  • is there enough room to "get busy" inside w/the old lady?

  • whats with all the chirpin on his accent. Good review man

  • Pin=Peen

    Tent=Teeyant

    Lol Great video man.

    Picking her up soon

  • was there any itty bitty stinGin rain ?

  • I almost bought one of these. But my new and favorite lightweight tent is the tarptent.com double rainbow. Simply awesome and you can sit up!

  • FYI its called a GUY wire not guide wire lol you guide the guy wire through the loop.

  • How much was it?

  • got it on amazon for 30 bucks!

  • I'm pretty sure you're meant use extra pegs on those elastic loops to stretch out the top sheet and prevent that "dip" in the middle where water could collect. Then you could also use the extra guide ropes :)

  • great tent. Use it for back packing all the time. Definetely worth the 80 bucks

  • You can find it here for around 75 dollars on amazon now.

  • you only need $ stakes for front and back loops ,also when setting it up stake the back put poles in pull tight then stake the front , the poles r fragile the brake after a lot of stress

  • I have this tent and used it wan deer hunting in New York in the winter. It snowed over night and in the morning my sleeping bag was wet because of condensation but I was not could in my down sleeping bag. It’ is small though and next time around I might get something a lute bigger

  • How many stakes do you need to replace?

  • Whun pursun tayunt.

  • hmmm, im quite impressed, esp for the price, you could probably get that even drier if you spent some time getting the fly straightened out and maybe extra pegs, nice review

  • @kyhobbit88 I found the measuring useful for both packing and site selection. But I see your point :)

  • The great part about a ground cloth with this tent is that in a pinch a kitchen trash bag, cut down both sides, does the trick. I've used it several times with success.

  • @runr100 Thanks for the tip :)

  • hey u said ur worried about the water leaking through on the bands in the rain fly i have one and u dont have to worry about that because after a little rain collects it drops off i should know o have used it for 2 years

  • @GermFactor I'm not sure the droplet he found wasn't condensation rather than rain. I've had tents "rain" from just condensation! :D

This tent seems well ventilated so if all he got was one drop, he's the lucky one.

  • This tent weighs less than 3 pounds and is meant for Backpacking. Not for drive to spots. Its meant to be light and compact and keep you out of the weather while you sleep in the backwoods. Its about as good of a backpacking tent as you going to find for this price..

  • @plankshield Dunno. Seems heavier than 3 pounds. I make the store clerk throw me the tent so I can judge it's weight relative to my other tents. Box weights are always understated.

Doesn't matter, though. This is the tent for me :)

  • @plankshield My bad. Disregard the other comment. Forgot which tent reviewed.

  • Seems like a good tient.

  • I was Thinking about buying this the other day. Thanks for Reveiw.

  • Did you mention the weight of the tent?

  • Following tent instructions help. The tarp loops should go around another set of stakes.

  • I think that craftsman tape measure inches are the same as any other inches

  • People that dont use ground clothes are stupid!

  • whats up with yer feet dude

  • wutsa teant

  • Those rain fly loops aren't supposed to be hooked to the same stakes as the floor/pole loop use. The loops are like mini-guy wires.

  • the only major con i can think of for this tent is the pole material these poles will break very easily so be careful

  • Made the mistake of getting this tent for one of my first backpacking trips. I ended up being stuck in the tent for the better part of a week due to some real hard rain. It was awful. I wouldn't wish this tent on my worst enemy. Well... maybe I would. haha Very informative video though. Keep up the good work. Just still pissed about my week worth of living in this bright yellow coffin.

  • heres just a suggestion but if you put the stakes at more of a angle there wouldn't be any space.

  • teeunt

  • Great review. you said the net could have sagged because a tight rainfly, I wonder if that would allow the front guylines to be added if the back wasnt tight.

I loved how technical you were of the review. Measurements, overnight test, etc. Knowing the price isnt a big deal, anyone can google it. I would have liked to know your height. It looked a little cramped when you got inside but without your height, its a little hard to get an idea.

Overall, 4 1/2 but I will rate it 5 stars.

