  • You should totally put a bubble blower in the middle of that stump thing in the water

  • did u make this ?

  • @fishesandturtles nah it's a custom made tank by a local reptile and amphibian pet store, i don't know how to work glass like this.

  • ive got a turtle that small what do you feed it

  • could u do a how to on the basking area in the first tank please ?

  • If you only have a halogen light bulb for the red eared sliders is that good? or do i need more lights?

  • @Mrcatdaddy587 normal lighting is fine for the swimming area, but for basking you should really get a UV light, and hang it say 10-15 inches from your basking area.

  • @KoenHoekx Thank you for replying it really helped!

  • why cant you just put the other small turtle in one tank

  • @jeproxish Kopite91LFC already mentioned how young turtles can handle a substantial amount of water, so that was an error on my part. However, if you look at the date of this video, you'll notice that this was over a year ago, and they're now being housed together in this tank, which has been filled up and has a turtle topper over the left side now. The only problem left is the piece of glass in the middle which i haven't figured out how to remove, but that's mainly aesthetic so w/e.

  • how did you set the tank up details pleaseeee

  • @ngaidoousman1 i'm not sure what you mean by how i set it up. Do you mean the tank size, or the substrate used, or something like that?

  • what size tank is that?

  • @crikeyzelasko 120cm/60cm/70cm, which in inches should be 47.24/23.62/27.52. An above-tank basking area has been added to the left so i could fill up the tank and accommodate 2 turtles.

  • @KoenHoekx

Great setup!! but i really didn't get idea of keeping 12-15 inch high sand at basking area. you could have left about 10 inches below the sand, he can play hide and seek with you

  • Obviously this video's old so this comments not directed at you but maybe for anyone who read's it.

The large majority of baby turtles can handle large amounts of water just fine. Dont be afraid to fill up your tank as much as you like. Some people are under the impression that while the turtle is young the water should be low enough so it can walk around, this isn't true.

  • i really don't like that basking island. it takes so much space. i would make suspended one so they can swim under that, and add some water.

  • if you lower the water 3 inches you can put the littl eturtle in with the fish

  • @jaelynnful he's been in the tank with the other one for a while now. He spent some time in a 20 gallon tank i found in the attic, and when he got to about half her size i moved it in with her. Been a couple of months, they tolerate each other well and enjoy basking together.

  • @KoenHoekx ok but they still need a bigger tank 10 gallon per inch

  • @jaelynnful yeah when they outgrow the 10 per inch or length x/width x/height x rules i'll probably take out the midsection, fill it up and get a turtle topper, or put in a elevated basking area. Own any turtles yourself?

  • @KoenHoekx yea i have 3 turtle one 6 in one 2 in one 5 inch

  • @jaelynnful ah what species are they? i've always wanted a razorback or a musk but they're hard to get 'round these parts.

  • @KoenHoekx panited??i don't know really how to spell that??lol,2 RES adn i am trying to get a razerback musk too

  • I miss you talking ...

    Trollololol

  • @ravenprey666 shouldn't you be studying, shit-for-brains.

  • @KoenHoekx F U fat a-hole. ... Im studying...

  • @ravenprey666 yeah i can see how commenting on my video's will benefit your grade. Can't make it for magic, shouldn't be on youtube then.

  • @ravenprey666 oh yeah i heard about your little 1-hour mishap. Pro moves buddy. also, no need to look out for those cards i asked for, Dries is going to fix em. You in lommel this weekend?

  • @KoenHoekx Pro-moves is what i'm all about. Sorta glad I get a little extra time though... can't hurt. I might be in lommel ... not making any promises though. If I am it'll be for laundry and I probably won't have heaps of time to spend with y'all. Maybe 1 match night tops.

  • Hi how do you find it with sand do they kick it up all the time? Is it easy to clean? Seems a waste to loose all that space to sand why don't you silicon a pice of acrylic 1" below where you want the bask level then put 1" of sand in then you still get the same basking area but more room, more water = cleaner water.

  • @walsallcrew yeah, she pretty much digs all around the tank and most of the time brings along a ton of sand from the basking area to the water area.the reason i got this much sand in there is because she's a female nearing sexual maturity, and i wouldn't want her to become eggbound because she didn't have a place to lay her eggs, so i gave her a good deep spot to let her do her business when she's ready.

  • @walsallcrew ran out of space there, the water doesn't get that dirty since i've got a canister filter set up that can handle up to 500l of water, and she's got plenty of space in there. thanks for the tip though, if she had been a male that would have been an option for sure.

  • wow, I commented too fast while still watching... that fish tank is very pretty as well! a 70ish or maybe 100gallon bowfront? Looks nice size, and the fish combination you selected is very colorful and pretty! Make sure you have good lithing so those plants survive. I have had good and bad luck with plants, the lighting is the key. But too much lighting = algae so be careful of that too. But amazing looking tank! It is very beautiful and the fish look healthy and happy!

  • @earthling1984 thanks again. it's a 120 bowfront, so you're pretty close. i've got 4 lights in that tank divided into two strips of two, both with 1 lamp for plant growth and 1 to bring out the coloration of the fish. i tend to keep only 1 set on during the day, the plants were growing so fast to the point that i had to clip them and replant(throwing away seems such a waste) every other day to stop them from reaching the lid on top.

  • @KoenHoekx what filter do you use for ur turtle?(the first tank shown in the video)how often do you need to do water changes?

  • @9912699125 it's a tetratec filter suitable for 200l- 500l tanks, and i've got a smaller one suitable for 120l-250l as a back-up which i will be using for the smaller turtle. I take out about 20-30% of the water every two weeks and replace with treated water to keep the ph values etc to a positive level. i also clean out the sand substrate with a substrate cleaner every week.

  • @KoenHoekx so nice....

  • @9912699125 thank you , your arowana looks great too.

  • wow, beautiful setup! Not sure of the exact size of that, but looks plenty large. I love how you separated the water and sandy side. He is a lucky turtle! That light is UVB right? I would assume so. Looks like it is setup very nice, and the canister filter I'm sure is working great for that water amount. Thanks for sharing! Thumbs UP!

  • @earthling1984 Thanks! the turtle tank is about 50 inches in length 25 in height and 25 in width, so yeah it should be big enough for a couple as soon as the little one grows out of being bite-size, going to set up a tank for him to grow in and then house him with the big girl, and you're right it's a UVB heat lamp. the filter is very capable of keeping the water clean, i just clean out the sand on the bottom every week since stuff gets mixed in there from all the digging she tends to do.
