Is this shit expensive to like buy the matierlas to glass blow and the actaul glass? im interested in this stuff, can some one explain to me the raw materials, inc the fire thing and the prices? i know its a proffesion im just curious
For all the lampworkers who took their time and trouble to show others this trade, you have my deep thank you. I feel proud, after 2 years of gathering the proper tools, taking the time to learn this trade, this would not have been possible without your sharing. Also thanx to matt...Harmonicapete,Limington maine.
beautiful work! my friend has been trying to get into making pieces but she lacks the funds, i want to help her out by getting her a torch any recommendations?
People ask how to develop Glassblowing skill. All Skills even Glassblowing comes from God only. Ask God for the Blessing you want.... Then you'll prosper...
@Glassblower718 I love this kind of stuff and I am a very talented artists. I am not trying to correct you and make sound dumb or anything but God will not give you what you ask for, but He will give you the opportunity to achieve what you want.
That was fantastic! You make it look so easy . . . I've tried and it isn't LOL. Thank you for taking the time to make and post your videos! Class act!
Yo that is legit how long did it take you to learn and get out of the beginner stage to a point were you can just make stuff with ease? And how long have you been blowing glass? Thanks man I might take classes and start blowing glass pieces

Nice work I just got my nortel red max torch so I have been playing around with glass for about a week and this vid definitely gave me some tips. Thanks for sharing
Too late, already did try it at home, got the burn marks in my hard wood floors to prove it! Ohh, and for those who want to try this, BEST FUCKING HOBBY EVER!!! (expensive too, but so is everything else)
@StonersAmungUs420 I Have seen art like this go for up to $400 If it's from a renowned artist but I have also seen the same thing in the back of a gypsy's wagon for $20. Its all about where you shop. Hope that helped.
Very nice, thanx got everything together but the torch. still looking.Wat kind is the one you are using? looks like a winner to me. Again thanx for sharing...Harmonicapete.maine.
Wow, so many people saying they want to learn... I was thinking of taking classes about 2 months ago, but I then I thought it was too difficult. I came to learn that glass blowing using the glory hole technique is not how people make similar pieces to the one you made. And the torch technique seems a lot less dependent on partnering with someone. So my vigor to learn has been renewed. But it does seem expensive to start up and classes seem to cheapen the tradition/trade. What say you on this?
@MrMalevolent This style of Glassblowing is called "Lampworking". Most people that learn usually work as an apprentice first then go off on their own... Taking a class can help you to see if it's something you really wanna learn... It's harder then most people think...
@Glassblower718 I see, I see. Good to know the term. I think a class can be a big rip off, especially in my expensive city. On the other hand, there aren't many peopl who would want to take one the burden of an apprentice in this modern day. I can only imagine the level of dedication it takes, I don't think any craft is "easy". May I ask how long you've been lamp-working?
@MrMalevolent I learned the various glass sculpturing techniques from my grandfather... I've been at it a long time... I was never in it for the money because I'm okay
@Glassblower718 I understand. That is actually quite a beautiful thing, learning from your own grandfather. Lamp working seems very relaxing, but of course I've never done it myself, so it could just be that I'm not the one sitting behind that excruciatingly hot flame. I've seen horses and cats and other figures made in glass blowing videos, is that or similar also possible with lamp working or does this technique not allow such?
@MrMalevolent yes, all those techniques fall under the category of Lampworking... Glassblowing is a term reserved for furnace work but we call it all "Glassblowing" so people will have a idea of what were talking about... lol
@Glassblower718 That sounds great, I would love to make a glass ship for my girlfriend's mother. Her dad used to build ships in bottles, and now she collects them in his memory. But that's just one of the many ideas I'd love to see come to fruit. Once one learns proper safety and torch handling do you think he could learn technique from simply watching videos?
@Glassblower718 Give up after spending so much on supplies... well I guess they could sell their things or if they took a class, they don't really need to worry about supplies; but it seems like such a waste. Would you say there is a point in lampworking if you aren't using it to make money? I mean I wanted to do it as strictly a hobby at first, but my girl says I would end up needing extra cash to fuel the hobby in the first place. Any expertise on that idea?
