this, the faster things can change.
Would the banks do anything unless it was profitable for the top few? I know a sales manager at Chicago's biggest mortgage bank. The sub-prime section of the lending house targeted lower income zip codes because they made more money on higher rates. Then they would bundled the toxic loans & sold them to pension funds. So much for the American dream....
I like the idea of ending the control of the corporate global bankers and ending the fed that has control over the dollar. I also want these people to be punished for their crimes. However, I do not like the fact that a lot of these Occupy Wall Street protesters are calling for all this free stuff to be handed over to them.
Its called capitalism - and that is why the US has 25% of the world's GDP and everyone on the planet wants to live here. Stop whining and go earn more money if you don't think its "fair", otherwise enjoy your life and appreciate that money doesn't mean happiness.
@JoshBoschke I want a world even without gold because gold is still money. "A resource based economy is a system in which all goods and services are available without the use of money, criedi, barter or any other sort of debt servitude. All resources become the common heritage of all the inhabitants, not just the select few. The premise upon which this system is based is that the earth is abundant with plentiful resources; our practice of rationing resources through monetary methods is irrelevant
What is your definition of money? The definition of money is "something generally accepted as a medium of exchange, a measure of value, or a means of payment." If your talking about an economy based on natural resources, you need to include gold and silver. Why? Because they are resources. It sounds to me like your going to have the government deciding what is money and what is not. The people want gold and silver because it is rare and not common.
Are you talking about communism? I still don't quite get the picture. Would it be legal in this pretend economy for me to demand gold, silver, or wood if somebody wanted to pay me in rocks? I need more information.
@JoshBoschke No it is not communism. Communism has many different definitions so you can't just say that what i am stating is communism. Believe it or not but money does not have to exist in the world. People can live in an sustainable global world. I am trying to explain that a steady state economy can exist where you do not need to worry or do anything if you want. You can paint forever or make music. Day dream. If you message me i can go deeper into the subject but this box is small.
Well I didn't state it I asked it. The problem is, the majority of people are not like that so it would be near impossible. It sounds to me like you want everyone just to share with each other, which would be nice, but it is impossible. If I would just give away my music for free and I went to go get someone else's music and he asked for money would that be fair? This sounds like a planned/command control economy to me.
@JoshBoschke Those recording engineers are doing what they love and so are the producers. I honestly want to be a recording engineer and i'd do it for free. A drastic change is happening. This is possible. People are so negative, we are sophisticated beings not hopeless people. All i can do is give you my information and thoughts. You can either take it or not.
All I am saying is that the problem with humanity is that humanity is not like as your system would make it out to be. Evil does exist in the world. What about law enforcement? If there were no taxes, how would the government be funding these people? What about the military?
If I want to just make music and if I want to get famous and have everybody else enjoy it. I am going to have to hire studio producers. What are they going to get in return? It's going to have to be some form of payment right? They aren't just going to work for free. Society is not just like that. It sounds wonderful but it just will not work because humanity is not like that.
And you know what's definitely gonna solve these problems? Standing around a dirty park being dirty. I'm sure that'll end all the inequalities in this country anyday now. Seriously, though, if you OWS people are so clear on what the problems facing the world are, why haven't you been able to formulate one single demand to remedy them yet?
@16strapist you know nothing about history. These methods of protesting have been effective and they will be here. maybe you'll understand someday if we do change the flawed system or you'll just go on about your business as if nothing had ever happened because you had no clue anything was ever wrong. That's fine because i do agree with "ignorance is bliss". No offense.
@DoodWinSauce It seems you didn't understand my comment, smart guy. Something is horribly wrong with the world today. It's called global capitalism. Chances of OWS doing anything to remedy that: 0%. Next time you go to call someone stupid, stop and make sure that they're not smarter than you. Cheers.
@16strapist haha well i did understand your comment and replied to it. Nothing in your original post specified anything about you having an understand of what the protest is about. I doubt you're smarter than me. lol
@16strapist well obviously you've seen videos of people saying different things. That's because everyone has their own ideas, people are different. The effects of this recession have been so vast it has many different faces from being illegally foreclosed on to student loan debt (they protest because they went to college and got out to find nobody is hiring and they've accrued all this debt for nothing, only to inherit a mess) but mainly it's abouT..
HOLDING THOSE RESPONSIBLE FOR OUR ECONOMIC DOWNFALL
STOPPING USELESS WARS
ENDING THE FEDERAL RESERVE AND DESIGNATING THEIR POWER BACK TO THE GOV
AND
THEY'RE PISSED ABOUT HAVING NO SAY IN BAILING OUT THE CORPS THAT DID THIS WITH OUR TAX MONEY, THEY THEY GIVE THEMSELVES EXORBITANT BONUSES MEANWHILE 401Ks ARE LOST AND PEOPLE ARE BEING KICKED OUT OF THEIR HOMES
EDUCATED PEOPLE CANT GET JOBS! there it is. AGAIN depends on who you're talking to.