  • Great Review! Have you had any trouble with the poles breaking under the tension? Two of my tents have broken poles. The rear guy outs (where the elastic is too long) are separately staked so the fly will not touch the tent. The side guy outs go sideways, I think, instead of forward. This is so you can exit the tent better. See you on the trail! Mr. Tent

  • wonderful review

  • Nice job and a realistic test Kev. Altarboy from the boards.

  • Almost looks rain fly needs to be staked a little wider so there are not any wrinkles in it.

  • Nice review on the Eureka.

  • You annoying idiot! If you are going to test a product, test it properly! Where the hell is the ground cloth? The 'flimsy' stakes should be also used to stake the RAIN FLY SEPARATELY! Also WAS THERE A BOTTLE OF SEAM SEALER in the box???? THERE IS A REASON FOR THAT!!! ITS CALLED SEAL THE SEAMS!!!

  • @LS1mike1997 This was the first test, lets see how his review goes in part two where he takes it on the field

  • Thanks for sharing

  • I just got mine at academy for $65. Looks like you can get it on amazon for $70.

  • me no likie!

  • Would love to see something like this made out of the same heavy duty Gore Tex fabric thats used in the USGI Modular Sleep System Bivy cover.. Price it at 150.00.. Since these can be found for $75 , i think doubling the price would more then compenste for higher material costs ..

. That would be the ultimate all weather bivy tent....On dry days you could roll down the goretex and sleep under just the bug netting.. Come on Eureka, make the Solitare Exteme

  • it costs about $80 bucks at dicks sporting goods

  • I have an older version of the Eureka Solitaire that I have used for years. The only problem I have had is in the winter. The cold weather makes the poles week. Mine snapped from normal use. It was an easy fix with some tape. But just something to keep in mind.

  • Looks like a neat little tent! Thanks for a great video - I'm looking forward to seeing how the field test goes.

  • I like the tents that are blacked out inside so you can have a light in it and no one can see you on the outside.

  • Would you enough room in the tent to accommodate you and a backpack as well?

  • I like this vid, bro. Thanks for sharing.

  • I proudly own and use the Eureka Solitaire (for the past 6 years, actually). My older version lacks the netting zipper and only has 1 guy point at each end of the tent.

The floor has held up fine with no ground cloth usage. Very little condensation while occupied, too. I found it best to keep the support hoops tilted away from each other. No leakage should occur unless the fly is touching the netting.

Choose your shelter location & orientation carefully - it will make or break your shelter.

  • I heard the craftmans measuring sticks produce major errors?

  • were did you get it and how much

  • try mockasins over crocks.

There isn't rubber, so it doesn't blister.

and it's just overall more comfortable.

  • I found the older model of this tent the Eureka Gossamer new at a yard sale for 10 bucks? Thanks for the review. I have not used mine yet so this helps me know what to expect.

  • a 2 person dome gives you more room at 5X6 ft fits the same size bag and weights 4 pounds i seal my tents my self and have never had one leak i seal the seams first then use a can of camp dry to seal the rain cover and walls

  • not impressed with the tent... looks like a POS

  • I have used this tent several times and my only complaint is that I wish it was 3 inches taller. I spent a weekend camping in the mountains while it was snowing and dipped down to 13 degrees. It was suprisingly warm, just a little cramped.

  • dont geet to weet in that teeent

  • Is there a zipper on the inside of the tent for the top net?

  • why not sleep in the truck?

  • Im not a fan of this tent I have a 2 person dome that fits in the same size bag and the wife and I fit in it great with head room and gear our daughter even sleeps in it with us

  • @2024JayZ I would like to know what kind of tent that is, would you tell?

  • @substanse When I dig my stuff out for the summer ill let ya know

  • man do you know your tents, this is an extremely immpressive reivew, i dont know anyone ( and i know people with ny on 40 years experrience) with as much tent knowladge as you

i take my hat of to you sir

  • I bought a small dome type tent at Wal-mart which only cost $18.

I think it is for kids so if you are tall it would be too short but for the money it's not bad it is also very compact. My wife and I slept in it ... wasn't bad.

