Ah man, I love these guys. Very few bands have the guts to incorporate the New Orleans jazz sound like the Caddies... And the first ska band was definitely NOT the English Beat (as much as I love them too)... Ska belongs to Jamaica, so the first ska band was probably the Skatalites (but someone could probably argue that). In terms of ska-punk, people like to say it's Op Ivy, but I like to think it's the Mighty Mighty Bosstones, but again, that could be argued.

actually ska was "invented" in the late 40's, and the vandals (early vandals) have used ska riffs in some of their songs way before op ivy.

thats all very well and good but latin ska is old... it snothing new - what the caddies were doing - fusing punk, ska and all kinds of other musical influences (latin, polka, hilbilly, hardcore) hasn't been done before - not like this - and i think if u were more open minded or perhaps just more intelligent then u wud see that very clearly

I have to agree to with ol "4ntarctic". If you take the time to listen to all the Caddies music up to this point, I don't think you can really dis' them. You can say you "don't like them", but you really can't say they "suck", or that they are a blemish on any particular genre. They pretty much do it all, on their terms. I think you have to respect that