@DoodWinSauce OK, fine. Now explain how standing around a park all day, without a political plan of action, or even a single demand, is going to help solve those problems.
...actually, if you watch the news, you're witnessing how it effects the political conversations. Have you ever heard anyone actually talk about fannie mae or freddie mac until now? nope.
If the intended audience were not paying attention, do you think these protestors would meet violent clashes with the police?
Peaceful protestors vs. violent police hmmm. I wonder why they would try and squash a movement with such brute force?
@DoodWinSauce And there it is, the same lame excuse all you OWS people use any time anybody points out the movement's lack of demands or goals or coordinated strategy - "but, we're getting people to start talking about stuff." Okay, well perhaps you've heard the phrase 'talk is cheap?' It's been 2 months, people have talked about it for a while now, when do the clear demands and objectives get put forward? And perhaps you've also heard the phrase 'money talks, and bullshit walks.'
@DoodWinSauce What actions has OWS taken that have had any effect on the large corporations bottom line, or made it harder for them to do business? Or to influence politicians to take a stand aginst them? What is eventually gonna happen to change the system? People are just standing around the park smoking weed and ?having drum circles and then one day corporations just magically stop being greedy? What's the plan here?
@DoodWinSauce I'm neither Democrat nor Republican, all politicians are corrupt bastards that work for the banks. I hate cops more than you could even possibly imagine. Did you just figure out that police beat people down with impunity everyday? Now that it's your white college buddies who are the ones getting hit? The first time I got smacked around by a cop I was 12 years old. We've been aware about it a little bit longer here in the "innner city."
@DoodWinSauce I'd like for nothing more than changes to begin. We already know that Obama was full of shit and wasn't the answer. I'm worried that OWS may be channeling a lot of good effort and energy in a useless direction, but we'll see what happens.
@16strapist To quote Ghandi, "Be the change you want to see in the world." Stop recognizing the power of the fiction called "government" and start recognizing the power of yourself and those around you. Move your feet. Now, who moved your feet? Speak your mind. Now, who spoke your mind? I'll give you $10 if you jump when I say so. Who makes you jump?
Do you get it? Wake up and recognize your power. "We'll see what happens". If we all said that, there'd be no #OWS. Just folk staring.
Okay, I don't see what's wrong with certain people owning the stock market. If people want to invest in it, they can. I don't see how anyone can change the fact that people with wealth are going to be those who own financially driven property. I can agree with some other parts of this video.
I'll be happy to occupy one of the 1% extra domiciles. If I don't sign up more ESL students, I'll be on the damn street come December! Working night and day to drum up business, all to no avail.
Sick of the greedy making it so difficult for hardworking folks to achieve a basic level of a comfortable and safe existence.
If you think the Occupy movement is against those successful individuals that made it without collusive lobbyists and business men flipping back and forth from CEO to Congressman....you are asleep. Two or three choices is NOT competition. Occupy the Federal Reserve in ALL districts. It is happening right now...and you didn't even know it. phibetaiotaDOTnet Electoral Reform Statement of Demand - this is what it's all about
If this video is accurate, then I actually support these people LESS after seeing it. This video seems to just be complaining that 100% of Americans aren't in the top 1% of American wage-earners.Exxon-Mobile isn't evil if it makes $19 billion. It doesn't mean they should be taxed more. In reality, getting rid of all corporate taxes is better than adding more taxes and punishing success.
@sabintr Your definition of "success" is buying the government and gaming the system? Quit being disingenuous. You know what this is all about. Corrupt deregulation and lack of accountability - different rules for those on top then for the rest of us.
@Hissyspit I agree completely that buying the government is not real success, but to some extent, I cannot fault anyone who uses a broken system to their advantage. The deregulation you talk about wouldn't be corrupt if it were done across the board, evenly, in all aspects of our personal and business lives. Corrupt deregulation isn't any worse than the corrupt regulations that got us here.
@sabintr your right! making billions of dollars and not paying taxes is the way to go! but if someone making 60k a year doesn't pay taxes throw the book at them. Put them in jail and waste taxpayer money investigating them. YOU'RE ONTO SOMETHING HERE, sabintr.
@DoodWinSauce I never once said what you claim. I'm talking about fairness. It is NOT fair if someone (or some company) pays a higher percentage because they make more. If I pay 10%, then Bill Gates should pay 10%. If Bill pays 1%, then everyone else should pay 1%. The problem with over-regulation is that it creates tax loopholes. @Hissyspit said 1 thing that makes perfect sense: [the problem is there are] different rules for those on top then [sic] for the rest of us. I agree, that's the worst.
you said a company making 19 billion should not be taxed. You know you're talking about the "trickle down" effect.