  • Good review. I think you should have used the two other guy lines as the manufacturer designed. It may have eliminated the sag you saw in the netting.

  • how much did the tent cost?

  • Nice review bro. I love the fact that you did it in the rain this time to see how it would hold up. The only thing that you could have done to make it better would be to stay in in all night and do updates from it.

  • seems like it would make a good emergancy tent but i wouldnt use it for camping i would rather get a 2 man tent for the extra room.

  • I have an Amazon Eureka, a big tent and the only weakness I see in the eurekas is the floor , I agree it does seems week but so for I have had it for 3-4 years now and I do a lot of camping, so far so good the floor is in good condition but I would suggest putting a tarp underneath I still do not trust it 100%

  • Dude, was that a wierd camera angle, or were your shoes on the wrong feet?

  • Thanks for the review. I was looking at this exact tent at Bass Pro yesterday. I'm thinking it might be something good to go with my bug out bag.

  • Good stuff Kev. Thanks for the look.

  • Kev, Youtube's closed-captioning doesn't like your texas drawl! I just tried to turn it on for S's & G's. Apparently it uses google's voice recognition software to put up the captions, some of the stuff it thinks you're saying is hilarious.

  • @uncleben03 LOOOOL!!! YOU'RE RIGHT! XDXD i turned it on too and its soooo funny!

  • @uncleben03 holy shit, that is hilarious!

  • I have the same tent. Ive never had it sag like that. The tent does however have some issues with condensation so I only use the rain fly when I truly have to. I also stake the rain fly separately from the tent so I get a lil more air movement and less condensation.

  • as yuor doing this video are you on a hike?

  • I decided you are an engineer or some sort of Technician. Letting us all know the tape measure was a Craftsman gave it away. Most of us mathematicians know there is a differences in tape measuring devices if you use a micrometer.

  • @btigtime2 LMFAO

  • good job man ! hope more tent review coming up !

  • Man, I sounded foul, but MAN you get what ya pay for.

  • @playdrums -this tent was bought at Academy Sports and Outdoors in Beaumont Texas, not wal-mart. Academy is a popular sporting goods store across the southern part of the USA.

  • @survivalistboards in the video u did not set it up properly in the back guy wire right were u try off on the tent there is velcrom inderneath which velcros to the tent and the front to guy wires u pull them side ways not torwds the front

  • @playdrums Please don't post a comment like this if you don't know what you're talking about. Eureka is a really decent brand, I've got really good experience with the Autumn Wind 2XD myself.

  • @playdrums walmart doesnt not carry anthing eureka.

  • @playdrums Well then I guess I gotta take my 3 coleman tents back, my blue campfire coffee pot back to wally world, good thing they give you store credit, since I bought all that stuff over 5 years ago, theres no telling where my reciepts are now.

  • Did you seam seal this tent before you tested it? Just wondering because that is a pretty good tent to be that waterproof without seam sealer.

  • Thank you, great review! Is it expensive? Purty red truck.

  • No review is complete without mentioning the price tag?

.. or did I miss it?

  • @59Gretsch as you have yet to discover Google - Google says $65-80 is what you will pay....google search is our friend.

  • @59Gretsch Campmor sells it for $69.97.

  • @59Gretsch Click on the ads for pricing. This one is $69 ar Campmor. Looks like a pretty good lightweight tent but Im afraid of the floor.

  • @59Gretsch the price is never the same from place to place or time to time

  • it is about 90$ give or take a few

  • @59Gretsch It's like $80, I just bought one for backpacking

  • @59Gretsch around $63 on amazon

  • @59Gretsch its 70-80 $

  • @59Gretsch Prices change, depend on sales and location and can easily be researched in 1-2 seconds with google or any other search engine so... a price in a review is worthless to me.

  • @59Gretsch It is anywhere from $80 to $120

  • ive used this tent...it is excellent and light..

  • First, also great review thanks.

  • wow been waiting for a review on this tent on youtube for a loooooong time

  • good job!

  • the water was it inside or out side under neath?
