@afms93 Ahhh, what your describing IS drop D tuning. The technique in this lesson is not intended (or suggested) as a replacement for drop D tuning. Its simply a capo setting that has 'similar characteristics' to drop D. Hope that clears things up for you. A~

Not one of your best tricks...You can always tune by ear until the 7th fret of the 6th string matches the open position of the 5th string