When 0.6% of a nations population owns 40% of the wealth, i'd call that a clog.
anyway, I don't care about companies and their tax rates, as long as they pay some sort of taxes. Don't force me to pay and let them get off. Get rid of taxes all together if that's how it's going to be then see where you'll be.
@DoodWinSauce No, I said that a company making $19 billion should not pay MORE taxes (a higher tax rate) than anyone else. I did NOT say that there should be no corporate tax; I said that it would be BETTER to have no corporate tax than to punish success with a higher tax rate. Sorry for the all-caps, I had to make sure you actually read what I write before you decide to criticize it.
"If this video is accurate, then I actually support these people LESS after seeing it. This video seems to just be complaining that 100% of Americans aren't in the top 1% of American wage-earners.Exxon-Mobile isn't evil if it makes $19 billion. @DoodWinSauce "In reality, getting rid of all corporate taxes is better than adding more taxes and punishing success."
The operative phrase is "is better than". I didn't say that it was a good idea, or that billionaire corporations should not pay taxes... only that they should not pay a higher (or lower) rate than the rest of us do. There should be no loopholes. There should be a single low, uniform tax rate applicable to every person and every company of every income level and every situation.
I still don't get it, are you suggesting that people and companies shouldn't be allowed to make but so much money? Then they should have to give some of it to others "just because?"
@outrage9 No, not "just because." Because of corrupt policy, because of criminal activity, because of buying government off, because of corporate welfare, because of 'too big to fail,' because of lack of accountability, because of what would really be fair, because of how democracy SHOULD work for the best for this country, because of the perverse discrepancy in productivity/wages. But you actually know that, don't you? Or have you not been paying attention for the past several years/decades?
@Hissyspit You seem like you're on the right track, opposing corporate welfare and 'too big to fail', but the proposed vision of fairness doesn't seem to fit. Wages should be exactly equal to whatever a worker is willing to trade his time, energy, and talent for. Minimum wages hurt the poor. Collective bargaining often hurts business, which often hurt the poor. Want to fix the discrepancy? Let people earn what they're worth, not what some bureaucrat says is 'fair'.
@outrage9 It all comes down to a power equation. Unions work when they exert the power of numbers of workers. CEOs exert the power of their position, so why shouldn't we? In times past--more prosperous times than this--wealth was distributed more equitably than now. How stupid would we be if we didn't organize in some way to counteract the power that others have *taken*? The general population would not support what they considered unfair. They support OWS.
@gjfanatique Wealth isn't "distributed". Wealth is earned. Wealth isn't being earned equitably because while some are working hard with targeted educations in profitable sectors, others are skipped classes for their basket weaving degree to cry in the street about how their futures aren't looking as bright as they wished they were.
@albertannationalist Hmmm... Following your rationale, crack dealers are more useful and deserving than carpenters because their jobs are more lucrative... I guess I'll have to re-think my position...
@albertannationalist i agree, wealth isn't and shouldn't be distributed. you are right in that aspect. you are also correct that some of the protestors are partly at fault for their current situation. the main complaints are corruption in congress and the senate, corporate personhood, loan shark banks and mortgage loans, a struggling small business economy, and in general an environment which makes it difficult to make an honest living.
@trzill Oh nonsense. You're generating wealth every day of your life. Isn't that earning it? CEOs and executives and managers do exactly the same thing.
The only way to create wealth is to earn it: otherwise, who would help you create it?
zzJerryShufflezz - I know it's really, really hard to believe that protesters have been brutalized by our own police while doing absolutely nothing wrong. But that is what is happening. I have personally witnessed this kind of behavior and I was scared to death and shocked.
I'm pretty sure these people were not arrested because they were protesting. Granted, it might have been a case for a few people, but the vast majority most likely did more than a bit of protesting.
@zzJerryShufflezz I don't know what you mean by "did more than a bit of protesting" but the vast majority were peaceful protestors doing nothing more than occupying public space.
sadly loopholes and tax breaks are not a crime. I would say get your JD and work for the FTC and 'go after' them (its okay, I know you won't) and use your vote. You expect some change to take place by Christmas, your live in a fantasy world, the bailouts were 2-3 YEARS ago, and now your bitching? You need to vote in every election, school - federal.
Protesting will do nothing. Don't take out a loan, don't use credit...is amazingly simple.
@DavidLister6000 not so simple. don't take loans? don't use credit cards? i guess that works if you're a blue collar stiff who rents an apartment but not so hot if you're an entrepreneur or sole proprietor such as myself.
you saying 'you should vote more often' doesn't really help when talking about the bailouts, a continuing problem, that never went to a public vote.
@platypusrex256 If you live on credit, then you face the risks. No one puts a pistol to your head and says call BOA. And if you major issue is with bailouts, I certainly agree some businesses should have been left to fail and not others. Deregulation and greed made a lot of this happen, and it was completely legal. You should be protesting and swarming the FDIC and the FTC, not Wall Street.
But you won't, its easier to cry foul then actually direct your anger in the right direction.
@DavidLister6000 i agree the fdic and ftc are to blame but i don't blame deregulation or greed. regulatory efforts are like sparying anit-bacterial in hospitals. you kill off the 99% and the 1% only get stronger.
@DavidLister6000 "use your vote" -- how naive are you? The candidates are bought and sold before elections even happen -- see the Sunlight Foundation. You could go back to school to learn about this but the crushing student loans would probably feed you into a mindless, sterile work environment where it wouldn't do you any good.
It's happening 3 years after the meltdown because Americans have traditionally counted on a functioning democracy to work in their favor. That's clearly impossible now.
@pfarnac1 You should have figured out a way to pay for it yourself without a loan. Once you sign your name, you accept the risks of that debt. Who told you a college degree was mandatory? You can't see the job market is not stuffed with 20-26 year olds with a useless degree. Planning and forethought must be missing in this generation.
You've doomed yourself to your life on credit.
Bitch all you want, but bitching doesn't change anything.
@pfarnac1 I am killing time in my office, its an open morning. And I don't see much that needs 'fixing' perhaps some additional regulation, it won't pick up until January, the election is still 12 months away...
@mistaspot1 Ok....tell me what any of the Occupy events have done? Show me one tangible thing that has changed? Public opinion? Nah, those that will vote left will always vote left. Perhaps increased the number of voters ~ maybe. But in the end, this is a massive waste of time.
@DavidLister6000 So far it has completely shifted the media discussion from the deficit to jobs, healthcare, education, corporate personhood, a post bailout world. Banks are losing money to credit unions in a big way. World wide opinions on shady loan schemes are coming to the forefront. Police are starting to disobey unconstitutional orders. The wealth gap is being scrutinized much more closely. Just to name a few.
@twistmental79 .....and the end result will be what? Just wait, there will be a plane crash, or another baby in the well, attention will shift again.
What will be the result? You want to be the lead story, just pull out a pistol and fire a few shots in the air at a protest, you win. But I don't see/hear any bankers coming down from mount high saying anything.
Credit Unions? perhaps, that's the free market for you.
You should have waited until the election cycle next year.
@twistmental79 doubtful, OWS now only gets 'bad' press, the rape, the OD, now STDs and bums ~ way to stick it to the banksters!!! Such a waste. I see plenty of talking but no action. I always wondered what would happen if someone had a protest and no one cared, now I know....while you sit there the jobs you could have sought out are now had by those who didn't hold out their hand, but wanted to work.
@DavidLister6000 "occupying" spaces has proven to be an extremely effective way of protesting. (Afro American sit ins, tahrir square, tiananmen square etc) just curious. where do you read this bad press? No one cares about this protest? 87 different countries 700 US cities. National recognition. The reason you know about these protests is the same reason why this video has 27k views.. because people do care. We just need more.
@DoodWinSauce again, doubtful, I checked a few news outlets, the one's the normal people read, its either the 8th or as far back as the 17th header in their program. Sorry, unless your getting arrested, no one gives a shit. The cops will arrest a few here and there, but once the police go, there's no one to shout at and thus, no one care. You want to camp in the park, have at it, but I don't see too many legislators there.
@DavidLister6000 the news "normal people" read cover a lot of celebrity gossip. So i wouldn't recommend using anything from media sources like that in a conversation. Back to the point, you said no one cares about the occupy wall street. If the media outlets you and "normal people" read covered this movement correctly you would know that is wrong. Again, 87 countries 700 U.S. cities and growing.
did you assume the internet would fade into history as well? This is the future. Get on board.
@DoodWinSauce you can have it in 7000 cities, it won't change anything. Your not swaying anyone in office to increase regulation again, banks didn't break any laws as ugly as what they may or may have not done. Give it about 10 years and you'll see a change. Being upset at your neighbor having a better car then you? Who gives a shit.
He makes $200k/yr and I only make 25K and have huge student loan, hey, tough shit buddy...welcome to the real world college boy.
@DavidLister6000 you said nobody cared and i put some numbers up that prove other wise. I never said anything about regulation or blaming banks (although those are things i agree with). As for 10 years, yeah maybe but then again it took libya 8 months to make a change so only time will tell with that.
Nobody hates capitalism. It's the foundation of the American Dream. they hate people using their money to influence our government. I'm sure a household making 200k doesn't have a lobbyist.
lobbyist=salesman with tons of money as "incentive" because they know "investing" money to get a lawmaker to look the other way will result in millions in profit.
@DoodWinSauce ..without lobbyists, why would any Representative or Senator listen to you? Get in line as 8000 people from Montana want to talk to their legislator. And for non-profit groups and trade unions, lobbying serve a vital function to get what their members want to the ears of the right legislators. But by all mean, go alone and see who listens....I'll wait.....after all the average legislator get around 300 emails per day.
@DavidLister6000 So explain to me why a corporate interest co-op should be able to get regular first-hand access to politicians and step over the 300 citizens that are demanding attention to their issues? What gives them that right?
@jawbrayker ...Funny, I am longer a lobbyist and I still see congressmen and congresswomen from time to time. Guess you never actually went to one of their office and made an appointment have you? Nah, that would take work and since you just want to run wild in the street under some mistaken idea that something will come of it, by all means, please do, make sure you record it, the clips are a riot <--- wow, irony
@DavidLister6000 sad you don't think highly enough of yourself to think your opinion matters. Just to reiterate. It's not a war on capitalism. They don't hate success. They hate certain corporations/people that make billions, don't pay taxes and use their money to bribe idiotic "law makers".
Funny, we live in a country that will hound you for not paying taxes on 100k, throw you in jail etc. but a corporation doesn't pay 1 cent and everyone seems to look the other way.
@DavidLister6000 LOBBYIST: someone who is employed to persuade legislators to vote for legislation that favors the lobbyist's employer.

What the hell is wrong with all of you. You want to be rich? Work for it. Very few people in this country have been handed everything, and those that do, don't hang on to that wealth for very long. Fact is that most wealthy people have worked themselves into the ground obtaining what they have.
kjbigslim 2 months ago
@kjbigslim And no one is denying that working hard is the best way to accumulate monetary value. However, taking advantage of people in impoverished circumstances and evading taxes cannot possibly considered "working hard". And that is what a lot of wealthier companies have a bad habit of doing...
Alyss93 1 month ago
@Alyss93 Please explain how these corporations have taken advantage of you, or any "impoverished" person. I don't understand the logic behind all this. I'll tell you what, you convince me that the actions of these companies have made my life harder, and I'll join your cause. I am by no means wealthy. I have a job where I make $12 an hour for 5 months out of the year. I see no connection between me and the wealthiest of this country. Please be specific and educated in your argument.
kjbigslim 1 month ago
@kjbigslim If this video wasn't specific and educated enough for you, then you are a hopeless idealist. Yeah, right, all the corporations in the US gained their wealth by honest hard work
empav1971 1 month ago
@kjbigslim i would agree...usually. but in modern times, that's not the case. you're better off being an unintelligent rich white kid in the US, than a really smart, lower class child. My whole family, we're the top 1%, and i always thought stuff like what you said is true...but it's not anymore. All of my family went to college, but made average grades and they're all rich from my granpa's businesses.(All international)i like being wealthy, but im beginning to see that most rich, don't earn it.
0FRED0is0DEAD0 1 month ago 5
@0FRED0is0DEAD0 are you saying you are an unintelligent rich white kid that graduated from college? intelligent low class people won't stay low class forever. I'm willing to bet either your grandpa or his father were dirt poor. They worked hard. They studied hard, and they passed their monetary wealth and knowledge on to you. Consider it a gift.
kjbigslim 1 month ago
@0FRED0is0DEAD0 wealth doesn't come without a price. If you are wealthy, and you don't feel you deserve it, it's because somebody paid that price for you. Somebody, like your grandpa, wanted his children and grandchildren to have more than he had. My father wants me to have more than he had. He has given me more than he had, I plan on giving my kids more than I will ever have. There is nothing wrong with this. Use what you have to help others out, or don't. Your choice.
kjbigslim 1 month ago
@kjbigslim oh i agree sir, but i'm saying that my family makes (i know this sounds crazy) too much, and our employees get dirt, and they know that. i just worry, because i think some of my family members in high school don't even try because they know after college, they'll be set for life, you know? But i see your point.

ALittleBitMoreMakeup 3 months ago

pgthinker007 3 months ago

RESOURCE BASED ECONOMY, A WORLD WITHOUT MONEY! <3 WE NEED THAT NOWW!!!!
Deah92fooeee 3 months ago
@Deah92fooeee
Would that include gold and/or silver? Because that technically is a resource and money. I would be in favor of that.
JoshBoschke 3 months ago
@JoshBoschke I want a world even without gold because gold is still money. "A resource based economy is a system in which all goods and services are available without the use of money, criedi, barter or any other sort of debt servitude. All resources become the common heritage of all the inhabitants, not just the select few. The premise upon which this system is based is that the earth is abundant with plentiful resources; our practice of rationing resources through monetary methods is irrelevant
Deah92fooeee 3 months ago
@Deah92fooeee
But gold is a resource. You can't deny that. It's valuable because its rare and hard to acquire.
JoshBoschke 3 months ago
@Deah92fooeee
JoshBoschke 3 months ago
@Deah92fooeee
Are you talking about communism? I still don't quite get the picture. Would it be legal in this pretend economy for me to demand gold, silver, or wood if somebody wanted to pay me in rocks? I need more information.
JoshBoschke 3 months ago
@JoshBoschke No it is not communism. Communism has many different definitions so you can't just say that what i am stating is communism. Believe it or not but money does not have to exist in the world. People can live in an sustainable global world. I am trying to explain that a steady state economy can exist where you do not need to worry or do anything if you want. You can paint forever or make music. Day dream. If you message me i can go deeper into the subject but this box is small.
Deah92fooeee 3 months ago
@Deah92fooeee
JoshBoschke 3 months ago
@JoshBoschke Those recording engineers are doing what they love and so are the producers. I honestly want to be a recording engineer and i'd do it for free. A drastic change is happening. This is possible. People are so negative, we are sophisticated beings not hopeless people. All i can do is give you my information and thoughts. You can either take it or not.
Deah92fooeee 3 months ago
@Deah92fooeee
All I am saying is that the problem with humanity is that humanity is not like as your system would make it out to be. Evil does exist in the world. What about law enforcement? If there were no taxes, how would the government be funding these people? What about the military?
JoshBoschke 3 months ago
@Deah92fooeee

@16strapist you know nothing about history. sabintr 4 months ago
@sabintr Your definition of "success" is buying the government and gaming the system? Quit being disingenuous. You know what this is all about. Corrupt deregulation and lack of accountability - different rules for those on top then for the rest of us.
Hissyspit 3 months ago 3
@Hissyspit I agree completely that buying the government is not real success, but to some extent, I cannot fault anyone who uses a broken system to their advantage. The deregulation you talk about wouldn't be corrupt if it were done across the board, evenly, in all aspects of our personal and business lives. Corrupt deregulation isn't any worse than the corrupt regulations that got us here.
sabintr 3 months ago
@sabintr your right! making billions of dollars and not paying taxes is the way to go! but if someone making 60k a year doesn't pay taxes throw the book at them. Put them in jail and waste taxpayer money investigating them. YOU'RE ONTO SOMETHING HERE, sabintr.
DoodWinSauce 3 months ago
@DoodWinSauce I never once said what you claim. I'm talking about fairness. It is NOT fair if someone (or some company) pays a higher percentage because they make more. If I pay 10%, then Bill Gates should pay 10%. If Bill pays 1%, then everyone else should pay 1%. The problem with over-regulation is that it creates tax loopholes. @Hissyspit said 1 thing that makes perfect sense: [the problem is there are] different rules for those on top then [sic] for the rest of us. I agree, that's the worst.
sabintr 3 months ago
@sabintr
you said a company making 19 billion should not be taxed.
DoodWinSauce 3 months ago
@DoodWinSauce No, I said that a company making $19 billion should not pay MORE taxes (a higher tax rate) than anyone else. I did NOT say that there should be no corporate tax; I said that it would be BETTER to have no corporate tax than to punish success with a higher tax rate. Sorry for the all-caps, I had to make sure you actually read what I write before you decide to criticize it.

DoodWinSauce 3 months ago
@DoodWinSauce "In reality, getting rid of all corporate taxes is better than adding more taxes and punishing success."
The operative phrase is "is better than". I didn't say that it was a good idea, or that billionaire corporations should not pay taxes... only that they should not pay a higher (or lower) rate than the rest of us do. There should be no loopholes. There should be a single low, uniform tax rate applicable to every person and every company of every income level and every situation.
sabintr 3 months ago
I still don't get it, are you suggesting that people and companies shouldn't be allowed to make but so much money? Then they should have to give some of it to others "just because?"
outrage9 4 months ago
@outrage9 No, not "just because." Because of corrupt policy, because of criminal activity, because of buying government off, because of corporate welfare, because of 'too big to fail,' because of lack of accountability, because of what would really be fair, because of how democracy SHOULD work for the best for this country, because of the perverse discrepancy in productivity/wages. But you actually know that, don't you? Or have you not been paying attention for the past several years/decades?
Hissyspit 3 months ago 4
@Hissyspit You seem like you're on the right track, opposing corporate welfare and 'too big to fail', but the proposed vision of fairness doesn't seem to fit. Wages should be exactly equal to whatever a worker is willing to trade his time, energy, and talent for. Minimum wages hurt the poor. Collective bargaining often hurts business, which often hurt the poor. Want to fix the discrepancy? Let people earn what they're worth, not what some bureaucrat says is 'fair'.
sabintr 3 months ago
@outrage9 It all comes down to a power equation. Unions work when they exert the power of numbers of workers. CEOs exert the power of their position, so why shouldn't we? In times past--more prosperous times than this--wealth was distributed more equitably than now. How stupid would we be if we didn't organize in some way to counteract the power that others have *taken*? The general population would not support what they considered unfair. They support OWS.
gjfanatique 3 months ago
@gjfanatique Wealth isn't "distributed". Wealth is earned. Wealth isn't being earned equitably because while some are working hard with targeted educations in profitable sectors, others are skipped classes for their basket weaving degree to cry in the street about how their futures aren't looking as bright as they wished they were.

@albertannationalist Hmmm... Following your rationale, crack dealers are more useful and deserving than carpenters because their jobs are more lucrative... I guess I'll have to re-think my position...
83169 3 months ago 9
@albertannationalist i agree, wealth isn't and shouldn't be distributed. you are right in that aspect. you are also correct that some of the protestors are partly at fault for their current situation. the main complaints are corruption in congress and the senate, corporate personhood, loan shark banks and mortgage loans, a struggling small business economy, and in general an environment which makes it difficult to make an honest living.
kdootz 3 months ago
@albertannationalist The vast majority of wealth isn't "earned," it's "inherited."
trzill 3 months ago
@trzill Oh nonsense. You're generating wealth every day of your life. Isn't that earning it? CEOs and executives and managers do exactly the same thing.
The only way to create wealth is to earn it: otherwise, who would help you create it?

zzJerryShufflezz - I know it's really, really hard to believe that protesters have been brutalized by our own police while doing absolutely nothing wrong. But that is what is happening. I have personally witnessed this kind of behavior and I was scared to death and shocked.

I'm pretty sure these people were not arrested because they were protesting. Granted, it might have been a case for a few people, but the vast majority most likely did more than a bit of protesting.
zzJerryShufflezz 4 months ago

DavidLister6000 4 months ago
@DavidLister6000 not so simple. don't take loans? don't use credit cards? i guess that works if you're a blue collar stiff who rents an apartment but not so hot if you're an entrepreneur or sole proprietor such as myself.
you saying 'you should vote more often' doesn't really help when talking about the bailouts, a continuing problem, that never went to a public vote.
platypusrex256 4 months ago 2
@platypusrex256 If you live on credit, then you face the risks. No one puts a pistol to your head and says call BOA. And if you major issue is with bailouts, I certainly agree some businesses should have been left to fail and not others. Deregulation and greed made a lot of this happen, and it was completely legal. You should be protesting and swarming the FDIC and the FTC, not Wall Street.
But you won't, its easier to cry foul then actually direct your anger in the right direction.
DavidLister6000 4 months ago
@DavidLister6000 i agree the fdic and ftc are to blame but i don't blame deregulation or greed. regulatory efforts are like sparying anit-bacterial in hospitals. you kill off the 99% and the 1% only get stronger.
platypusrex256 3 months ago
@DavidLister6000 "use your vote" -- how naive are you? The candidates are bought and sold before elections even happen -- see the Sunlight Foundation. You could go back to school to learn about this but the crushing student loans would probably feed you into a mindless, sterile work environment where it wouldn't do you any good.
It's happening 3 years after the meltdown because Americans have traditionally counted on a functioning democracy to work in their favor. That's clearly impossible now.
pfarnac1 4 months ago 2
@pfarnac1 You should have figured out a way to pay for it yourself without a loan. Once you sign your name, you accept the risks of that debt. Who told you a college degree was mandatory? You can't see the job market is not stuffed with 20-26 year olds with a useless degree. Planning and forethought must be missing in this generation.
You've doomed yourself to your life on credit.
Bitch all you want, but bitching doesn't change anything.
DavidLister6000 4 months ago
@DavidLister6000 You're right, bitching doesn't change anything. So why are you on youtube and how are you fixing this country?
Nothing? How shameful, sir.
pfarnac1 4 months ago
@pfarnac1 I am killing time in my office, its an open morning. And I don't see much that needs 'fixing' perhaps some additional regulation, it won't pick up until January, the election is still 12 months away...
DavidLister6000 4 months ago
@DavidLister6000 Stop suggesting that our solution is not the solution. Just fucking occupy, dammit.
mistaspot1 4 months ago 2
@mistaspot1 Ok....tell me what any of the Occupy events have done? Show me one tangible thing that has changed? Public opinion? Nah, those that will vote left will always vote left. Perhaps increased the number of voters ~ maybe. But in the end, this is a massive waste of time.
DavidLister6000 4 months ago
@DavidLister6000 So far it has completely shifted the media discussion from the deficit to jobs, healthcare, education, corporate personhood, a post bailout world. Banks are losing money to credit unions in a big way. World wide opinions on shady loan schemes are coming to the forefront. Police are starting to disobey unconstitutional orders. The wealth gap is being scrutinized much more closely. Just to name a few.
twistmental79 4 months ago
@twistmental79 .....and the end result will be what? Just wait, there will be a plane crash, or another baby in the well, attention will shift again.
What will be the result? You want to be the lead story, just pull out a pistol and fire a few shots in the air at a protest, you win. But I don't see/hear any bankers coming down from mount high saying anything.
Credit Unions? perhaps, that's the free market for you.
You should have waited until the election cycle next year.
DavidLister6000 4 months ago
@DavidLister6000 So far you're wrong.
twistmental79 3 months ago
@twistmental79 doubtful, OWS now only gets 'bad' press, the rape, the OD, now STDs and bums ~ way to stick it to the banksters!!! Such a waste. I see plenty of talking but no action. I always wondered what would happen if someone had a protest and no one cared, now I know....while you sit there the jobs you could have sought out are now had by those who didn't hold out their hand, but wanted to work.
DavidLister6000 3 months ago
@DavidLister6000 "occupying" spaces has proven to be an extremely effective way of protesting. (Afro American sit ins, tahrir square, tiananmen square etc) just curious. where do you read this bad press? No one cares about this protest? 87 different countries 700 US cities. National recognition. The reason you know about these protests is the same reason why this video has 27k views.. because people do care. We just need more.
DoodWinSauce 3 months ago
@DoodWinSauce again, doubtful, I checked a few news outlets, the one's the normal people read, its either the 8th or as far back as the 17th header in their program. Sorry, unless your getting arrested, no one gives a shit. The cops will arrest a few here and there, but once the police go, there's no one to shout at and thus, no one care. You want to camp in the park, have at it, but I don't see too many legislators there.
DavidLister6000 3 months ago
@DavidLister6000 the news "normal people" read cover a lot of celebrity gossip. So i wouldn't recommend using anything from media sources like that in a conversation. Back to the point, you said no one cares about the occupy wall street. If the media outlets you and "normal people" read covered this movement correctly you would know that is wrong. Again, 87 countries 700 U.S. cities and growing.
did you assume the internet would fade into history as well? This is the future. Get on board.
DoodWinSauce 3 months ago
@DoodWinSauce you can have it in 7000 cities, it won't change anything. Your not swaying anyone in office to increase regulation again, banks didn't break any laws as ugly as what they may or may have not done. Give it about 10 years and you'll see a change. Being upset at your neighbor having a better car then you? Who gives a shit.
He makes $200k/yr and I only make 25K and have huge student loan, hey, tough shit buddy...welcome to the real world college boy.
DavidLister6000 3 months ago
@DavidLister6000 you said nobody cared and i put some numbers up that prove other wise. I never said anything about regulation or blaming banks (although those are things i agree with). As for 10 years, yeah maybe but then again it took libya 8 months to make a change so only time will tell with that.
Nobody hates capitalism. It's the foundation of the American Dream. they hate people using their money to influence our government. I'm sure a household making 200k doesn't have a lobbyist.
DoodWinSauce 3 months ago
@DoodWinSauce and what's wrong with being a lobbyist?
DavidLister6000 3 months ago
@DavidLister6000
lobbying=bribery
lobbyist=salesman with tons of money as "incentive" because they know "investing" money to get a lawmaker to look the other way will result in millions in profit.
DoodWinSauce 3 months ago
keep in mind they don't always use money as incentive. Tickets, trips, etc. are all forms of bribery lobbyists use.
DoodWinSauce 3 months ago
@DoodWinSauce ..without lobbyists, why would any Representative or Senator listen to you? Get in line as 8000 people from Montana want to talk to their legislator. And for non-profit groups and trade unions, lobbying serve a vital function to get what their members want to the ears of the right legislators. But by all mean, go alone and see who listens....I'll wait.....after all the average legislator get around 300 emails per day.
You really have no clue how things work.

@DavidLister6000 So explain to me why a corporate interest co-op should be able to get regular first-hand access to politicians and step over the 300 citizens that are demanding attention to their issues? What gives them that right?
jawbrayker 3 months ago
@jawbrayker ...Funny, I am longer a lobbyist and I still see congressmen and congresswomen from time to time. Guess you never actually went to one of their office and made an appointment have you? Nah, that would take work and since you just want to run wild in the street under some mistaken idea that something will come of it, by all means, please do, make sure you record it, the clips are a riot <--- wow, irony
DavidLister6000 3 months ago
@DoodWinSauce ...I will clarify, no one who's opinion matters' cares....
DavidLister6000 3 months ago
@DavidLister6000 sad you don't think highly enough of yourself to think your opinion matters. Just to reiterate. It's not a war on capitalism. They don't hate success. They hate certain corporations/people that make billions, don't pay taxes and use their money to bribe idiotic "law makers".
Funny, we live in a country that will hound you for not paying taxes on 100k, throw you in jail etc. but a corporation doesn't pay 1 cent and everyone seems to look the other way.
DoodWinSauce 3 months ago
@DavidLister6000 LOBBYIST: someone who is employed to persuade legislators to vote for legislation that favors the lobbyist's employer.
problem? they're all corrupt and will only give you the time of day if you have something they want. Either way it's a lose/lose situation for average Americans.
